Chris Brown Wasn't Allow To Participate In Michael Jackson Tribute During 2009 BET Awards

Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.

Chris Brown wanted to pay tribute to Michael Jackson during the BET Awards and was D-E-N-I-E-D.

Who played a major part in preventing it from happening? Jay Z!

The network execs also wanted no part of Brown because they feared his involvement would TRUMP the actual tribute. So they wouldn't allow him on stage.

Rumor has it Chris' team was working (begging) until the very end when his performance was supposed to begin. No one budged. INSTEAD, Jay Z performed and took his time slot.

It was said to have originally been determined that Chris Brown, Usher, Neyo, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z and Dream would all be an active part of the Michael Jackson Tribute.
But the latest word is Chris Brown has been denied!!!!

Word backstage from all the celebrities and producers is that Chris Brown and his handlers literally begged the BET execs to reconsider. Insiders say, “Michael Jackson is/was Chris’ idol and this tribute means the world to him.”
Head honchos fear a backlash if they allow Chris to perform since emotions are still so strong about the Rihanna assault incident. They don’t want Chris’ drama to overshadow the networks Michael Jackson tribute.

I am told that Chris Brown’s entire team is STILL WORKING AT THIS MINUTE to convince BET execs that they should allow Chris to perform.

The Twitter picture above is from one of Chris' background dancers.

Check out the video - even Beyonce didn't know that Jay Z was about to perform.

What do you think about everyone not allowing Chris on stage?

i dont know what to say. even though i hate chris brown for what happened with rihanna, i know mr jackson liked chris brown's performance of thriller at the ama's or whatnot; so brown not being able to contribute to the michael jackson tribute is a bit unfortunate. i also heard the game/chris brown/polow da don/p.diddy's 'BETTER ON THE OTHER SIDE" - a michael jackson tribute and it is GOOD. everyone listen to it. i cried =(

I’m extremely happy that (if this is correct) Jay-z stopped his performance. There is no excuse for what Chris did, and letting him get on stage and do his thing would have been a quick way for everyone to forget what happened and would have made it seem acceptable, which it isn’t.

Wil Wil said:

What he did and Rhi did has nothing to do with the tribute to Jackson. By them not letting him do it look what happen. The BET awards was wack and the tribute was wack. Jamie is the only one that saved them in a small way. And how about the video footage of Jay-Z smacking a female and mashing her face in backstage while other women and men stood by and did nothing. It's all over the net. So now when BET had a chance to have a good tribute they know they messed up. That's why I hear they trying to do another tribute but it's too late. MTV or someone going to do one and it will be better. Brown can't perform but we let Wayne the drug user perform every year????? ok

Have JZ forgotten what and who he was at the age of 20!! He and rest of the people who pass judgement on Chris have beaten women for sure! Michael was always fair ! he was not treated fair but he was a forgiving person . So why is JZ so upset , its not like he was a angle in his pass dope boy selling life!~! This is why the Bet show was as SORRY as it was!! This had nothing to do with JZ this was for MJ!!

What's really sad is the people have been tormented by past mistakes. It is people like you and thoughts of yours that have held back many opprotunities. Where you there? In other words, you don't know what happened. This makes me so thankful in a world so ignorant, that God does not look at us like man does. And for the record, the show with Chris would have been better than it was. The best part of the show is when Tyrese sang. In fact, the show to me was a public broadcast an untalented "pop culture".

That's right! If more men who beat women were banished from the public eye they might think twice about being violent towords women. Besides, come on, Rihanna is practically Jay-Z's creation, I am not surprised that he took a stand against Chris Brown. Jay-Z got major points in my book for this.

Chris Brown should have been able to perform. He was willing to take responsibility for his actions and now he is paying for it. Not allowing him to perform is just wrong. This show wasnt about Chris, Jay-Z, Jamie Foxx, or Beyonce. This was about Michael and the Rihanna drama should have been pushed to the side for a second in order to pay the most respect possible.

Yeah I'm torn too. Chris Brown is one of the most talented dancers (that we know of) of his time, and I'm sure MJ was a huge inspiration. But people are still reeling from the drama of a few months ago, and drama should not overshadow a tribute. I think in the end, the right decision was made. Will Chris Brown be punished forever? Probably, maybe he can try to do enough good that we'll push the bad to the background.

This was about showing each ones' love n Respect to the Late but great MJ, The King of Pop, Someone who everyone Look up to and even he made mistakes throughout his lifetime. so no one had that right to stop the kid from doing his thing to show his respect to some one he looked up to. women get their butts whooped everyday and is it right ? Haha. While I do agree that if one is going to criticize spelling and grammar you should make sure you don't make a mistake. BUT, with that being said, we're not publishing a blog. We're just commenting and wasting time while being bored. If I were running a blog, I'd make sure I hired ghost writers that passed 5th grade grammar and spelling. The nature of the writing has changed lately, which makes me believe Vera isn't writing most of the blog entries at all anymore. She needs to teach her people how to spell check, grammar check, and which "there/their/they're" to use. Much like Perez Hilton's site. He doesn't write a single thing anymore and his ghost writers have to be the WORST in the business.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I think the spelling and grammar criticism is not being addressed to Vera and her blog writers, but rather to people who post comments.

Effin grow up! Why did you get so worked up over the mention of a few errors? I'm not the one writting a blog for everyone to see and if I were writing something that was meant for people to see (and critique) then I would make sure there were not any errors (or at least try to catch as many obvious ones as possible). Posting a comment on a gossip blog is a completely different creature. I think you need to sit down and shut up. You clearly are not perfect either. What jumped up your butt this morning? Also, what do you call over use of a question mark? Are you trying to say you are that confused?

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Look, let me explain since you obviously don't get it. You post a high and mighty comment about people not paying enough attention to their spelling and grammar and proceed to make three spelling errors in your own comment. Do you not see the irony in that? The question mark was used because I was posing you a question. Did you pass the third grade? If so, it's time to repeat.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Stooping to insults. That shows a lot about you. One question mark is necessary not 8. How typical of you (can tell by your over the top posts that you are on edge for some reason and have chosen me as your target). Sorry that you are offended by the simple mistakes I made in what you took as a high and mighty comment (which was not meant to be that way). You too made mistakes, but no one treated you like a third class citizen because of it. You're unnecessary rant and verbal abuse are showing what a low class, sad and lonely person you must be. They were simple mistakes made in a comment that was not meant to be "high and mighty" (you obviously read too much into it), but are treating it like it's the end of the world. Since I have noticed a pattern in your posts...please feel free to NIT PICK this post as well as anything else you choose to make up about me as it is obvious you are looking for a fight. You can battle with yourself. Have fun and I really hope your day gets better and you don't continue to attack other innocent people over trivial matters.

I was thrilled when I heard that Jay Z bumped CB. Letting him on this show would be like saying to all the young men watching that it's ok to beat up a your girlfriend & show no remorse. It won't affect your career in any major way and everyone will just forget what you did. How can you separate a performers' private & public life when he did something this horrific? Did you all see her face?? He accepted a guilty plea bargain and should bear the consequences of that.

The fact that MJ was accused of child molestation should have no bearing in this discussion. He was judged not guilty by all 12 jurors after a very lengthily trial. And it is my understanding that in your country (USA) a person is not guilty unless proven so. Many people who really knew MJ said over and over again that he was no pedophile. It appeared to me that the only ones who called him one were the ones who could benefit in some way (monetarily) from him being guilty.

Now that MJ is dead perhaps we could all leave that horrible part of his life behind and just celebrate all the great things he accomplished in his career; if for no other reason that it would spare his family from hearing it.

So even though Michael was not found guilty doesn't mean that he never did any of it. It is so hard not to jump down people's throats when they speak about things they don't really know much about, but I couldn't help it.
