Chris Brown Wasn’t Allow To Participate In Michael Jackson Tribute During 2009 BET Awards

Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.

Chris Brown wanted to pay tribute to Michael Jackson during the BET Awards and was D-E-N-I-E-D.

Who played a major part in preventing it from happening? Jay Z!

The network execs also wanted no part of Brown because they feared his involvement would TRUMP the actual tribute. So they wouldn’t allow him on stage.

Rumor has it Chris’ team was working (begging) until the very end when his performance was supposed to begin. No one budged. INSTEAD, Jay Z performed and took his time slot.

It was said to have originally been determined that Chris Brown, Usher, Neyo, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z and Dream would all be an active part of the Michael Jackson Tribute.
But the latest word is Chris Brown has been denied!!!!

Word backstage from all the celebrities and producers is that Chris Brown and his handlers literally begged the BET execs to reconsider. Insiders say, “Michael Jackson is/was Chris’ idol and this tribute means the world to him.”
Head honchos fear a backlash if they allow Chris to perform since emotions are still so strong about the Rihanna assault incident. They don’t want Chris’ drama to overshadow the networks Michael Jackson tribute.

I am told that Chris Brown’s entire team is STILL WORKING AT THIS MINUTE to convince BET execs that they should allow Chris to perform.

The Twitter picture above is from one of Chris’ background dancers.

Check out the video – even Beyonce didn’t know that Jay Z was about to perform.

What do you think about everyone not allowing Chris on stage?

I have mixed feelings as well. I mean, they are paying tribute to a guy who was charged with child molestation and just honoring his career, not his personal life. So, that said, I think Chris should have been able to perform. What happened in HIS personal life should’ve been put aside, as well.

  2. wildcats says:

I have a real hard time believing Michael Jackson was Chris Brown’s idol. I know that he copied some moves a few years ago in a MTV show. Chris B wasn’t even around when MJ was popping out all of his greatest hits. I think Chris is one cocky child who was told he could out dance MJ and that is why he did that on MTV. Now that MJ has passed he is suddenly everybody’s idol. Just because he is compared to Michael he shouldn’t call him his idol.

  3. CapturingLife says:

I don’t think it matters that Chris “wasn’t around” when Michael was cranking out hits. I mean, Louis Armstrong is my idol but I wasn’t born when he was creating his hit songs. :)

  4. dieselchicklett says:

I think it was the right choice this wasn’t neither the time or place for Chris Brown to make a come-back…..RIP MJ

  5. Anonymous says:

he shouldnt be allowed anywhere where we have to see his face

  6. hurleygurlie5401 says:

it’s ALLOWED you left out the -ed in the caption.
and that guy used the wrong their that annoys the hell out of me!
and yeah mixed emotions too. if cb already had other performances then yeah maybe but if this was his first it would def overshadow the tribute.

save a heart, break a penis

I don’t mean to nit pick, but I have counted numerous errors in spelling and grammar on this site this morning alone. I think taking the time to proof read and spell check might be a good idea. Especially since you have been recognized for this site on different publications. Just saying. Not trying to be picky. I’d say the same thing to my sister if she were in this position. It comes across as professional vs. amature.

  8. DonnaJ says:

People are acting like Chris is the first man on earth to ever strike a woman. I am not at condoning what he did. In fact, I think he’s no man at all. However, he is paying for what he has done. Jay Z made Rhianna and he has a lot of power. Nuff said.

  9. merce369 says:

i’m will most of you, have a mixed feeling about this and as much as i don’t have any respect to the guy, he was there as CB singer and dancer not CB in personal life , so they should’ve allowed him to perform, not the first one though, closer to the end.

  10. lara jane says:

Mmm… you do have a point!

Oh, although… MJ was acquitted, CB wasn’t.

So, IDK. *shrug* I guess it’s like those signs “We have the right to refuse service.” I guess it was BETs prerogative to exclude CB as they saw fit.

  11. anniedawg25 says:

Ehh……first of all, Chris Brown’s dancer needs to learn how to spell, geez. Second of all, I am more appaled that Joe Jackson was walking the red carpet like Brad Pitt and had front row seats to the BET awards. Had it not been for MJ’s death they wouldnt have even cared about him. If you wanna know why MJ was so screwed up, look to that man. He beat MJ severely, and I am sure the rest of this fam…..and look at the treatment he got by BET. ***annie***

  12. luckystar says:

But he is a cocky kid :D

  13. luckystar says:

I hope Jay-Z stops Brown from ever having his career back. Brown is a poor role model and needs to show remorse for what he did before he can ever have some form of a career again!

  14. Anonymous says:

Oh, this is RICH. Nitpick is one word, proofread is one word, and spell-check has a hyphen. How embarrassed areyou right now???????? Shut up and sit down.

  15. Anonymous says:

Yet, BET let a dopehead (Bobby B.), woman beater (Jay Z-saw the footage), someone facing charges for drugs (Lil Wayne) all perform. Are you serious? Who are any of us to judge this man? Yeah, he made his bed and has to suffer the consequences, but come on now. What I saw last night was nowhere near a “tribute”. It was a hot ass mess. We’ve all made mistakes. Throw the first stone if you haven’t. People have to be careful how they treat people because the bible says “HE will make your enemies your foot stool”.

  16. exposition says:

“are you” also happens to be two words.

  17. Nimbus says:

Good job…. Chris can pay his repects another way.

  18. Nimbus says:

    Oh for fucks sake…… PHULLLEEESSSSEEE!!!!

  19. Molly Mae says:

Haha. While I do agree that if one is going to criticize spelling and grammar you should make sure you don’t make a mistake. BUT, with that being said, we’re not publishing a blog. We’re just commenting and wasting time while being bored. If I were running a blog, I’d make sure I hired ghost writers that passed 5th grade grammar and spelling. The nature of the writing has changed lately, which makes me believe Vera isn’t writing most of the blog entries at all anymore. She needs to teach her people how to spell check, grammar check, and which “there/their/they’re” to use. Much like Perez Hilton’s site. He doesn’t write a single thing anymore and his ghost writers have to be the WORST in the business.

  20. Anonymous says:

The only thing I have to say to this: GOOD.

  21. Lizzypoo says:

At least he got to be there. Sorry if he couldn’t perform, but that’s a path he chose when he decided to beat the crap out of someone.

  22. socheeky says:

I think its “MAD CHILDISH” that he twittered about it and made it public. I personally don’t listen to his music, I don’t watch BET or MTV and I applaud Jay Z. Chris Brown would only bring a level of drama if he would’ve performed. this was about MJ, not about him.

  23. Anonymous says:

MJ’s youth was marred by physical abuse making him the flawed adult he became. A tribute from another abuser would have been in very poor taste.
On a personal note I don’t think Chris Brown deserves redemption yet.

  24. ValerieMac says:

I was thrilled when I heard that Jay Z bumped CB. Letting him on this show would be like saying to all the young men watching that it’s ok to beat up a your girlfriend & show no remorse. It won’t affect your career in any major way and everyone will just forget what you did. How can you separate a performers’ private & public life when he did something this horrific? Did you all see her face?? He accepted a guilty plea bargain and should bear the consequences of that.

The fact that MJ was accused of child molestation should have no bearing in this discussion. He was judged not guilty by all 12 jurors after a very lengthily trial. And it is my understanding that in your country (USA) a person is not guilty unless proven so. Many people who really knew MJ said over and over again that he was no pedophile. It appeared to me that the only ones who called him one were the ones who could benefit in some way (monetarily) from him being guilty.

Now that MJ is dead perhaps we could all leave that horrible part of his life behind and just celebrate all the great things he accomplished in his career; if for no other reason that it would spare his family from hearing it.

  25. Ladylala says:

Whatever, I think that’s ok. That guy shouldn’t be shown respect anymore. He lost that right a while ago.

  26. Anonymous says:

They should have allowed Chris to perform. What he did to Rihanna was terrible, but he’s a young man who deserves a second chance. He has a great voice and he’s a terrific dancer.

  27. Anonymous says:

    clearly that was a typo…

  28. Anonymous says:

I think the spelling and grammar criticism is not being addressed to Vera and her blog writers, but rather to people who post comments.

  29. elaineelaine says:

    joe jackson….

  30. Anonymous says:

Michael father was there, they took good care of him!HELLO his father, who beat Michael in the past !!! IS BET AWARDS THAT CALLING A TRIBUTE!!??AND YES,Jamie Fox was to much on the scene (promotion or what? )
Michael’s father came there to promote himself, all attention on him, probably that he miss his son,and that he is sorry for his death, but he didn’t look so bad..
Anyway,Chris Brown has a great talent, but he made some mistakes in the past,so I think that is better to him to give a break and some time to pass..I feel that he wanted to dance and sign for his IDOL on BET,but he can do that on his concerts later in the future..For now,is better for him to do his music,to go on program for domestic violence and not express so much in medias. When some time pass,he can try to show people what kind of man is he,good or bad.And for sure that beating Rihanna was only mistake, that he don’t want to repeat (if he is bad man,he will repeat it),but just to live his life and do his music.

  31. Anonymous says:

AHAHAHAHA!! Serves that asshole right. I don’t care if wowed the King of Pop with his fly moves, I don’t want to see his stupid face ever on stage again. Besides, Chris Brown’s music blows; Michael’s is timeless.
However, it did seem rather fitting for a woman beater to pay tribute to a child molester.

  32. Anonymous says:

Ok I would understand if Chris brown was trying to perform his own damn song then fine shut him down but cmon it was a tribute to a legendary icon. Michael Jackson was a fan of Chris Brown and his dancing skills and that was well known. BET dropped the ball on that one because his performance would have saved thier disastrous tribute to MJ. They had papa joe in the audience for cring out loud…..MJs abuser was allowed to sit front row. Janet didn’t even acknowledge his presence. It is a touchy subject and I don’t believe in condoning abuse of any kind but Chris Brown sentenced and given his punishment by a court of law so what now this kid at 19 years should be ruined forever. That’s BS !!!!!

  33. DonnaJ says:

    Yeah, ok.

  34. CapturingLife says:

SO TRUE! Not too many of the performers up there should be getting up on their moral high-horses.

  35. Anonymous says:

Effin grow up! Why did you get so worked up over the mention of a few errors? I’m not the one writting a blog for everyone to see and if I were writing something that was meant for people to see (and critique) then I would make sure there were not any errors (or at least try to catch as many obvious ones as possible). Posting a comment on a gossip blog is a completely different creature. I think you need to sit down and shut up. You clearly are not perfect either. What jumped up your butt this morning? Also, what do you call over use of a question mark? Are you trying to say you are that confused?

  36. Anonymous says:

THANK YOU! Vera really needs to do a better job of editing her posts. And Chris Brown should join her in English class. Good grief.

  37. Anonymous says:

I don’t think posting Michael Bay as the director of Public Enemies is nitpicking….

  38. Anonymous says:

Look, let me explain since you obviously don’t get it. You post a high and mighty comment about people not paying enough attention to their spelling and grammar and proceed to make three spelling errors in your own comment. Do you not see the irony in that? The question mark was used because I was posing you a question. Did you pass the third grade? If so, it’s time to repeat.

  39. Tamara says:

I think it was the best decision only becuz the of the Rihanna thing. Other than that it would have been great. I can just hear the boo’s he would have received if Chris stepped on that stage…

  40. Anonymous says:

Stooping to insults. That shows a lot about you. One question mark is necessary not 8. How typical of you (can tell by your over the top posts that you are on edge for some reason and have chosen me as your target). Sorry that you are offended by the simple mistakes I made in what you took as a high and mighty comment (which was not meant to be that way). You too made mistakes, but no one treated you like a third class citizen because of it. You’re unnecessary rant and verbal abuse are showing what a low class, sad and lonely person you must be. They were simple mistakes made in a comment that was not meant to be “high and mighty” (you obviously read too much into it), but are treating it like it’s the end of the world. Since I have noticed a pattern in your posts…please feel free to NIT PICK this post as well as anything else you choose to make up about me as it is obvious you are looking for a fight. You can battle with yourself. Have fun and I really hope your day gets better and you don’t continue to attack other innocent people over trivial matters.

  41. gracefullyunnamed says:

as much as i love chris brown’s music and style, and understand how important it was to him to pay tribute, there are numerous other ways to show your respect than performing in front of a crowd. if it means that much to brown, paying respect in private should be enough.

  42. Anonymous says:

Actually “nit pick” can be one word or two, “proof read” can be one word or two and spell check does not require a hyphen. “Are you” is definitely two words. Get off your high horse.

  43. You don't know it all says:

I was molested by my biological mother at a young age. She was never punished by the law for her horrendous treatment of me. She was found innocent by the jury. I can damn well tell you what she did to me was very real but because there was not enough evidence she went free with no punishment. So even though Michael was not found guilty doesn’t mean that he never did any of it. It is so hard not to jump down people’s throats when they speak about things they don’t really know much about, but I couldn’t help it.

  44. tellulah says:

Whoa….I think you’re the one who is being abusive here, don’t you think? The anonymous poster had a point. You both need to move on.

  45. McBrewster says:

Chris Brown should NOT be involved in any public anything until his probation is over!!

Perhaps if he would at some point come forward and apologize for what he did I would reconsider.

Until then, keep Chris Brown off the stage and airways!!

  46. valcat says:

    LOL!! So true.

  47. Anonymous says:

Look it up in a dictionary if you have one, that is. There sure are a lot of uneducated people on this site.

  48. Feewer says:

Chris has made mistakes in his life, but that has nothing to do with him paying a tribute to his idol. Jay Z did a good job though and Michael was probably hes idol too. Either way a great show.

  49. hurleygurlie5401 says:

oh lord look what i started haha. i am just one of those people who can’t read a story that is flawed because i can’t even take in the information- all i see is the mistakes…

  55. jermi_2 says:

Some of y’all are so stupid!!! Just to show prejudice you will say any damn thing just to get a word in. “Chris B wasn’t even around when MJ was popping out all of his greatest hits.” Are you serious!?? When did that started that you had to born on the same day of your idol for he or she to be an idol??? Everybody makes mistakes, everyone at some point in their life loose their temper and did something that they’ve regret. now nobody said what he did was right and no one should, but this was not about any of all that, this wasnt about CB, Rhianna or DUMB ASS Jay Z. This was about showing each ones’ love n Respect to the Late but great MJ, The King of Pop, Someone who everyone Look up to and even he made mistakes throughout his lifetime. so no one had that right to stop the kid from doing his thing to show his respect to some one he looked up to. women get their butts whooped everyday and is it right ? Hell no! But the fact is some of them love it, some dont. But, because its a celebrity thing everybody down on the kid like he’s some kind of monster and as the American way goes… the women are never wrong. caz she didnt had no part in the whole mattter Right? People just need to shut the hell up mind their own business and let the kid do his thing. he already apologized time n time again, alot more than any other women abuser ever did.

  56. Ali. G says:

What the hell are you talking about. Just because Chris Brown was not born when MJ was around doesn’t mean MJ can’t be his idol. Are you so stupid that you can’t understand that MJ’s music transcends through generations. Just because you wasn’t born in a certain era when that artist came out doesn’t mean you can’t be influenced by that person. You are so stupid it’s not even funny!

  57. Anonymous says:

AMEN! finally, a damn intellegent comment! it should’nt have been about what he did in his personal life, it should have been about him as an entertainer, hell i could understand if he was pissing on the crowd or something like that, but he wasnt, he should have been able to pay his respects just like every other whore, woman beater, crackhead, and drunk that was on the line up, look at who performed, mostly ALL of them has been in the news for something negative, hell, if TI was there, his ass would have performed too!!

  58. Hi there, I found your blog by the use of Google at the same time as looking for a comparable subject, your site got here up, it seems to be great. I have bookmarked it in my google bookmarks.

  59. Fantastic site. Plenty of useful information here. I’m sending it to some pals ans also sharing in delicious. And certainly, thank you in your sweat!

  60. supia says:

i dont know what to say. even though i hate chris brown for what happened with rihanna, i know mr jackson liked chris brown’s performance of thriller at the ama’s or whatnot; so brown not being able to contribute to the michael jackson tribute is a bit unfortunate. i also heard the game/chris brown/polow da don/p.diddy’s ‘BETTER ON THE OTHER SIDE” – a michael jackson tribute and it is GOOD. everyone listen to it. i cried =(

  61. YAYI says:

I’m extremely happy that (if this is correct) Jay-z stopped his performance. There is no excuse for what Chris did, and letting him get on stage and do his thing would have been a quick way for everyone to forget what happened and would have made it seem acceptable, which it isn’t.

  62. Anonymous says:

awe ur a stupid bitch what happend between chris n rihanna is between them. aparently she liked it seeing as shes trying to get the court ruleing damperd so she can see him

  63. Manimal says:

Ha ha ha ha, “mad childish.” That makes me laugh.

  64. sad night says:

I AGREE WITH THE FIRST TWO POSTED COMMENTS. It is very unfortunate with Chris brown,he would have done a far better job than that SH1T that Jay Zzzzzz ( so boring ) did. what was with that tribute. everyone from the back ground lyrics where OFFFFF! ” Nana naNA naNanaNa Heeeeey heyyyy hey…… good buy” they sooooo dragged into their words and all off key. Some good buy. this performance just goes to show Jay Snoozer Z is losing his zest for producing his best. Childish isn’t the word to call what he did that night. EGOTISTICAL

  65. ALmostEviL says:

Good. His image is tarnished and he shouldn’t be allowed anywhere whre his face can be seen anymore.

  66. Carmen says:

That’s right! If more men who beat women were banished from the public eye they might think twice about being violent towords women. Besides, come on, Rihanna is practically Jay-Z’s creation, I am not surprised that he took a stand against Chris Brown. Jay-Z got major points in my book for this.

  67. Anonymous says:

Totally agree- he doesn’t deserve anything good happening to him. Maybe with all this free time he has he should go back to school- always thought he was douche but his incorrect use of their/there makes me hate him more!

  68. Anonymous says:

agreed, he didn’t deserve to be part of it

  69. C. says:

I agree. He ruined his reputation and he has to pay the price. Maybe he’ll learn his lesson and never raise his hand again to another woman if it hurts now. Let’s hope so.

  70. Wil says:

Do u say that about lil wayne, linsey lohan, olson twins, paris hilton etc. all who do drugs, said they did drugs or got plastered on the magazine sniffin cocaine. DUI and cocaine in the car, sex tape, etc. but Their faces are still shown. The show was WACK BET F*&K UP BIG TIME.

  71. misschristina says:

Yeah I’m torn too. Chris Brown is one of the most talented dancers (that we know of) of his time, and I’m sure MJ was a huge inspiration. But people are still reeling from the drama of a few months ago, and drama should not overshadow a tribute. I think in the end, the right decision was made. Will Chris Brown be punished forever? Probably, maybe he can try to do enough good that we’ll push the bad to the background.

  72. Anonymous says:

Geez, could Beyonce’s dress b any shorter. She actually looks very uncomfortable in it. Trashy.

  73. My2cents says:

    Chris Brown made his bed…

While it’s sad that he wasn’t allowed to pay tribute to MJ, it’s not the end of the world and it’s a nice reminder to him and others that there are people who are willing to hold you accountable for your actions. Emotions are still very high about the assault and this is a consequence that has to be paid.

  74. Anonymous says:

agreed. he needs to learn that his actions have consequences. maybe it’ll make him think more about his future behaviour

  75. lara jane says:

    Exactly.

  76. C. says:

    YUP, YUP, YUP!

  77. Aura says:

Jay-Z couldn’t have taken his time slot. He was originally slated to perform in the first place, and Chris Brown wasn’t.

  78. Wonder_Woman says:

I have mixed emotions too. I mean brown was a gifted dancer and obviously his model to look up to was Jackson. He already went to court and is dealing with the drama that accured in Feb, I really dont think BET had the right to denying him to at least attend the ceremony

  79. luckystar says:

I’m glad Chris Brown didn’t get to perform a tribute to MJ. If he did perform it would have been all about him- Chris brown’s comeback, when it was about paying respect to the man that paved the way for Chris Brown to have a career. Chris Brown ruined his own career. He can pay his respects another way.

  80. -tHEE SMORESz CAkE says:

you need to shut up! chris is thee best && it doesnt matter what no one says bout him! he should have paid tribute to michael jackson because he loved that man! how would you feel if you hitted on your girlfriend or boyfriend && your daddy died && you couldntpay tribute or attend the funeral because of what you did in your personal life..thats so stoo-pid && you are too for that comment!

  81. TOO REAL says:

THE BET AWARDS WAS PITIFUL. THEY CLAIMED THE SHOW WOULD BE A TRIBUTE TO MJ INSTEAD IT WAS NONSENSE. THE ONE PERSON MJ ENJOYED WATCHING PERFORM HIS SONGS WASN’T EVEN ALLOWED TO PERFORM BECAUSE OF SOME NO TALENT JAY-Z JUMP-OFF. TO BET – I SAY KARMA IS COMING AND TO CHRIS I SAY WHEN YOU MAKE IT BACK TO THE TOP (AND YOU WILL) HAVING NOTHING TO DO WITH JAY-Z AND THE JUMP-OFF WITH THE BIG HEAD (BECAUSE BELIEVE THEIR STARS WILL START TO FADE AND THEY WILL BE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO LATCH ON TO) AND NEVER DO A SHOW FOR BET BECAUSE YOU WOULDN’T WANT TO HELP THEIR RATINGS.

  82. valcat says:

I think that if Chris Brown would just own up to what he did (remember Hugh Grant) things would change for him. So far he’s let his lawyer do the talking, and put’s out these idiotic and imature videos & tweets that make him look like an arrogant jerk. Be a man and own up to your actions!

  83. Jill says:

Chris Brown should have been allowed to perform to pay tribute like everyone else. It wasn’t about Chris but about paying tribute to his idol Michael. For BET to deny him that is F***ed up. Look at the bigger picture BET..Now watching BET no more.. Chris Brown would have made the show much more entertaining. Nobody does Michael Jackson like Chris Brown..NOBODY!

  84. Bossy says:

This is ridiculous. Some thought Jackson was eccentric and trying to be white and basically a subject of ridicule. But above all, the man was an entertainer. We don’t remember him for the scandals but for his talent. This should not have been about Chris’ personal life, just about talent. So many of the people who actually got to perform are womanizers, cheaters, a**holes, etc. (and those things do affect women profoundly, albeit in a different way than domestic abuse) and yet their personal life did not impede on their being given the green light. Jay-Z getting up on his high horse now that he’s married is ridiculous, he was just as much a womanizer as the rest singing about how he had sex with his friend’s gf (Naz) as a way to make fun of him. Give me a break.

  85. Anonymous says:

Chris Brown is not allow to perform at the BET’s; however, R. Kelly has perfom for BET many times… that doesn’t make sense.

  86. Anonymous says:

Thats why the show sucked!!! Now BET should lay in the bed they made. Death to BET!

  87. CPBX says:

Jay Z did the right thing! Chris Brown has some nerve to even try to get his career in gear from MJ. That is just what it looks like to me esp. when the tribute song dropped less then 24 hours after he had passed. Chris B jumped on that wagon real quick!

I by no mean would condome what Chris B so unshamefully did. He does not deserve to be a role model for our youth any longer. Getting his career back on track would be such a slap in the face to those parents who are trying to raise children, esp. teens today. Hey, mom, look at me… I can beat up a woman & still be swimming in riches!

  88. -tHEE SMORESz CAkE says:

look at here! NOBODY’S PERFECT! everyone makes mistakes got damn..get that into yall fucking heads! he can do whatever he wants && thatswhy the perfomance && the whole awards show sucked..some tribute!

  89. GTFOH!

That show was packed full of woman beaters, felons, child support dodgers, (current) and former drug dealers, murderrers, etc. and Chris Brown couldn’t perform?

    Really?

This wasn’t about Chris’ personal life. This was about MJ…and unfortunately BET did a piss poor job showing tribute to Michael Jackson.

Not a SINGLE dance tribute? Sad slow Michael Jackson songs? No rock with u? Bad? Can’t stop ’till u get enough? PYT?

The ONLY person who could have done Mike justice was Chris and instead of giving me a show worth watching I ended up with that crap.

    DAMN.

10 minutes of Chris would have been much better than Death of Autotunes, Soulja Boy and Young Money…WTF?

are you kidding me; he shouldnt be able to perform because he beat rihanna? granted, yes, it sucks and THE ONLY FELONY HE COMMITTED WAS SAYING ‘I WILL KILL YOU’…wow…how many times have we said that to folks?
seriously…honestly, im not a cb fan like that. seriously. but when we talk about being criminal…omg…do we still listen to rkellys music? yep. do we still listen to t.i.’s music? yep…AND we gave him a show for it. do we listen to these crack dealers in the industry?
    lol fuck outta here
breezy has done awesome renditions of thriller & beat it.

dont give me the ‘criminal’ argument until u stop listening to all these artists who have done jail time or have been court for whatever. dont give me the ‘acquited’ shit and dont give me the ‘that shit doesnt count’ foolishness.

CRIME IS CRIME. THE LAW IS THE LAW.
    I am praying for chris.

I think it’s terrible!!! Why? because we all know CHRIS BROWN made a mistake and hopefully he has learned from it. He has and will pay the price for it. My concern is why is he being held hostage for it? I am so sure that the people who are back lashing this young boy because he have not became a man yet – have done so many things that we may or may not ever hear about. But there is one thing in life that I have always learned and that’s be careful of how you crucified a person because the day of judgment may be right around the corner for you.

If I knew this young man and young woman I will reach out and speak with them truly from the heart. OFFER them so genuine directions that I know could help them in their lives – not stomp on them. This is terrible – we need to help someone before it’s to late.

Look at Michael Jackson – people crucified him and I know this man could never have done what they solely wanted people to believe. However, those same people who may have believed differently before is coming out saying how they love him so. As my aunt said while she was living is give me my flowers while I am alive.
    ________________________

What I felt and still feel is that all these suppose to be REAL MEN – instead of saying what you wanna do to CHRIS BROWN .. the back lashing CHRIS BROWN – speaking down on him – why don’t you MEN come forward and give CHRIS BROWN so genuine MEN lessons. A lot of young men fall short because they don’t have those genuine MEN images to follow and only go by what they have seen within their life or on television.

It is so deep in my heart that this young man(CHRIS BROWN) want to change and do better. GOD has a plan for him (CHRIS BROWN) and no matter what one is trying to take from him if he does not allow it to be taken and place GOD before anything I guarantee you he (CHRIS BROWN) will overcome all adversity.

For GOD said that (CHRIS BROWN) is my child and I can change anything by the flash of an eye. They may come in the thousandths against thee but they will not touch thee. I am placing my light around you Chris Brown and no matter what the DEVIL has tried to make for EVIL the LORD will make for GOOD – trust and know that I am GOD and that I will guide your steps if you allow me to guide thee. FOR your blessings will not come from man but through man. What has been stopped will regenerate but in a bigger plan. Trust in yourself and your being and the I AM that is in you and you will forever see the light of my hand. Blessings – amen

okay..my thoughts..that show was an epic fail and 1/2 the ppl in that audience and in any award show audience has some legal prob or had one–Jay Z, R.kelly, lil Wayne, Don Cornelius was arrested for the same thing as CB, but he was allowed to participate…people in glass houses should not throw stones..and as pitiful as that disgraceful show was they needed someone who could sing and dance at the same time.(Keri Hilson,New Edition cannot)..how can u honor MJ without the dance? Ciara and Neyo are just not good enough..they needed Chris Brown, usher, Justin Timberlake and Mariah Carey and a hell of alot more ppl to do a tribute properly..they need to try again..

That’s why the case almost didn’t happen, they said he used too much force that was unequal to what she did. This isn’t Ike and Tina! And in the end, she asks the judge to NOT enter an order making him stay at least 10 feet away?!?!??!? HELLO!!!!! She knows what she’s done!

Jay Z’s performance sucked and I wish they would have let Chris Brown perform because everyone else pretty much sucked.

Take your god talk back to church, bitch. CB hasn’t learned anything from his experience. If he were truly humbled by his situation he’d lay low and honor MJ privately. This is all about him getting his career back on track, and that includes that generic piece of shit tribute he did with the game and boyz 2 men.

Oh what ever I am so sick of this stupid rhianna sh*t she was the one that started it. The police department from VA where chris is from said that he had to replace at least 3 flat screen tv’s because rhinana mashed them. why do you think rihana never made a comment about this she knows she was part of this. things like that do not just happen one time it builds up. I’m soo sick of it. chris brown is talented and he should have been allowed to pay tribute to michael I am not saying that fight was “ok” but it takes 2 to tango. riri played her part . she alreay did an interview where she talking about fighting with her brothers shes violent herself

  102. Y.R says:

I have to say MJ was a legend he will always be. To be recommended by him would be a dream come true, MJ sed chris brown style reminded him of himself so already, he should have performed for him. What chris Brown did wernt right and off course he deserves punishment but wheter people agree with the punishment handed to him or not he is serving his punishment and he has acknowledged the fact that he was in the wrong.
Jay-z aint bigger than MJ and chris brown would have made the difference people know that cause he was talented and for a performer to show his best ability and make the crowd impress would have been a huge credit to MJ.

Jay-z was selfish this time cause even doe he had a right to be mad at Chris Brown, saying u wont pay a tribute cause of something which has been solved already
nah jay-z knew fans would still support him cause hes a favourite and i think he will change cause people are letting him know it was wrong

also jay-z stopped sean paul from performing with beyonce a few years back. that dude has no right to pass judgement or try to hold people back – he isn’t that good live either.

For all of you that dont know what im talking about BEYONCE trashed the Jackson family just a few short months ago and now is trying to act like she cares because Michael is front page news. She is nothing more than a media whore trying to get some free press off of MJ’s death and its disgusting. CB was a REAL friend and fan on MJ so he shouldnt have been denied that because of previous actions. The awards were crap because they allowed status to perform over people that would have made the show a good one. Im glad that they are getting crappy reviews. Having a fake like Beyonce perform turned a lot of people off because we all know that she thinks she is better than the Jackson’s so her so called tribute didnt mean shit.

    RIP Michael

Jay-z is a goof performer but he just mad cause everbody knows that chris Brown would have tore it up, jut like THRILLER!!!. That a shame cause now its over, but GOD DONT LIKE UGLY, ESPECIALLY WHEN PEOPLE ARE ALREADY BEING PUNISHED. hmmm people seem to be doing an awful lot of judging as if they walk around with halos floating above their heads. While I am just as upset as many about the Chris and Rihanna incident, I disagree with those commenting about how the boy should shunned out by any and everyone. Hell if we treated every celebrity who’s commited a crime the way you guy’s claim Chris should be treated, then half of damn hollywood would be getting knocked down and spit on for their actions.

Now let’s take a look at this BET Awards situation, Jay Z, Lil Wayne, and Baby were amongst some of the rappers who were able to perform on the show.. All three have past dealing with drugs YET BET OVERLOOKS THAT.. Lil Wayne is a well known druggie and has even talked about his usage of many known drugs openly during and interview on BET once YET THEY OVERLOOKED IT.. Even the high and mighty Jayz has been caught on footage (thats everywhere on the net) committing the same crime he’s condoning Chris for YET BET OVERLOOKS IT.. Don Cornelius, who BET allowed to present one of the highest awards of the night, was arrested for the exact same charges as Brown YET BET OVERLOOKS IT. And for crying out loud they even allowed Bobby Brown to open up with New Edition as a tribute to MJ and I’m pretty sure I don’t need to explain that one YET BET STILL OVERLOOKED IT. I could probably go on about the dirt on a lot celebs who were in attendance at this so called “tribute to MJ” awards show but I’m sure you all get my point. The fact of the matter is people to busy trying to tear down this boy for his actions when they records ain’t lookin so squeaky clean themselves.. That whole darn tribute show was a joke! Michael was a dance icon, yet there was no dancing! Come on BET.. and then they had the nerve to let the rapping drug dealers, who by the way let 12 yr old girls on stage dance while they sang “I wish I could f*ck everygirl in the world”, close the up the show.. I’m honestly just disgusted with the whole situation and can’t do anything but pray for the entertainment industry SMH

And for all you people out their ready to trash and slander chris brown’s name every time you see it in a post: take a look at the artist you listen to, the actors/actresses you love to watch on television and movies, the friends and people you choose to associate yourself with, and even take a look at yourselves. No one’s perfect and people need to hop off their high horses and stop turning their nose up at others because it’s not their place to do so.

Who are any one of you to judge Chris Brown. What he did to Rihanna was terrible, but he owned up and is paying for his mistake. MJ has been accused of child molestation twice,(I never believed it by the way) but people still love and adore him, what’s to say for Chris Brown. You would rather see Jay- Z up there on the stage the same man who smacked and pushed a womans face into the wall, than see a great performance from Chris Brown that would have truly made MJ proud. It’s funny how people could judge others like they never made mistakes. This tribute was for no other than MJ. All differences and issues should have been put to the side. Plus who the hell is Jay- Z. Who tells him he’s the boss. But it’s no surprise, BET has no backbone whatsoever. They’re nothing but a joke.

  120. Miss Cinnamon says:

I’m mad ass hell…Chris Brown should have performed at the BET awards. They was terrible and Beyonce did a horrible job. Chris Brown would have torn that show up. He is still a great performer, regardless of his personal issues. All these other rappers and performers who are caught with guns and drugs, do their time and get sentenced, but can continue their lives. This was a dumb move by all parties. Chris Brown has mad talent and no one can deny that…..he would have definitely replaced all the Neyo and Jamie Fox performances that got tiring.

Jamie is the only one that saved them in a small way. And how about the video footage of Jay-Z smacking a female and mashing her face in backstage while other women and men stood by and did nothing. It’s all over the net. So now when BET had a chance to have a good tribute they know they messed up. That’s why I hear they trying to do another tribute but it’s too late. THE FANS OF MICHAEL JACKSON TUNED IN TO SEE A GREAT PERFORMANCE DEDICATED TO M.J. AND WHAT BETTER PERSON TO ENTERTAIN US. OKAY JAY Z PERFORMED BUT PLEASE TELL ME WHAT PART OF THAT PERFORMANCE HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE LIFE OF MICHAEL. IT REALLY SADDENS ME THAT THE NETWORK WOULD LEAVE THE DECISION UP TO ANOTHER PERFORMER. WHAT DOES THIS TEACHES OUR YOUNGER YOUTH ABOUT FORGIVENESS? WE AS A NATION OFTEN TRY TO CRITICIZE BUT WE DON’T REALIZE THAT OUR ACTIONS OFTEN CONFUSES OUR YOUTH. THIS ONLY TELLS OUR YOUTH THAT IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE IN LIFE EVERYONE WILL TURN THEIR BACK ON YOU. Chris Brown is human and when I first heard about what happend between him and Rihanna I was angry with him because I couldn’t fathem the thougt of him beating on a female. But then again I thought, he knows what he did was wrong and he is paying for his actions. Some men wont even do that. As far as the Jay-z thing, that show was not about him nor Beyonce so for him to come out and say “me nor Beyonce will be performing if Vhris Brown performs” seems a little selfish to me. first of all yes Bey’s performance was touching and very moving but with a little hint of Chris in the show it would have been 10x better. Yall know how much Chris loves Michael Jackson. and as far as Jay-z performance, we could have gone without it. nothing spectacular [sorry to say but its true] we all have to admit chris brown is talanted and you cant deny it. you cant strip him of his talent because of a mistke that happend between him and rihanna. kety word HIM and RIHANNA not him rihanna jay-z and Beyonce. I was very disappointed to here the reasons that Chris Brown was not at the awards for BET. Although, I don’t side with Chris’ actions towards some one he is suppose to care for, I can not judge anyone for their actions, I can only work on keeping myself from the same snares in life.

I am also disappointed in Jay-Z’s actions and use of his so called power. If you can’t help to guide someone in a positive way, then stand aside, let some one else help so that the person won’t stumble again. He never should use his power (money, status, etc., to push anyone away. He should always want to show a way to build up, extend a hand, guide, show other ways to handle crisis. He may be in those same shoes someday. No one is perfect. We all fall short.

Chris Brown is the only person who imitates Michael Jackson perfectly. The tribute was to Michael, NOT JAY-Z. This was a time to set business aside and show love for a fallen loved one. HOW DARE our black men receive a little status, and I do mean a little status and through their weight around. They might as well still be in the ghetto, because their mind and actions are still there. I belive power is given to people to help one another and when it is misused you too can lose it. So don’t throw stones, you fall short too.
“let him who has not sinned cast the first stone” (Bible – John 8:7) Can’t we all just get along for Mike’s sake and more for CHRIST SAKE. Show the love even when you don’t want too.

Exactly. Just because he said he was sorry doesn’t mean he gets an immediate pardon.

First let me say I did not get to see the awards because I was working. The recap from what I saw and what I have read has lead me to believe that the focus shifted from Michael Jackson to Rhianna the second Chris Brown was not allowed to perform. From what I know about Jay-Z, he is not an angel nor a emperor. He was (probably still is) a drug dealer. He has beat women and as illegetimate children. OH but no one talks about that because he might get mad. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Chris Brown is human and it was not about him or Rhianna. It was Jay-Z showing how much pull he has to stop things. Go sit your suppose to be retired ass down please. No one wanted to hear you premier song. It ain’t always about you. Jay-Z is done and that what it is. Chris Brown was the best person for the tribute. I don’t give a damn who he hit. If she didn’t like it then leave him alone. This has nothing to do with anyone else but them two and the show wasabout MICHAEL JACKSON. NOT RHIANNA. We were not there, we don’t know what happend. Damn tabloid readers.

Everyone need to stop trippin about what Chris Brown may have or not done. The law always sides with the woman. NO ONE knows what REALLY happen. Jay Z can eat a big one!!!! His hands are not totally clean either. He has done some questionable things in the past. He just mad someone got his ol’ piece of ass while him and B were on the outs. He should not be stopin another Black man from gettin ahead. That is a private matter and needs to left alone. I beleive Mr. Brown would have been GREAT!

Ok, whoa. Honestly, this had nothing to do with Rihanna or abuse. It had everything to do with a major pop icon’s death. One who inspired so many artists and people everywhere, including Chris Brown. It is a FACT that Michael Jackson loved Chris Brown and was even considering to do a collaboration with him. His personal life should not have conflicted with him paying his respects to the death of his role model, especially since MJ would have wanted it. JayZ is right to be upset with Brown because what he did has unjustifiable; however, Brown turned himself in, went to court and is doing the best he can in handling the situation. He made a horrible mistake and is paying his price through the justice system. Brown’s music has absolutely nothing to do with his anger issues. What really saddens me is that JayZ retaliated towards a hated situation with even more hate. Two wrongs do NOT make a right. An eye for an eye only makes both half blind and how does that solve any problem at all? It’s immature and petty.

of course Jay Z is mad about the whole Chris nd Rihanna thing. He was sleeping with her too. I dnt lik him nd never will lik him. Everyone has ups nd downs in their relationships. I dnt lik what Chris did to Rihanna nor am I condomened it I jus think it should be handle between them. Who are we to judge. Women get beat on everyday but because they are famous nd hav money its different. SO EVIL ND CRUEL WORLD!!!
