A 32 Minute Film Of James Franco Trashing A Room

Sooooo, here’s the deal. There’s a 32 minute short film called ‘The Room Before and After‘ where James Franco walks in and literally trashes a room to pieces. That’s the entire film – a half hour of James going nuts in this room.

What do you think about the concept? Is it art? Or is it nonsense?

It took him 32 minutes? What a slacker. I could have done it in five.

  2. lara jane says:

I’m going to lean towards nonsense. But it’s not like he got high and trashed his hotel room, right? These people probably set this up in a soundstage or something. No more “wasteful” than any other show/movie set that gets blown up or otherwise destroyed.

In other words, I’m keeping an open mind. And sort of laughing. And wondering why it took so long.

  3. meeeeeeeeeeee says:

    stupid
You don’t need JAmes Franco to do that. My 19 months old does it every day to our house :) I would prefer to see him putting it back together in 32 minutes (which I do every evening)

  4. Mamita says:

Nonsense, destructive, what is the purpose of the act?

  5. Nicole says:

Like usual, I can’t see the video at work, but it seems interesting…. I think it would be fun to destroy a room, as long as I wasn’t ruining anything of value, and I didn’t have to clean it up. :)

    I think this is better…http://www.acetj.com/videos/player.php?mediaID=2941

  7. merce369 says:

Nonsense and this is took 32 minutes?!?!? Maybe the art of it is in the idea of trashing the room slowly and artistically :-) )) , otherwise no sense at all .

  8. ChelseaDagger says:

I actually found it very interesting that he didn’t go for the shelves first, which is what I would have done. Anyways, I’d watch JF do anything for 32 minutes.

  9. DonnaJ says:

If this is art, its not my kind of art.

  10. Unique says:

That was beautiful, my favorite part is at the end where he’s laying on the bed lookin’ to curl up.

  11. emches says:

    Aww man can’t watch it!—em’s

  12. Lalique says:

Stupid. Moronic. Sophomoric. Puerile. Infantile. Silly. At a time when the number of people who show up at soup kitchens has doubled, why are these imbeciles burning up money? If it’s in the name of “art”, I’ll throw up.

  13. debbie dlb says:

wholphin is nutty. i’ve seen a couple of things starring michael starr, paul rudd, etc… it’s the arty stuff that doesn’t necessarily bring in the box office dollars.

  14. decbride says:

    complete nonsense

  15. jetgirl says:

    nonsense

  16. Feewer says:

What a waste of time and money.

  17. sherry says:

    nonsense.

  18. Awesome says:

    This is amazing.
If someone asked me to destroy a room I’d do it without a second thought.

  19. Anonymous says:

I guess this just proves that if you look decent enough, you can be paid to do stupid CRAP :P Ugh.

  20. kelly_o says:

    What a waste. Stupid.

  21. hexkitten says:

Oddly, I don’t find it as stupid as that episode of “The Hills” I once caught at my dad’s house.

  22. Ellie says:

Are they that desperate and out of ideas? =^_^=

  23. hexkitten says:

This is what I was thinking, except it was in relation to “I’m a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here!” ;)

  24. Lizzypoo says:

it is artsy in a way. As long as it’s his own room we’re good.

  25. Molly Mae says:

I did this once. It wasn’t called art though, it was called a nervous breakdown. Hey, I guess I was ahead of my time! LOL

  26. hexkitten says:

    You’re a trendsetter!

  27. starlitbetty says:

I thought it was funny… but I guess that’s my sense of humor. Also, I couldn’t help but notice some of the nice things he was destroying…

  28. socheeky says:

I’ve always found him attractive, but watching some of this makes him seem douchy.

  29. Juliia says:

Interesting. Maybe at one point they’ll explain the concept behind it. Then it would be time to judge if nonsense or not. Right now, it doesnt make much sense but I wouldnt call it nonsense. (althought thats what this word means literally- i dont know)
