Well this is exciting news for ‘Gossip Girl’ fans! Hilary Duff will be joining the ranks of Leighton Meester and Blake Lively, with her debut on the show coming as Jessica Szohr’s (Vanessa’s) college roommate.
EW reports:
The actress-designer-pop chanteuse will play Olivia Burke, a movie
star who enrolls at NYU in search of a traditional college experience.
She ends up rooming with Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) so it’s safe to say
she’ll be majoring in Drama!Duff will debut in this season’s fourth episode, slated to air Oct. 5.
Do you think this show will be a good fit for Hilary?
I’m interested to see how this helps her career. Blake and Leighton have really blown up ever since ‘Gossip Girl’ began. Will this make Hilary bigger than ever?

Not sure about this. I LOVE Gossip Girl and don’t particularly like Hillary…so we’ll see. I’d rather a lesser known person join the show because celebrity’s tend to disappoint when they join a great cast.
Even when I was really into the show, I didn’t think the acting was all that great. There’s some nice eye candy, but that was pretty much it.
She is pretty and fashionable.

I don’t see her becoming one of the main characters, but she may fit in nicely as a diversion….one thing you gotta give credit to the powers that be on this show is this… if something isn’t working, they don’t mind changing it until it does…Gossip Girl just sucks you in to their little universe….but you have to give it a chance….it’s so outrageous, and sexy, and so completely entertaining at the same time……very well done, well scripted and well acted….the great cast helps a lot….

I don’t see her as fitting the image of that age group anymore. I’m not saying that she’s old, but that I imagine her more as, say, a university senior as opposed to a freshman.
I used to love her. Now she annoys me. I don’t know how well she’d do in this part. She’s not that talented of an actress, and is going to play a famous person on Gossip Girl? Hope she can bring it.

Anything to spice up Gossip Girl! Season 2 was such a bore, I didn’t even watch the finale. Season 1 was fantastic, though. I’m hoping Season 3 will pick up.
I lost interest when Chuck lost the company to his uncle. I heard that he since got it back, but, like you said, it got boring and I didn’t get around to watching.
I was curious to watch the episodes where Georgina came back, but now I can’t even care enough to see how Blair fares with her as a roommate.

I feel like this is a step backward for her, career-wise. I mean, I know the show is really popular, but it seems like she should’ve matured from things like this.
I agree with you. I know actors play different ages, but she does seem a little old for that.
