Director Wishes Megan Fox Was More Grateful
Megan Fox reportedly criticized 'Transformers' director Michael Bay for focusing more on special effects than acting. Although Michael said he "doesn't mind" her remarks, he had a response for them.
"Well, that's Megan Fox for you," Bay tell the Wall Street Journal. "She says some very ridiculous things because she's 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing to do. You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, 'Okay
Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it,' he goes on. "I 100 percent disagree with her."
Michael credits himself with building a number of actors' careers, including Shia LaBeouf ('Transformers'), Nicolas Cage, Ben Affleck ('Armageddon'), Will Smith and Martin Lawrence ('Bad Boys'), so he wishes Megan were "a little more grateful."
"Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in Transformers," he says. "I like to think that I've had some luck in building actors' careers with my films."

Seriously! If she were smart, she'd realize this was her big break, learn as much as she can from it, and use it as a stepping stone to further her talent and career. But I guess insulting a big time director with a lot of connections and pull was easier.

Amen! You don't bite the hand that feeds you. Its not her age that is a problem it is her personality. At 23 I would have been greatful for any role in a movie making millions and millions of dollars. Her comments make me not want to see her in another movie or even see Transformers.

I'm sorry, Spielberg is an important director, Mann is an important director, Scorcese is an important director. . .Bay just makes films with hot chicks, hot cars, over-the-top special effects, and a crap load of explosions. And for him to take credit for Will Smith, Ben Affleck, and Nicolas Cages careers? I don't remember Bay directing 'Ali', or 'The Pursuit of Happiness'? And I sure as hell know he didn't direct 'Good Will Hunting' cuz there's not a single explosion in the entire thing. He's good at what he does, and he's not shy about what he does. Fox is an airhead but PLEASE the only revolutionary filmmaking Bay has EVER done is turning summer movies into subliminal infomercials.
Will name is still assoicated with explosion movies. Those are the moives that made him his millions.Neither Nic cage nor Ben Aflack be famous with out those movies that introudced them to the world.
Fox is nuts, she should have been more grateful. If it wasn't for this movie nobody knows her name right now.

Someone should tell Megan Fox that people don't go to see huge action movies because they want to see great acting. That's what Meryl Streep and Morgan Freeman are for. There's a reason Stallone and Schwarzenegger are famous and it's not for their acting abilities.

Depends, I saw Transformers #2 yesterday and honestly I though the fight scenes could have been cut down by 10mins and not hurt the movie. 10 more mins of dialogue would not have hurt at all. I do understand that Transformers is not about long dialogue. Just saying a little more character development would not have hurt. Now about the other stuff Mr. Bay says is spot on. Megan Fox does say the dumbest things.
If Micheal Bay were looking for great actors for Transformers, he would not have chosen Megan Fox....

She's very ungrateful. I remember when she played the daughter on "Hope and Faith", and he acting wasn't so great. Maybe she should be grateful that he focused more on special effects. She should be thankful that she has her name out there now and will be able to make more choices in the roles that she takes in the future.

The quote from Megan that he was referring to stated, ***"I mean, I can't s--- on this movie because it did give me a career and open all these doors for me. But I don't want to blow smoke up people's a--. People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting." *** (she said this in an interview to Entertainment Weekly according to usmagazine.com). So she's stating that SHE KNOWS she didn't get hired for her acting skills. She seems to know what her marketable skill is. But I also agree with Michael Bay, but bear in mind that while he has won an award or 2, is more known for his LACK of award-winning direction. He does seem to raise the radar on some stars, but it not exactly "all about him" either.

I have to agree. He comes off as nearly as arrogant as Megan.
I did know her from Hope & Faith, even though I only watched sporadically. And Will Smith? Independence Day, anyone? Fresh Prince, even? Nicholas Cage? Oh, did only did roughly 20 movies before The Rock. etc, etc.
These two are a perfect fit.

Ha Ha... that's funny. :) Good on Michael Bay for responding to the criticism. I don't have any idea if she is a stellar actress or not... but maybe someone in hollywood can give her a little advice. She may come off a little better to the public if she just kept her thoughts to herself until she "grows up a little more"... :)

Besides, I don't know why she says anything about "acting". It's not as if she's any good at it. Her sole purpose in the entire movie, is to be pretty. So she should just shut her mouth and do that.
And the shoes are awful. And I love my some purple stilettos normally. But I feel like the intensity of the color would've been enough POW on a simple almond toe pump. Or a peep toe platform. But not all those wires and stuff.

If he's referring to her quotes in the article that momster mentioned, I don't think she was offbase with her comments. I watch movies like Transformers because it's eye candy: CGI fights, things go boom, theater goes, "Ahh!" I don't watch so I can think, "Oh, the strength of that character is reminiscent of a Shakespearean heroine!"
Sure, Megan should be a little more careful with what she says, since making enemies in that industry could kill your career. On the other hand, Michael Bay sounds like some hurt teenage boy whose girlfriends have all told him his penis is too small.

I read the stuff she said about the movie and it's very similar to what you posted. And she mentioned that Transformers was more about the action and special effects than the acting, which is totally true. I don't think she was ripping on the movie. And she was very humble about her own acting skills saying that she'd like to be a great actress and she hoped she might be good someday, with some experience. (not word for word, obviously)

Exactly. I doubt she will be good someday, but at least she acknowledges the fact that she's got a long way to go. I didn't think she was criticizing the movie(s) at all.
I agree with you. She is always pretty humble about her acting skills. If anyone sounds arrogant it's Michael Bay (but he's a man and men are "allowed" to be that way, when a woman does it she shamed). It sounds like he just got his little man ego hurt. He is probably pissed that she wouldn't sleep with him.
I don't even think she was dissing the movie. All she did was call it out for what it is--a movie about action and special effects. She could have chosen her words more carefully, but that doesn't mean she's stupid or ungrateful.

Some actors can do a movie every four or five years and they're not forgotten, it's quality over quantity. Something tells me she'll still take parts she feels are "crappy" because her type only has a shelf-life of about two or three years today.

His comments seem just as childish as hers, though I do agree with his message. Megan Fox always came across as very ungrateful and selfish to me. You don't criticize a director and his movie that made you famous...at least not when you're being paid to promote and say good things about the movie.
On another note, I do like her shoes. :)
She screwed him for the role anyways its all over the blind items. Then she stopped screwing him during production of the 2nd film so he vowed to never cast her in another one of his movies again. Theres been many blind items about these 2. She is an uneducated, untalented, ungrateful and a complete waste of time. She will never be a serious actress she just sucks, shes like Jessica Alba eventually she will just fade away.

However, if she knew anything about movies, she would know that Michael Bay is renown for his action-packed-special-effects blockbusters. The acting is there, but it certainly isn't the focus. I do think she should be more grateful and not criticize the director in such a way. Use it as a jumping off point and get into something else that can catapult your acting career. Don't criticize Michael Bay for what he is essentially hired for.
I think both Megan Fox and Michael Bay should tone down their attitude a bit. Megan should appreciate this film as a stepping stone in her career, while Michael needs to realize that half the people that go to see Transformers are only there to stare at Megan. Neither are spectacular, but they both have become more well-known due to Transformers. Whether they like it or not, they have aided in each others success, although this succes is not as momentous as they would like us to believe. A few days ago Vera posted a blind item on here about a film star who was sleeping with a lot of the rest of the cast, but not the director. A lot of people seemed to attribute this item to Fox and Bay, perhaps if this is true his statements just reflect his annoyance with her?
Bah if he's focusing more on special effects than acting that mean that he chooses some bad actress for his movie no ?

I agree with most of the comments Megan needs to learn how to control her blabbing and be more greatful and Michael does sounds like someone ego was hurts and he should've not take credit for some of the stars he mentioned.
In the end you have to remember that she's famous for being beautiful, not her acting talent. Know your roots and be grateful to the people who opened doors for you.

The only thing she might be guilty of is copying her opinion from them to make herself sound smart, but that doesn't discredit the actual opinion itself. If Robert Pattinson can diss Twilight and its author, Megan Fox can diss Transformers. "Great acting" is not what got Megan Fox the job in Transformers. Her looks did. As a previous poster said, people do not see movies like Transformers for the stellar acting, so she needs to shut up and look pretty, or don't take action roles. If she wants serious acting roles, she should try for serious movies.

I'm not a gigantic Megan Fox fan, but I do love seeing interviews with her because she hasn't yet figured out how to answer a question without actually answering the question like most celebs do. It makes for some great quotes. :-)
As far as this particular issue, I don't think she was off base at all, I'm a huge Transformers fan and when I was sitting in the theater I couldn't help but notice that she barely even spoke in the movie, she pretty much just ran around holding various peoples hands.
I think Megan Fox needs to keep her mouth shit and grow up! She is really hot --until she opens her foul mouth and then she becomes very cold and ugly....Brian Austin-Green can do much better.
