Michael Jackson Memorial Plans Announced

CNN.com is reporting that a Michael Jackson's memorial service will be held  at 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, according to a person who was reportedly briefed by a family representative. The Staples Center seats 20,000 people.

Contrary to earlier reports, there will be no public viewing at the Neverland Ranch.

Also, the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) has joined the investigation into Michael's death. TMZ reports that Michael allegedly used aliases to obtain prescription drugs.

I heard there were porta-potties delievered to Neverland Ranch. Why would they do that if it wasn't there? This was just on the radio this morning, so I don't know anything. Just weird.

I also read that there will be a 25$ cover charge to attend...

I was watching the Today Show and Matt Lauer gave us a tour of the house. The parting shot was the entire street leading up to the ranch, lined with news vans. Even though the rumors of the viewing there turned out to be false, I guess they're holding out. Maybe the Porta-Potties are for them? Supposedly he might be laid to rest there, so maybe that's why??

We'll know when it happens. It will be ridiculous if they charge unless it covers the cost of renting the facility or the money goes stright into a trust for the kids. I hate to see anyone else making a decent chunk of money off of his death. The best part of all of this is he is finally at peace. ~ Liz ~

It makes me sick to think that anyone would try and profit off his funeral services. Please let the man rest in peace! ---em's

Well I for one don't think they should charge the fans to pay their last respects to Michael. I'm sure this is Joe Jackson's idea if it's true, anything to make a buck Joe.

Yep, I was going to say the same thing. If they are really charging money, it would be Joe Jackson. That guy's a jerk.

This reminds me of when Elvis died (I was 6 and remember it as if it were yesterday) and how manic people acted. This will definitely be a *new* version of the chaos that is to come!

I think it is okay if they charge for Michael’s funeral as long as it is worth it. If there will be big starts who would be there, then I think that would be fine, but it should not be overpriced. Maybe a donation would do.
