While working together on ‘The Spirit’ Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson got to talking about the world’s bee crisis. Apparently, the issue was really affecting Scarlett because she couldn’t stop talking about it. But Samuel listenend.
"Scarlett was always talking about how the bees were dying and the planet was going to die. I was telling her that people keep saying the bees are dying because they want to charge us more for fruit and vegetables," he explained.
"So she kept complaining about the bees, we had the same dressing room. ‘Sam, the bees are dying, we need to do something’, so I said, ‘Ok, what I’m going to do is buy you a beehive as your weeding gift’.
"And she thought I was kidding.So once they got married, and when the weather was right, I sent my sister out to a bee farm, we got about five pounds of bees. We got them some bee suits and hats as well."
Wonder what they did with the bee hive? I can’t imagine Scarlett and Ryan are maintaining it!

I was thinking the same thing!! I love Samuel L. Jackson but I don’t think I’d want to share a dressing room with him. Ryan Reynolds on the other hand….LOL
That is awesome. Samuel L. Jackson is pretty awesome, even if he’s in almost every movie nowadays. He’s going to play Nick Fury in something like NINE movies; that’s what his contract was for, anyway. Crazy.
If you look up Ryan’s guest appearance on David Letterman – he talks about it and I think he’d even brought pictures with him. It was hysterical!

Did you actually raise them? I’m starting read about a fair amount of celebrities who have beehives in their backyards as a hobby.
Raise them no, I just had an obsession with bugs. In my porch I had Jars and jars of ants, spiders, beatles and bees… I dont know why, but i just liked em. my cat occasioanlly helped me catch bees, but she would eat them :/. bad kitty
I am terrified of bugs! LOL! I’d fight 20 people before I took on one bug, serious. LOL!
This was one crazy gift i say. Samuel is hilarious.
I wonder what did they do with all the bees? i’d hire pofessional to look after them and teach me and then sell your own honey! Who wouldn’t wanted to try Scarlett’s honey:-)
That’s exactly what I would do: Hire a professional to teach me because I would want to take care of them myself. I wonder if she looks after them herself. IDK but I would kill to have that. I’m am so jealous.
