East Side Ink In Trouble With Police For Letting Rihanna Tattoo People

Yesterday I posted pictures of Rihanna getting a tattoo lesson at East Side Ink in NYC. Turns out it was a bit more than a lesson. The singer learned how to use the equipment and then actually gave herself a tattoo.

Now the company is under investigation.

East Side Ink co-owner Yadira told Ok! Magazine:

"We were all just hanging out, joking, laughing. Bang Bang decided that he wanted a tattoo from her."

Turns out Bang Bang drew up a design - "a simple umbrella with a swirly "R" under it" — which was then transferred onto his lower leg. Rihanna took the needle and made the drawing permanant.

Others then joined in.

Then two other artists, Josh Lord and Patrick Conlon, decided they wanted some Rihanna body art too, so they each got tatts, which were numbered "2" and "3" by the songstress in the order they were completed.

"We were all talking a laughing the whole time," says Yadira. "Joking that she was a pro now... She was so sweet, easy-going, down to earth."

Josh, who got the second tattoo, tells OK! about his decision to get inked. "And she was so nice, and so gorgeous and so charmed by her that we wanted one too."

So how much trouble could Rihanna really get into? Not much. $1,800 fine at most.

They say Rihanna could be slapped with three misdemeanors for the
offense, each with its own hefty penalty -- as much as $300 for the
first offense, $500 for the second and $1,000 for the third.

Would you ever let someone who's never used a needle before tattoo you? What about if they were famous?

I really want to see what it looks like. I once saw a documentary about tattoos and people who learn it in a 3 day course and they didnt do too well. i wonder what it looks like if one who never did i before does it.

As a long-time customer and friend to the artists involved, I've gotten to see the the tats, and they're very simple and small. Pretty good for the first ones she ever did.

i think she seriously needs to find better things to do.. has she done anything worth while lately??? the constant photo ops are getting annoying and no i would not let anyone without knowledge on how to use a needle touch me..

Eh, she'll pay it, and then it will be over with. No problem for anyone involved.

I don't see what the fuss about it really .. they WANTED her to do it. It's not like she held them down and did it against their will!! I am sure she will pay the "fine" and that will be that!

They could always say she's an apprentice. Apprentices have to tattoo so many people before they could get licensed. If that's the case, no laws were broken.

At the very least, she would have to have a Hepatitis B shot. What an ignorant little girl.

I guess the reason it's illegal is b/c it's in a place of business that gives tats....and little miss riri is not licensed to do so! Had they done this in the privacy of their own home she may not receive a fine for tatting! It's really all about safety of the consumer!---em's

I don't see what the big deal is. It's not like the shop does this all the time (I'm assuming, anyway). It's an isolated incident. Hopefully if the shop gets fined, she'll pay it for them.

What is the big deal? They wanted the damn tattoo. I guess it sucks in more ways than one to have the paps taken pictures of every and anything you do. I wonder how many people would care if this wasn't Rihanna. For all anybody know, she could have been practicing for her license. She obviously loves tattoos, so that definitely wouldn't be surprising. Some people like to play a sport or instrument in their spare time, she likes to do tattoos. So, what? I would love to learn how to give tattoos. Sounds like fun.

wow you're comparing a needle (that can be potentially dangerous if not used properly) to a soccer ball....nice!

The (potential) health violations are probably why she's being fined. Obviously she didn't force them to lend their skin, but they should've done it privately. What did they expect, with the paps looking on?

"If it wasn't Rhianna" has nothing to do with it. Are you implying we're biased against her for some reason? She's not licensed, and she's not an apprentice, end of story.

Considering she was giving the artists/employees tattoos, I don't think it's a big deal. It would be completely different if she was doing it to customers. I don't see how this was a health risk since she was around professionals who knew all of the precautions to take.

Yeah, I'm thinking this is just a rumor and the cops aren't even involved or they are just looking into it to make sure there were no customers involved.
