Daniel Radcliffe Really Opens Up

Now that ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ is about to hit theaters, Daniel Radcliffe is doing plenty of press. He got very honest and open with Esquire UK for their August issue.

"I’m an atheist, but I’m very relaxed about it," he says, before
joking: "There we go, Dan, that’s half of America that’s not going to
see the next Harry Potter film on the back of that comment."

And as for rumors that he and Emma Watson were an item?

Daniel assures us they never hooked upbecause "there’s something really incestuous about the idea of it."

That’s not to say, however, that he and others didn’t feel the effects of puberty while on set.

"There was a period when we were the only boys and girls any of us
knew, so you know, we were all unbelievably horny from about the third
film to probably about the end of the fifth,"admits Daniel. "Then it
all settled down. But, God, for a few years…"

Hmmm… make what you will of that ;)

Are you looking forward to ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’? I. Cannot. Wait!

Does hearing Daniel’s religious views influence your interest in the film?

I think Tom Cruise is absolutely nuts, but I still watch his movies. An actors religious views don’t usually influence their talent. I still can’t wait for the movie!!

  2. Annabel says:

A 20 year-old kid who wants to call himself an Atheist? Sad but not really much to be taken very seriously. Let’s wait and hear from him when he grows up a little.

  4. kiki says:

His comment was freaking hilarious. I really couldn’t care less about his religious views; that’s his business. I absolutely love the entire Harry Potter series. For all anybody know, his family could also be atheist. A lot 20 yr olds call themselves Christians. But, if 20 yr olds call themselves an atheist, it still means they have some growing up to do? Not really. If you can choose to be religious at that age, you can choose not to be.

  5. kiki says:

    ***oops. double post.***

  6. Danie says:

I don’t think that the views (be they political or religious) of an actor would impact my view on a movie. I go because I’m interested in the movie itself. I can’t wait for the next movie! :)

  7. Cashmommy says:

Don’t care…can’t wait for the movie. Love them all.

  11. Nimbus says:

These young stars so totally show up all those US ‘stars’…. they come across as real, down to earth and really cool…. not pretensious, narrsisistic and incredibly gready. Can’t wait for the movie to come out…. comes out on 15th here in NZ

  12. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

Hell no. It won’t influence me. I was raised by two disfellowshipped Jehovah’s Witnesses and have never been baptised myself. Who am I to judge? I have no religion in my life and am open to everything.

  13. Nicole says:

If religious views affected my seeing a movie or not, I would rarely see a movie. LOL I dont want to start a fight or debate or anything, but I’m a Christian, and people have to admit that Hollywood is run by Jews. I want to stress, that since it doesn’t affect my movie seeing, then obviously I dont really care. LOL

  14. Feewer says:

They’re all so grown up now. I still think of them as kids… well who doesn’t?

  15. merce369 says:

He’s def. a funny guy. I don’t care who or what he believes in or doesn’t. Can’t wait for the movie

  17. lara jane says:

    Exactly! So true!

  18. lara jane says:

It makes me sad that we’re more than halfway through the series. It was hard enough finishing those last few pages of Deathly Hallows (mainly because I thought the Epilogue was written as an afterthought, but I won’t go into it!), but when we see the credits roll on “part two” of Deathly Hallows… that’ll be a sad day indeed.

  19. missmarnip says:

i don’t watch tom’s movies b/c my money will flow into that dang organization. it’s the same as i wouldn’t buy a chris brown cd (even if i would like his music. i don’t btw.) imho it means a lot what these celebs are doing outside of their career. i thus decide if i should support them or not.

  20. exposition says:

They’re all smart kids, I’ll give them that.

  21. CapturingLife says:

He’s so hilarious. I am in love with his sense of humor about things. ;) All 3 of them have grown into such amazing young adults.

  22. back.in.plaid says:

It’s so crazy hearing about Dan’s religious views! I still think of him as a kid, even though I’m about his age haha. I can’t believe they all grew up! I’m back and I’m clad in plaid :)

  23. Lizzypoo says:

I care about his acting as Harry Potter not his religion or non-religion. I have been counting down to the movie. ~ Liz ~

  24. momster says:

My sentiments exactly! 9 days! Woo-Hoo!!!!!!

  25. lara jane says:

Exactly! If I thought about it, it might make me a little sad (I think it’s good to believe in something) but it has no bearing on my obsession with Harry Potter.

  26. DonnaJ says:

He can worship a grapefruit for all I care.

  27. smcose says:

    agree!

  28. Anonymous says:

Couldn’t care less what or who he worships. I just lurves Harry Potter movies.

  33. chocolateraisins says:

That’s arrogant of him. I don’t watch the movies for him. I watch them because I like the Harry Potter story. Hasn’t he been saying he’s not religious for like, four years?

I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE MOVIE!

  34. chocolateraisins says:
