Mariah Carey To Sing At Michael Jackson's Memorial Service

Mariah Carey To Sing At Michael Jackson's Memorial Service

According to TMZ, "multiple sources" are reporting that Mariah Carey will sing at Michael Jackson's memorial service tomorrow.

She will reportedly be singing the Jackson 5 song, I'll Be There.

I had never considered they might have popular singers perform at the service, although it makes perfect sense.

I wonder who else (if anyone else) will sing?

Did you apply for tickets to attend the service?

I was thinking some one like Jennifer hudson or even Madonna. They were good friends at one point. She(Madonna) always had admiration and respect for MJ.

Unfortunately, she's wasted her voice over the years with the whispering and hip hop crap. If you don't use it, you lose it. I saw some video of her singing Hero and she is no where near as great as she used to be. So, unfortunately, I doubt she'll sound like she did when she originally sang "I'll Be There." I guess we'll find out soon enough, LOL.

I completely agree with you.. she used to be so good but now just wastes her talent trying to act young..

You are absolutely right. The use of the overly breathy tone destroyed her instrument. People are trying to justify her performance as "emotional" and "restrained," but honestly, she either just doesn't have the chops anymore or she's got some kind of wretched respiratory infection (I believe it's the former), because it sounded awful. It's a shame, because she was such a powerhouse when she just stuck with her gift.

I totally agree. I think its sad that until MJ passed away alot of people had little respect for the man. It took the death of him for people to pull themselves together to realize the man was truly talented? beyond a doubt.

You're being the fucking jerk if you're willing to ignore his prior actions of molestation. Just because he died doesn't automatically make him an angel.

Ugh, he was never convicted of anything. People just saw him as a cash cow and figured he'd keep paying for people to leave him alone. When he had enough of that sh*t and stopped paying people and it went to trial he was found not guilty. Besides, what parent in their right mind takes a check to go away if something like that is true? Hell no, you follow through to the end and don't stop until the person is behind bars or dead. I think the guy was just grossly misunderstood. Just because someone is eccentric and weird and is stuck in a neverending quest to relive a childhood they never had, doesn't make them a pedophile.

Anonymous 4:54pm-- Just because someone is accused of being/doing "x" doesn't mean he/she DID do it (hence "innocent until proven guilty in the court of law")..... As for the celebrity singers, I have reservations. I think they will do a great job, but I'm just afraid that this whole thing will end up a circus rather than a remembrance of a great man.

I'm sick of people comparing it to O.J. That is TOTALLY different. The LAPD completely bungled the case. While we all watched the OJ trial on TV and knew all of the evidence that wasn't allowed into court, the JURY was hidden away and didn't know about all of the left out evidence. They've all since said if they were given the evidence everyone else in the world knew about, they would've found him guilty. You can blame Mark Furman and the LAPD for the OJ debacle. In the Michael Jackson trial there just wasn't sufficient evidence, hence, Not Guilty.

She may be a grown up fairy princess but she can sing. And, I hope to god they have celebrities that can actually sing. I mean, BET had Ciara singing a MJ song. Are you serious? That girl can't sing. When MJ sung 'Heal the World,' you could feel and hear the emotion in his voice. All Ciara was trying to do is get through a song she knew she had no business singing. But, this is turning into a show about celebrity performances--all will just be looking for attention.

Unfortunately it might turned out just that, perfomance of the celebrities, but i really hope it won't. They'll be there celebrate a great talent and remember him through his songs. I hope they do justice to the MJ.

I wish I could go to the memorial, but not for Mariah. I can't stand her. On her best day, she didn't compare to Whitney Houston. Her range never impressed me.

I wanted to register for the tickets, but I live in Europe, so, it's just not possible. I'm still extremely sad about his death and what he had to go through when he was alive. He was fund NOT guilty, and I'd always believed in him that he was just a child-inside innocent man.

Mariah's great, i like her as well. It's just I'm afraid the whole event will turn out to be another entertaining performance...
