Cameron Diaz Was Happy To Take On A Serious Movie Role

No more dancing in underwear scenes? But that’s Cameron Diaz’s signature move! How will the Hollywood industry survive without it? The actress says we are just going to have to find a way to move on because she won’t play that bubbly 23 year old anymore in films.

In fact, Cameron says she’s delighted to ditch her innocent on screen image.
The 36-year-old actress – who plays a mother whose daughter has terminal cancer in ‘My Sister’s Keeper’ – enjoyed the challenging maternal role because it was completely different to her usual parts.
Cameron – who shot to fame after starring in several hit comic films – said:

“I’m not going to be the 23-year-old ingenue again. If I tried to hold on to that, I’d be a pretty unhappy individual. I don’t make movies for my ego. I do them for my personal growth and to give something to an audience.”

Despite growing close to her 13-year-old ‘My Sister’s Keeper’ co-star Abigail Breslin, the blonde beauty is still unsure whether she will become a mother herself.
She explained:

“I don’t declare either way if I’m going to have children. I don’t know what will happen… and I’m totally fine with that.”

Earlier this month, Cameron said she found it easy to empathise with her character Sara Fitzgerald even though she is not a mother herself.

“I think we all related to the fact that there isn’t anything that you wouldn’t give someone that you love that deeply. You do whatever it takes to keep that person alive. I think that that’s something that spoke to most of us, for this film, and what I think is so effective in the film.”

I am REALLY REALLY REALLY SICK of EVERY post about Cameron having her age -36- all over it. Same thing with Jennifer Aniston and pretty much everyone else. Age is SO INSIGNIFICANT and I really wish you would STOP putting so much emphasis on it. Get over it, please its so detrimental to women to constantly pigeon hole them into some age bracket. And another thing PLEASE stop turning EVERY post involving women of ‘child bearing age’ into a will they will they not have kids situation, SO ANNOYING. She has said many a times that she doesnt care if she has kids, I think we ALL know this and I think we get the point. Its complete overkill. Ladies there is NOTHING wrong with being in your 30s and not having kids, dont let propaganda like this make you think otherwise. Its so obvious Vera has some ‘beef’ with women who don’t have kids, the underlying tones are all there.

i don’t think it is Vera, it’ the interviewers who keep hounding her about not having a family and the age thing is just typical hollywood. women used to be put to pasture after a certain age in hollywood and even though it’s gotten better, it’s still an issue. anyway, relax honey, it’s just an entertainment blog..if you have problems with all of these issues, start your own blog…

We have read the same thing many times before.
So I can understand what 10:54 AM wants to say.
I guess the bloger of this site wants to say something too.
I totally agree with 10:54 AM about not to have kids is ok.
We were not born to have kids.
We were born to do what we want to do.
Actually, I feel sorry for women having kids because they don’t have enough time to do what they want to do and they always complain about it.
All I can say is “that is what you chose, sweetheart”

I thought she did great in My Sister’s Keeper. I was weary about seeing her in it, but I had to see the movie, because the book was so great (better than the movie, though…).

  9. Nimbus says:

She’s not going to play the 23yr old bubbly chick anymore because we are all damn sick of her playing the 23yr old bubbly chick…..ha

“I’m not going to be the 23-year-old ingenue again” – she cant! she is not aging well and even at 36yrs old she can pass as 50

  14. KissKill says:

she looks… different. I just can’t really put my finger on it

  15. lara jane says:

    I still think they could’ve worked in a dancing-in-the-underwear scene. ;)

  23. Nicole says:

Whoa, how did you get 22,575 points?!?!

  24. CapturingLife says:

I saw a trailer last night for her new movie The Box. It looks really good but I just don’t know if I will see it. It’s so stupid but there’s just something about her that seems “off” a lot of times.

  25. lara jane says:

Ah, but James Marsden is her co-star! He could just sit in a chair for two hours and I’d pay $8 to see it.

  26. momster says:

A lot of my friends have seen it and said it was an amazing movie. They all say to take tissues. Alas, I’ll probably wait until it comes out on video, but I’m glad to see Cameron taking on more serious roles. She was always the fun “ingenue” but it’s good to see her getting movie roles with meat.

Having read the book and knowing that the film changed the ending already had me on the fence about seeing the movie. Knowing that she is playing the mother is a dealbreaker – there is nothing at all maternal about this woman, on top of which she comes across as quite vapid. A really poor casting choice.

  28. Nicole says:

She actually did quite a good job, in my opionion.

  29. Gisela says:

    LOL!! lara too funny…
