Meryl Streep And Amy Adams Talk About Gaining Weight For Julie And Julia

Meryl Streep and Amy Adams piled on the pounds while shooting 'Julie and Julia'.
The 'Doubt' co-stars reunited for the forthcoming film - which is about world-famous chef Julia Child and writer Julie Powell, who challenged herself to cook Julia's recipes - and admit the amount of food they had to eat for their roles wasn't good for their waistlines.
Meryl said:

"I gained 15 pounds - I'm still trying to lose it! It was worth it."

Amy added:

"I ate a lot! Cooking is like love - it should be approached with abandon."

The actresses were unable to escape gaining weight as they were ordered to enjoy the food featured in the scenes by director Nora Ephron.
Nora revealed:

"That's one of the things I said in rehearsal. Everyone has to eat in the scenes, and everyone really went for it."

Now THAT'S my kind of movie! While I won't go to the theatre for this one because I like to reserve baby sitter days for high budget films where things blow up, I will most certainly rent this. I adore Julia Child and cooking in general.

Who would you say is your favorite chef? And have you tried to make their recipes in the kitchen?

Amy Adams is one of my favorites actresses, and Isla Fisher... Same thing, right? J/K.... lol. I reserved this movie on Netflix probably 6 months ago because I rarely get to see girly movies in the theatre! lol! (Although, I did see My Sister's Keeper by myself while my husband and his brother saw Year One.)

I remember watching her when I was pretty young. At that time, everything she made sounded gross to me. LOL But I loved listening to her.

I'm a big Giada fan when I want yummy, semi-healthy food, Ina (the Barefoot Contessa) when I want something rich and possibly decadent, and Paula when I want something slathered in butter...lol

I would be more into the idea of all that good food, if an actor friend of mine hadn't told me about the "spit bucket" that's used so you don't get full during scenes when you have to do a few takes.

I love Adams' quote about how food should be approached.

I'm in LOOOOOVE with Chef Anne Burrell. I love watching her on Iron Chef as Mario Batali's sous chef. Her solo show is on point, her food approachable. She has great cooking style.
