Gwyneth Paltrow Is Clean

I’m sure Gwyneth Paltrow is always clean, of course, but she just completed a three-week detox program called the "Clean" detox, so I’m just playing with words ;) Gwyneth blogged about it on her GOOP website.

As I write this, I am finishing the amazing three-week-long "Clean" detox program detailed below… this program allowed me to work and exercise regularly, something I cannot do if I am on a liquid-only detox.

I feel pure and happy and much lighter (I dropped the extra pounds that
I had gained during a majorly fun and delicious "relax and enjoy life
phase" about a month ago).

I also really enjoyed learning about the incredible health benefits of resting your digestive system, etc."

Gwyneth provides more information about her detox, including who designed it, in her newsletter, which you can read here.

What do you think about detox diets? Have you ever tried one, and if so, what was it like?

I tried a detox a year ago for a supposed “health benefit” not weight loss. The health benefit was suppose to be a cleanse recommended by a so-called “Chinese Herbal Specialist” not a doctor—I could have just taken a bottle of Miralax and it probably would have done just the same thing. I only lasted five days because my strength was gone and my body needed fuel. Detox diets are not realistic for most people in my opinion (certainly not for me anyway). We don’t all have chefs, personal trainers, nannies, ample free time, etc… Everyone knows the best way to lose weight is veggies, fruit, lean meats, fish, water, and exercise. Simple, there are no need for these detox extremes as most nutritionists will tell you. Actually, if you deprive the body of essential nutrients it goes into starvation mode and stores fat which is not good.
I find her arrogant and irritating!

  5. KatieS says:

She needs to do another detox because she is still full of crap.

  6. tati says:

I’ll prob check out the book at the library. Not a huge fan of GP. Tend to avoid her movies, if possible. Love how Kathy Griffin rips into her.

Oh my goodness…. why does everyone hate Gwenyth so much???? Detoxes and cleansing can be a healthy addition to your life! Just like the occasional grilled cheese is nice… so are fresh juices/ salads!

I adore her & Goop & all the interesting information she shares!!

  10. emches says:

Not that I hate Gwen…b/c I love her…..but please put the weight back on. That’s just too skinny!—em’s

  11. KatieS says:

Then you are her target audience. I for one do not buy into her elitist, better than you attitude. I did check out her site once and found it pretentious. For her to recommend items that are hundreds of dollars and out of the price range for the majority of the everyday person, yet claim to want to enlighten people….pure bullcrap.

It is very similar to the Fat Flush Plan that was around 10 years ago.

You can download the eating plan for free from the Doctors site, just eat the foods allowed and stay away from the stuff it says to stay away from, the fiber is probably psyliium so have that for bfast and drink lots of water.

  14. merce369 says:

nope, i loooooove food, but i eat enough to sustain myself, drink a lot of water, consume fiber and exercise.

  15. momster says:

I thought this “clean” detox was a Scientology thing. My old chiropractor used to do it every so often. I could always tell b/c his breath became very metallic-smelling. He swore by it, though!

  16. Carolyn3426 says:

Um I like to eat… so I am thinking a cleanse would not go over very well with me!!

  17. hd1 says:

I just wonder what was so “yummy” about her month that she felt she had to detox. You know it wasn’t a cheeseburger and fries.

  18. Anonymous says:

    oh hell that was funny!

  19. Where's your husband, Gwyneth? says:

Ya, like I was sayin’ she’s doing all the cleansing in the world and he’s prob.ly with some hot curvy girl. Who wants to f*** bones?

  20. Nicole says:

I’ve never tried a detox plan, I probably should though, I’m so unhealthy! lol

  21. Monica says:

Just be your natural size!!! Eat in moderation and healthily most of the time, drink lots of water, and do some exercise. That’s all ya need to do! Special diets aren’t really necessary.

  22. Melanie says:

I can’t believe that she really needed to lose a couple of pounds … well, maybe that’s why I’m overweight and she’s a skinny minny ;-)

  23. Anonymous says:

detox is just another word for crash dieting!!

  24. Wonder_Woman says:

I actually looked up that detox diet yesterday, I dont know if Id survive. read it from this site: http://www.detox.net.au/articles/cayenne-maple-lemon-cleanse.htm

  25. meme says:

That’s not the one she’s talking about. Hers costs $350

  26. DonnaJ says:

    I could do it!!!

    …until lunch time rolls around.

  27. Jenelle says:

I have no idea why, but I find her SO obnoxious!!

  28. meme says:

I do. Because she’s a pretentious stuck up beeyotch.

  29. Anonymous says:

Ok even at her heaviest (really like what, 120 pounds maybe??), she would never need to go to such extreme lengths to drop a couple pounds. Why can’t she just be happy with the slender frame she already has?

i am currently on the acai-berry 14 day cleanse…i am on day 6. i eat and exercise normally. honestly its just like a laxative that makes sure everything is out of your system…lets see on day 14 if i feel a difference that’s worth it.

  31. jetgirl says:

Ok, so can you function normally? I mean I have to work and do regular activities…I wouldn’t want to be running to the bathroom every few minutes.

  32. jetgirl says:

Interesting….I put the book on my wishlist for Amazon. Maybe I can get around to reading it this summer.

  33. CapturingLife says:

No thanks. I had to do one and it was not fun at all. I felt like total crap and just blech. I’d rather cleanse my body by just eating right.

  34. lara jane says:

There are many ways to detox that don’t cost $350. And she wonders why people find her pretentious! She tries to be relatable but falls far, far short.

  35. DonnaJ says:

    Hellz yeah!

  36. clarinetkim says:

Another Gwenyth fad…remember when she showed up for a premier with suction cup marks all over her bare shoulders?

  37. Anonymous says:

Yep you can function normally. I don’t use the bathroom more than twice a day and (sorry for the not so pretty thought that may come to your head) its not like I feel as if I might explode…

  38. Wonder_Woman says:

LMAO thats why I posted one for the poor folks

  39. Monica says:

    ahah thanks!!
