Mariska Hargitay lived through an extremely scary incident when her lung collapsed while on the set of Law & Order: SVU. And then it happened again! Now she’s talking about it to Redbook Magazine, for the first time.
Last October, while shooting an episode, doing her own stunts as usual, Mariska jumped and landed in such a way that a microscopic bleed began in her lung tissue. In January of this year, she was admitted to the hospital.An X-ray revealed her right lung was 50 percent collapsed. "I began to panic," she said. "I was so scared." A medical procedure was performed to stave off more serious surgery – which arrived two weeks later anyway. Though assured she was now in fine shape after recovering, "on March 5, it happened again. I was one out of 1,000, statistically."
Afterward, she says that she came to realize,
"I had so much to lose, so much to live for … I have so many blessings, and I’ve learned from all of my experiences and my losses."
I’m so glad Mariska is alright. Seriously, how TERRIFYING!

I didn’t know collapsed lungs were so serious. Was it becuase of the bleeding? My mom had pneumonia last year and her lung partially collapsed and they told her just to stay home and take it easy for a week. Must have been different circumstances…

One of my friend’s had a collapsed lung. He was saying that he was having a heart attack and my other friend was telling him he just had gas.lol. anyway he asked that for an ambulance. good thing he went to the hospital.
Why is she still talking about this like it happened last month? I know it was a scary situation but get over it, Thank God and be glad that you are okay. No sense in living in that moment forever.
The mag probably asked her about it, and it’s a scary moment in your life. It’s obvious that she’s over it, but it’s definitely a big lesson to learn. MH is a beautiful person, inside and out – you don’t have to be such a douche about the situation. =/

I would have been terrified. Mainly because the doctors said everything was alright and then it happened again. Glad she is okay. She is beautiful.
