Fact Or Fiction: Britney Spears Is Converting To Judaism

Fact Or Fiction: Britney Spears Is Converting To Judaism

Rumor has it that Britney Spears is converting to Judaism.
The 'Womanizer' singer is reportedly really serious with her agent Jason Trawick and is willing to ditch her Christian faith and become Jewish.
The 27-year-old star has been photographed wearing a Star of David necklace during her world tour and has even recruited a rabbi to help her study the faith.
An insider said:

“Britney wants to try the religion Jason was brought up with.”

I love how the insider talks about religion like it's a pair of shoes.

It wouldn't be the first time Britney has changed faith. She dabbled in Kabbalah – which is a mystical off-shoot of Judaism – in 2005 after Madonna suggested it.

What do you think? Just because she wears the Star of David means she wants to become Jewish? It's not that simple! And is she really that serious with Jason that she wants to covert to his religion?

Fact or fiction?

I agree. Nothing wrong with finding out about it and then making an informed decision.

I doubt this is true, but if it is, then it's no big deal. I'm not into religion but I wouldn't mind researching some to see if one fits me better. As long as she is doing this for the right reasons, not just for someone else.

Yeah, you never join a religion for someone else.... That's what my Husband did. We wouldn't have met if he hadn't, but still... We have left the religion since.

Do you think she'll really do it, or just dabble in it like with Kabbalah? (Really? My CAPTCHA is 9+8??? Ugh... c'mon - It's Friday, and I'm really tired!!, I may have to get out a calculator! Okay, I know it, but it's one I had to think about... LOL)

I own a necklace with the Star of David on it as part of the "grafted in" symbol as quoted in the Bible. Doesn't mean I'm converting to the faith.

C'mon guys, every kid is different. Some kids really get attached to their pacifiers, blankys, or bottles. My brother kept his pacifier until he was 3 1/2. I kept my bottle until I was 4 1/2. I drank from a normal cup, but at night I wanted my bottle. My mom filled it with water and I slept with it. I finally wanted a big girl bike and my parents wouldn't let me get one until I gave up the bottle, because big girls don't have bottles. So I gave the bottle to my doggy (don't ask LOL), hopped on my bike, and never looked back. LOL. Kids get attached to these things, it's normal.

you should look up the effects of pacifiers on children's teeth, tongue and gums. You may want to take that statement back.

Just looking at the picture to the left. Usually people pick something that either describes themselves or that they relate to. What I see is a cheap-looking chick, wearing pasties and smoking god knows what? If you want to post something like that, fine, but don;t expect people not to react.

I'm Jewish and my boyfriend isn't religious at all, but technically, Christian. He wants to convert, but the process is grueling and takes many years. It's not something where you can dip yourself in water and be blessed by a Rabbi. It's learning Hebrew, a very difficult language, reading from the Torah, which is a strictly- Hebrew scripture with NO vowels, making it VERY hard to read. You have to learn about all the qualms of Judaism and know it front and back.

Of course, if you're a celebrity, I'm sure there is a Rabbi to give you a discounted class. But those people should be ashamed of themselves, and most Rabbis put you through the most grueling process to test your faith. I doubt Britney has time for this, but if she decides to become Jewish, good for her. I find it a really moral way of life, living by standards a little different than other religions. It's very strict so I think it would do some good for her. I just hope she doesn't take it lightly.

Do you really think that she would take something like this seriously???? I just don't see her having the morality or mentality to do that.

zeze zeze said:

It really doesn't matter, it is not like she actually practices Christianity, so her becoming a non-practicing Jew wouldn't change anything.

When you get down to the core of the big 3, they all pretty much say the same thing, and she pretty much doesn't follow any of them.

probably true..

Britney does not have the focus or time to go through the long and arduous conversion process. There are countless hours of study and preparation. The length and difficulty involved is designed to keep the fly-by-night wannabe Jews from converting arbitrarily.

She probably just thinks the necklace is nice and doesn't even know what it means. I don't think there is any truth to this "insider" report.

Wearing a Star of David and studying with a rabbi doesn't necessarily mean she's converting.

I wouldn't convert for anyone (whatever my religion was). I'm of the mind that if you're "right" for each other, you shouldn't have to change who you are or what you believe in. Old fashioned, maybe? Idealistic, yeah.

So she's going back to the time before the freedom of Christ.. how interesting. She will miss the part that says..

You and I are both sinners. Everyday we continually sin against the law of God. We hate people around us. We covet what others have. We lust and commit adultery in our hearts. Yes, "none is righteous, no not one." (Romans 3:10). How then can we escape the wrath of God against sin? Can we do something to make up for it before God? No, for we continually pile up our sins. We cannot pay for what we have done through any of our good works (Ephesians 2:8). But God has provided the way: Jesus Christ. Christ said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by Me." (John 14:6). Jesus was a true and righteous man, one who could pay for our sins (Hebrews 2:17). At the same time He was true God, so that He could bear God's wrath against sin for our sakes (Romans 8:3,4). God loves us that much.

I though her children were her religion. I don't believe this however I am puzzled by the necklace. Hope it's not true. You don't change religion for someone else, in this case, her current boy friend, Jason Trawick.

I dont really understand how someone could change their religion at a whim. I feel like you should follow the religion because you believe it not because thats what someone else suggests or believes.

For the posters saying they wouldn't change their religion for love- yippy for you, but you've missed the crux of this entirely. No one said (as lara jane) that Brittany "should" convert- she may want to do this of her own volition. In other words you're right: no one "should have to" change to gain the love of another, but who are you to say that IF one wants to adopt the faith of their true love, that they should NOT??
My wife never felt very connected to her birth-faith and at some point in our 20 year (so far) relationship she voiced her positive feelings about converting to Judaism...not because I said she should ( I didn't even suggest it) but because she felt a spiritual connection...and I guess because she also loves me too. That's OK with y'all, "I ain't changin" types, right?!

When a high profile celebrity wants to convert to judaism, she is in a very priviledged position to influence others through her actions. To convert for another person for the right reasons is an altruistic and consdierate gesture in a realtionship whereby this could have positive impact. In other words, if her conversion has a positive impact on all members - and future members - of that family and it would result in better harmony for the faith and future of her family, then it can only be a good thing. I doubt the average person would have the stamina to make such a choice and carry it through for the sake of others. It takes a lot of courage and conviction - good luck to anyone wishing to live their life according to a moral code. it is not easy but if more of us were to do it, we wouldn't see the destruction of our planet, the break down of relationships and the abuses suffered through drugs, crime, sexual exploitations and other malfuctioned human behaviour. idelaistic? perhaps a tad but far better than the other choice.
