Katherine Heigl Defends Herself And Her R-Rated Movie

Katherine Heigl says some people have labeled her the "foot-in-the-mouth-gal" for some of her public comments (such as her criticism of the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ writers for her storyline material a couple of seasons ago and her criticism of ‘Knocked Up’), and she has a response for those people.

"I keep thinking, In what way? Because I said something you don’t agree
with? Because I said something you don’t like? I’m just telling you my
opinion. I hate the idea that I can’t be honest about how I feel about
things because it’s going to pi** somebody off who feels differently.
That seems preposterous to me."

Well, you can’t say Katherine doesn’t stand her ground ;)

She also has no qualms about her latest romantic comedy, ‘The Ugly Truth,’ being R-rated.

"I didn’t want to do another PG-13 movie," she says in the August issue of InStyle.
"[In any real-life contentious relationship with romantic
underpinnings] you’re probably going to drop the F-bomb once in a
while. You’re probably going to say some things that are kind of harsh.
And you’re definitely going to talk about sex. It doesn’t have to be so
Snow White and Prince Charming. That’s my problem with a lot of
romantic comedies: Everyone spends so much time trying to make sure
it’s the fairytale because that’s what the rating calls for."

You have to admit, that’s true ;)

‘The Ugly Truth’ co-stars Gerard Butler. Are you interested or does the rating turn you off?

The fact that she made an R rated movie doesnt’ offend me (good for her!) the fact that it looks really, really, really bad offends me!***annie***

  2. Chery423 says:

I can’t wait to see her new movie.

  3. Carmen says:

I don’t like this girl, but the movie looks funny and Gerard is hot so I may see it.

  4. Embee says:

I like what I’ve read/seen of her. I think her acting is strong and that she is far more beautiful than 90% of her colleagues in HWood. Her “bold” statements have never rubbed me wrong; in fact, she reminds me of my girlfriends. The rating thing is irrelevant, please. I’m in my 30′s; an “f-bomb” is hardly offensive, neither is physical intimacy. Sheesh.

  5. KatieS says:

I like how unapologetic she is. She says what she means and she means what she says. Its a shame others are not so forthcoming. I think she’s a pretty good actress and would go see the movie.
The rating is no big deal.

  6. KatieS says:

    double post

No the plot turns me off.

  8. LoveLeeR says:

well, for what it matters, i don’t like her, and i dislike reading about her.
I just needed to say that.

  9. Harper says:

I would pay money to watch him make a sandwich…. could care less about her.

  10. Anonymous says:

she’s the worst actress–unfortunately, anything she makes is a flop. it’s definitely rental-only

  11. Linda123 says:

I think a lot of Grey’s fans agree that the writing wasn’t the greatest last season. But the way she said it made Katherine seem egotistical and ungreatful to the show. I think it’s just bad form to publically criticize your co-workers, especially when you’re still on the show.

  12. Lizzypoo says:

Don’t know if I’ll see it or not. Doesn’t matter to me what the rating is. ~ Liz ~

  13. merce369 says:

    Gerard , Gerard, Gerard.
Can’t wait to see the movie!

  14. tati says:

    I’ll wait for the dvd

  15. starlitbetty says:

I actually rate if films are going to be good or not by if they’re rated R like dramas, horrors, action (usually not romances) but if they’re going to be any good they’re probably rated R… I don’t do this all the time but if I’m trying to decide whether or not to see a movie the R ones are better, besides unless you’re under 17 its not a problem unless you don’t like profanity or sex.

  16. SimplyNee says:

I totally agree. What’s the big deal with the ratings thing?

  17. Wonder_Woman says:

I cant wait to watch this movie, gerard and katherine, YUM!!!!!

  18. Annon says:

This movie still looks good (and funny!). But Katherine just doesn’t seem like the “girl next door” that a lot of people try to portray her as. Personally, I’m not a fan. But despite that, I’ll still see this movie. ;-)

  19. CapturingLife says:

I’m so excited to see this movie!

  20. Jenelle says:

    cannot wait to see it!

  21. lara jane says:

I’m not a fan of Katherine’s but I see where’s she’s coming from. On the other hand, she’s not a good enough actress to be able to spout off like that, she needs to play the game!

As far as the R rating, whatever. Nothing could turn me off to a film starring Gerard Butler.

  22. lovebug66 says:

Agree completely about Gerard Butler. *swoon*

  23. smcose says:

I may be the odd one out.. but I like her!!!! The movie looks cute, but it is more rental worthy/

  24. DonnaJ says:

I love her honesty. I’m there.

  25. Anonymous says:

I’m not a fan of hers cause she sucks. she can keep all her opinions to herself and she would still suck.

  26. elaine123 says:

Now there’s a mature, intelligent comment.

  27. Feewer says:

I understand that she doesn’t want to do an other PG-13 film. I’m probably gonna go see this.
