‘Top Chef’ host Padma Lakshmi is looking to branch out from her hosting duties. She signed a development deal with NBC and NBC’s studio, Universal Media Studios, to develop a half-hour sitcom that Padma would star in.

[T]he show will star Lakshmi as a woman working in the culinary world. (One possible title being mulled: Single Serving."

I know some of you are wondering how hosting a show translates into being a sitcom star, but Padma has acting credits. She was in the miniseries ‘The Ten Commandments,’ ‘The Mistress of Spices,’ ‘Boom,’ and ‘Glitter.’

Currently Padma and producers are meeting with writers to talk about ideas.

Does this sound like a show you’d be interested in watching?
