Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are set to live apart right after the arrival of their newborn twins. Rumor has it that the couple – who have been married for 12 years and have three children together – have decided to set-up home in different properties in New York. The reason? Matthew wants to remain in Manhattan and Sarah and the children want the quieter life Brooklyn can offer.
A source said:
“It would be a surprising decision to make so soon after the arrival of their twins. Having the babies born healthy and happy was a dream come true, so it’s strange that they might have to spend some time apart at this stage.
“No one can quite believe it, but it’s clear they’re making the right decision for all the right reasons.”
Sarah is determined for her twins – who were born using a surrogate mother – to grow up away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The 44-year-old actress has already purchased a nine-bedroom house in Brooklyn, where she believes the children will enjoy a better life.
The source added to Look magazine:
“Sarah clearly loves Manhattan, but she has three children now. It might be better for them to grow up somewhere calmer where they can play in the park and feel safe, rather than in the madness of Manhattan.
“But Matthew loves their townhouse in Manhattan because it’s close to his work on Broadway. He’s currently in negotiations to perform in an off-Broadway theatre production and it wouldn’t make sense for him to commute into town every day for work.”
Either way, it will be a strain on this family. If Matthew stays in Manhattan, then he misses out on being with the kids and helping Sarah raise them. If Matthew moves to Brooklyn, he will have a longer commute to work and be resentful.
What do you think about this rumor? Would Matthew really live apart from him family because he wants to be closer to Broadway? Or is this an exaggeration?

Sounds like maybe this was something they should have discussed before they dragged two more kids into their mess.
This sounds very rumor-like. If there was a decision-making issue with the two of them, I doubt they would immediately separate into different homes instead of compromising. These two just had twins; I can’t see them moving away from each other.
God, why have more kids if your marriage is on the rocks?
If this story is true then Matthew is a total dlck! how selfish can you be? your family should come first.

I don’t believe this. It’s just a rumor. If someone would actually ask them I think they would just laugh and deny it.
Where there is smoke. I can believe it. Madonna and Guy vowed they were a couple and it ended up they were actually living apart for a year or more and they adopted a kid. Staying together to get benefit of new kids seems to be the thing to do these days.
Brooklyn is a commute? Transparent excuse.
I remember watching Montel, about 2-3 years ago, and Sylvia Browne was on. One of her predictions were that these two would break up.
I always kept that somewhere in the back of my mind everytime I saw a pic of them, and hey, who knew, she got it right.

They want to live apart ’cause MB is not that into her (or any other women for that matter). Its a well know yet quiet little fact that’s his preference and SJP has known for years but they like to give the illusion of a happy, hetero marriage. Be nice if he just came clean.

Personally I think he needs to stay closer to his boyfriend, not to Sarah and the kids.
Another fabrication by the media. They may (or not) have bought that house in Brooklyn and may (or not) have kept their place in Greenwich Village. Perhaps when one needs to be closer to Manhattan they will use the other place. Not unheard of for people who work in NYC to have more than one place if they can afford it. Matthew is not on Broadway all that much anyway. He was on for a couple of months this past spring and will do an off Broadway play for his friend that should last about 2 months. Not that much time when you think about it. Probably as long as a movie shoot would last. Another tabloid rumor because they bought a new place. Big deal.

You have GOT to be kidding me. LOL! The commute from Brooklyn into Manhattan is MINUTES. LOL! This story has got to be BS and if it isn’t, then they are breaking up, period.
I thought the same thing too, the commute from BK to the city is minutes away….a little travel on the NYC subway line is still cheaper than taking a cab.
I think someone is playing tricks because that is the same plot line that Miranda and Steve had on SATC, either that or it’s a crazy scheme Ferris is using to get out of another day of school. Save Ferris!

they have been speculating for years that they would separate and they haven’t yet i call it it B.S. once again
The twins are babies and wont have a clue where they are and James Wilkie is used to the city and his school. This is bull for a family to be separated show me that they are not really a family or it would evenot come up for discussion.
I really like SJP and Matthew Broderick, but I really think this sounds like it maybe a split coming for them.
