New Clip From G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

As a child, I played with G.I. Joe only when my male cousin would come over. I never watched the cartoon or kept up with the storyline, but this movie seems so far off from what I remember.

Did G.I. Joe have a special suit that allowed him to do crazy things? Or was he just a fighter?

Either way, here is a clip to get you excited about the August 7th release for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. I can't get used to Sienna Miler with that dark hair. :)

My brother had GI Joes and used to watch the cartoon when it was his turn to pick on Saturday mornings but I really don't remember what the story line was. My hubby wants to see the movie only to see if they say "...and knowing is half the battle. GI JOE!" like they did at the end of the cartoons. LOL, he's such a nerd!

I actually did watch the cartoon when I was little (I had 2 brothers, and was overruled a lot :), and this movie looks so ridiculous. They were soldiers! I mean, they had some cool flying gadgets and stuff, but other than that, they were just real people who fought bad guys. This whole "suit" thing in the movie is aggravating, and takes it from what could be a cool "remake" to a cheesy action film. Even Sienna Miller said..."Come, on. It's G.I. Joe. Our acting skills weren't really put to the test" Throw in Marlin Wayans, and you've made yourself a movie I will never see.

wtf. The movie just looks like a bunch of explosions, bad acting, and screaming. That does not appeal to me. It sounds so fake when Channing Tatum says, "Ha, I didn't expect that." What a pointless line. What do you mean? What did you expect to happen after you leapt through a train? Did you expect to just land in a field of roses? Whatever. This movie looks dumb. I'm back and I'm clad in plaid :)

I watched the cartoon on Saturday mornings and this is nothing like what I remember. My husband watched it as well and said it is so far off base, but just like Transformers, they are going for a younger audience. I think it looks dumb, but my younger cousins can't wait to see it.

I played with the toys, and my boyfriend has read the entire comic book line/watched all the cartoons. This is nothing like the original. No - they did not have special suits. They were (just as has been previously posted) soldiers. Supposed to be the best in their field, but none the less, just everyday men and women trying to save the world from the likes of Destro and Cobra Commander. I suspect this movie will have somewhat of a Spiderman 3 ending where we only see a bit of Cobra Commander (much like Venom). At least Transformers stuck to the original plot of the Autobots taking on the form of the most dominant life form on the planet. Sadly yes as a consumer culture there are more people with automobiles than they know what to do with. I will however likely get dragged to this as it's something of my youth. Hollywood is marketing to the kids of the 80's at present because we're the ones spending.
