"For me I’ve been really, really lucky because my husband is super
supportive and he’s got his own career and his own thing and he
recognises that what I do I’m passionate about and is important to me. He’d never ask me to compromise that so I could be
home to make him dinner. It is 2009 after all."

~Katherine Heigl on how she and Josh Kelley’s relationship functions.

I think that Katherine needs to think before she speaks. It’s all good and well that she gets to do what she loves, but it makes it appear that her work comes first and her husband is second and he’s supposedly understands that? Right!

  2. Nanea says:

My husband and I are both successful in our jobs, and we both like to come home and cook dinner for the other, depending on who’s had less work that day. It’s fun, it’s relaxing, and it’s a great way to get all the work-related stuff out of one’s head. Maybe KH should just admit already that she can’t cook or she wouldn’t say something as ridiculous as that.

  3. sunnyman says:

She is so smug & stuck on herself; it’s sickening.

What an idiot… . Open mouth, insert foot.

Faboosh. I love what she says. Rock on girl. Nice husband catch, too.

  6. darbi4packers says:

I think she is annoying, too…always so negative. I’m going to try and find that Newsweek article, lol!

I kind of agree with her. There’s no way I’d ever be with someone who expected me to cook his dinner every night. No 1950′s housewife for me.

If anyone else said this the responses would be so different. I’m not especially fond of Katherine Heigl but I do like the message she is sending. Even though it is 2009, women are still (generally) expected to do those domestic things as well as working.
As proven by all the commenters screeching they do it all.
That’s great, but it shouldn’t be the expectation.

  9. bgduckie_01 says:

well i hate cooking. i’m just not creative in that area. i’ll cook small meals once in a while but not the first thing i jump into. luckily my bf likes to cook. but i gotta agree, it’s 2009 and women work as well. i think it should be even between husband and wife. hey, if the woman loves to cook and doesn’t mind i say go for it! but i dont think it should be expected…but that’s just me.

i don’t want to hate her, but everything published about her makes her a pretty sad puppy! like making dinner is a big sacrifice! it’s called boiling water! if you really want to get fancy, use a slow cooker! she’s either a real loser (as in the spoiled and not as “smart” as she thinks she is) or she’s really pissed off someone with media pull.

  11. tati says:

i doubt she was staying home to cook

  12. Gisela says:

HA!! what an amateur I work and come home to cook dinner…she’s a lightweight. Katherine, you wuss!

  13. Wonder_Woman says:

ME TOO! Whats the easiest meal for you to muster up?

  14. Anonymous says:

    Why should she have to?

  15. merce369 says:

I guess this is what it’s like to be a celebrity, you can say to your husband, honey don’t even dream of having homemade dinner , i’m done with it :)

  16. smp209 says:

she’s starting to bug me, it seems like she can’t say anything without some underlying nastiness to it

  17. Gisela says:

Is funny you say that, I read that Newsweek had an article asking why is Katherine Heigl so annoying? Someone actually wrote an article about it.

  18. petitlardons says:

She has to stop talking because what she says is not interesting at all.

  19. Danie says:

Not sure of what to make of that statement….

  20. DonnaJ says:

Its very obvious who wears the pants in their relationship.

  21. merce369 says:

    notice exactly the same thing

  22. Anon Y. Mous says:

The list grows: Diddy, Kanye, Heidi&Spencer, Tom Cruise, Katherine Heigl.

I just want them all to get sucked into a black hole already.

  23. Anonymous says:

What?! So since its 2009 women shouldn’t and couldn’t make dinner??? I hold down a full time job, currently 17 weeks pregnant and tend to our home. Best of all I LOVE doing it!!! Gee, since I’m so domesticated I MUST be living in 1959!

  24. Anonymous says:

Is this Kendra? It is isn’t it???? Hey, girl!!!

  25. CereliaF says:

I think what she said is being taken too seriously. All she really said was that she gets to focus on what she loves doing (work) and that her husband doesn’t force her to do anything else. I say good for her and him. I’m one of the rare one’s that actually likes Katherine.

  26. Polly says:

I agree. I think all she’s trying to say is that she appreciates having a husband that doesn’t expect her to sit home and wait on him a-la June Cleaver. Geez, relax people. I’m no Heigl fan but this is an odd statement to get all uppity about.

  27. DonnaJ says:

I like Katherine very much (ever since My Father the Hero), but I still think she wears the pants in the relationship.

  28. KatieS says:

I agree, and I am also a rare one that still likes her. I like how she says what she means and sticks to her guns, and is unapologetic for it.

  29. DonnaJ says:

    LMAO!!!!

  30. Wonder_Woman says:

    I know I snorted lmao

  31. Anonymous says:

Lol sorry to disappoint you guys but I’m just an average lady living in Eastern PA haha Oh and I have B cup boobs not DDDs haha

  32. smp209 says:

i saw that too! it’s interesting isn’t it? it just seems to me that everything she says has such a negative spin on it, like she can’t just say anything without having it be sarcastic or just condescending
