Lauren Conrad Hopes LA Candy Gets A Movie Deal

Lauren Conrad Hopes LA Candy Gets A Movie Deal

Reality star turned designer Lauren Conrad hopes her bestselling book L.A. CANDY gets turned into a film.
After all, it has already hit the New York Times Best Seller list for Children’s Chapter Books! It's possible her dream might come true.
Conrad tells the New York Daily News,

"We’re hoping for a movie deal. I’m working on (adapting the book) right now, but I don’t want to commit to anything until I see all my options. We have had a lot of exciting news in that respect, though."

Fans will be happy to hear Lauren is already penning a sequel!

"I actually finished the first draft - I’m doing edits right now. It picks up where she first left off. I signed a three-book deal, so this is all part of the same story. The second book will be more dramatic than the first. It’s a relief, because I didn’t have to worry about character introductions."

Anyone read L.A. Candy? Looking forward to the sequel?

Honey, let me save you some real aggravation. You're clearly not on the right site. Best you recognize that now and move over somewhere else.

I haven't read the book, and have zero interest. But from what I've seen in the media coverage, isn't this book pretty much what happened to her on the Hills disguised as fiction? So there will be a movie version of what essentially was already aired on MTV. Who is going to waste their money on that?

I think the target audience for the book (and any movie that comes out of it) is Tweens. I can't see anyone over the age of 15 being remotely interested or willing to be seen in public reading the book.

Has anyone read this "story?" I mean, a girl who moves to LA for a reality show doesn't sound overly fictional to me???

Maybe they're trying to appeal to the crowd who feels too intellectual to watch the show, but will read a version of it?

Is she actually a writer? Or just faking it? I don't know. I've never watched The Hills. Anyway: No, I'm not interested in anything that has to do with her. She just does not interest me at all and I think the concept of The Hills is silly even though I haven't seen it. I'm not wasting my time on it.

She has to have a ghost writer. There is no way she is writing novels by herself, it requires intelligence. I've never seen The Hills, The City and anything else that MTV spews as reality. These celebutards have had their 15 minutes and need to go away into obscurity for forever.

Do you watch "Family Guy"? Apparently, Lauren is really smart!

(My sarcasm probably isn't coming across. I should pack it in and go to bed.)

If you never watched the show where do you get off implying that Lauren is not smart?

I don't get why they would do a movie from a TV show, which eople already have seen.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I believe it can be successful if it has a premise people find interesting. Everyone will freak out on me, but Twilight is not a well written book- the writing is very juvenile and cliched but yet provides a story line that grabs a lot of people- and then spawns tons of movie goers. Lauren doesn't have to be good writer to get fans- she just needs to create interest and a following- which giving her work on the Hills, she probably can do.

what's with the different color nailpolish? lauren, you're not 12 anymore...ughh that's right up there with dark, chipped nails. makes my skin crawl.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I bought it to take camping and have a "fluff" read for the weekend. I couldn't even get 1/2 way thru. It is an awful book. Poorly written. Sorry Lauren....it sucks.

To be honest, I havn't read any of 'her' books, and frankly find it hard to believe she is the sole writer, I bet she has people doing the work in 'her name'.... but would love to hear i'm wrong.
Also, whats up with the two toned nails... is she trying to start a trend.... looks crap.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I read it.. it wasnt that bad but you can tell she took a lot from her own experiences to write it... it didnt seem too fiction to me, but I liked it. I hope the next one is alright.

but a movie deal?? that's going too far. We've already seen the story.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I actually really liked the book, but only because I was really interested in seeing what went on "behind the scenes" of her show. It was cool to see what she experienced off camera.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Ive read the book and it was actually good, who knows, maybe the movie will be good too?

Anonymous Anonymous said:

i loved the book i cant wait for the next (:
u guys are stupid if u dnt like the women piss off.
why even click on this page?
losers..
u must have some interest in her after all

Anonymous Anonymous said:

First of all this book, is inspired by what she experienced not what actually happened in the hills

Lauren even said in an interview with Barnes and Noble that she didnt really use her personal experiences that often because then she would have to tell everyone elses story, and she said thats not her place so she just wrote about the off camera life and how there was a whole other story taking place, so at the end of the day she was having fun with it.

For those who say it was poorly written i bet you didnt even read the book because it is written just as normal as any other book, trust me i have read it more than once. She happens to be a very smart person and seems very sweet i wouldnt consider her as that wild girl type style like you all are assuming.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

i liked the book but i wouldnt watch the movie i mean its good but not great and it prob will b a movie just because shes lauren conrad and there are all these other great books out there that will never be movies because celebs keep writing books that stink and will be turned into movies because of who they are.

sonja sonja said:

this book was very good. i found it too be very well written as well, it was the characters speaking that makes you think its poorly written, but that is how really people talk. i am anticipating the sequel, & would gladly see the movie.
