Bryce Dallas Howard Is Twilight's New Victoria (UPDATE)

Summit Entertainment has announced that Bryce Dallas Howard will be Victoria in Eclipse replacing Rachelle Lefevre due to a scheduling conflict.
I'm going to say it... WHAT did Rachelle have going on that would trump TWILIGHT? I mean unless she just landed tje role of Hermione in the latest Harry Potter, I just don't see it.
Summit Entertainment announced today that Bryce Dallas Howard will take over the role of “Victoria” in the studio’s upcoming production of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. Actress, Rachelle Lefevre, who portrayed the character in TWILIGHT as well as the upcoming release of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, will not continue in the role due to scheduling conflicts with another commitment the actor has made. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE will start filming in Vancouver this coming August.

UPDATE: Rachelle Lefevre has released an official statement to E! Online. Seems that she was blindsighted by the news as well.
"I was stunned by Summit's decision to recast the role of Victoria for
"Eclipse." I was fully committed to the Twilight saga, and to the
portrayal of Victoria. I turned down several other film opportunities
and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that
would involve very short shooting schedules. My commitment to Barney's
Version is only ten days.Summit picked up my option for Eclipse.
Although the production schedule for Eclipse is over three months long,
Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not
accommodate me. Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I
fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap.I was happy with my
contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it.
Summit chose simply to recast the part.I am greatly saddened that I
will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the Twilight
audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I
truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever
grateful to the fan support and loyalty I've received since being cast
for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit's surprising decision to
move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of Eclipse only the very
best."

she is Ron Howard's (Opie) daughter. SHe's been in a few movies...nothing really noteworthy about her acting.

I'm not happy that they replaced Victoria. Bryce is as beautiful as an old can of dog chow, not really vampire material. Good news for summit, they wont have to spend a dime of their undersized budget on make-up.
That is the first thing I thought of when I read this story. I thought what could you possibly be doing that you cannot get out of for the last time we will see Victoria? Especially since a lot of people didn't know who she was prior to Twilight. I'm not saying there aren't more important things that this movie series (I didnt even really like the first one) but geez.

Who benefits in your comment? This girl has a weird acting process. She tries way too hard to act. She spoils the parts she gets and the movies she's in. not looking forward to her replacing the perfect actress for that part. Rachel was a sweet match. I love her skills of sultry sex ad drama she brings to the big screen. I have seen her in other things and I'm quite smitten like a straight boy (so not into woman, although I am one). She just has the it girl factor, way over this dried died actress. So what her father is brilliant and famous , this doesn't make her the hot ticket. Not celebrities kids have the talent to be big star themselves and this girl really make a movie a bit of a lemon. Need I name a few: Spiderman-her part was non existing and you didn't even know it was her , she looked like living plastic albino mannequin ; The lady in the water — she looked dead there too and was way to fuking perky. I couldn't get the movies them because she didn't set the mood right; The Village - she was too lifeless in looks and way too perky for that murky roll, the mood was destroyed because she could set the right pace for her roll. Please this movie will lose its edge before it gets off the ground no matter what hype it has already gotten. SHE NEED TO TAKE ACTING LESSON AGAIN OR HIGHT A BETTER ACTING COACH. I just not sold on anything she works on. She's not SEX OR SLUTRY ENOUGH FOR THIS ROLL. THS MATCH IS LIKE POSION. bad call.I'm to see Rachel go.

I was thinking the same thing..she almost looks alien with that coloring, or like someone who might spend their life sleeping in a coffin.
well, she is scary looking, so that makes her a natural choice for the part. Anyway, she could probably kill humans with those protruding shoulder bones, she doesn't even need to bare her fangs. yikes.
ooh well i guess the make-up artist will only have to spend 1/2 as much time on her on set. Eeek! Imagine rolling over in bed and seeing that in the middle of the night...

I can't believe Summit can't find someway to have Rachelle in the film. They are pushing these movies out way to fast and now we're seeing the disasterous effects. I bet Rachelle had signed up for the movie with Dustin Hoffman before Twilight became such a huge franchise and now that Summit is pushing to get the rest of the movies made and distributed she is being replaced instead of altering their filming scheduled to fit her in. It's not that I don't like Bryce Dallas Howard, I just think it's a bad move on Summit's part to replace a character, especially since this is the last movie we'll see Victoria in.

Usually, when something like this happens, there are reasons we never know about (i.e. drugs, money, doesn't get along, etc.) Who knows. I do know that Bryce is a really good actress,

I can't stand when actors start a series and then drop out! I wonder how many character chnages there will be until the series is over. They might as well find a new Edward and Bella while they are at it.

At first glance, I think she's not that pretty, but if she is styled right and has the right makeup (not harsh like in this photo), she really can look stunning... of course, couldn't we all?
MANY things may trump Twilight, if Rachelle is more interested in the quality of the movies she makes instead of the popularity. The Twilight franchise is hugely popular, but it is GARBAGE. Maybe Rachelle actually has some artistic integrity and will be working on a smaller but better film.

I had heard that after Twilight she (and a lot of the rest of the cast) were being offered movie roles (Girl that plays Jessica in Twilight is doing a movie with Clooney). A lot of actors and actresses don't want to be type-casted or remembered as one character, so maybe this was her decision. I don't think it will really impact Eclipse, now if they replaced Robert or Kristen, then it would have a huge impact on the movie series. I think Bryce will do a good job.

Rachelle would have been much better for the role. now that everyone is used to her being Victoria, changing the actress is really bad. Twilight fans will be furious.
If the fans actually manage a letter writing campaign to complain, I'm going to feel sorry for whatever intern has to sort through that.

I've never seen Twilight and do not know who Rachelle Lefevre is, but I do know Ron Howard's daughter Bryce Dallas Howard is a very good actress. 'The Village' and 'Lady In the Water' come to mind. She is very beautiful and brings a wide array of emotions to the screen. Believe you me she is a great actress in her own right and is in no way riding on Ron Howard's coatails.

I agree with Clarinet. I feel badly for Rachelle, but Bryce is most definitely the better actress, and has more name recognition. The first film was all "no-name" actors, and yes it did well, but in a series that's expected to gross a lot of money world wide, it's no shock a studio wants to pad the series with some more famous names in an effort to make it more on-par with Harry Potter. They got rid of Catherine Hardwick quickly enough, and I think for similar reasons.

I loved Bryce in Lady in the Water, she was beautiful. But Rachelle was gorgeous as Victoria! She was my favorite bad Vampire. :( I loved the ending when she comes down the stairs and takes down her hair.
I think it was a big mistake to get rid of Rachelle. Bryce Dallas Howard is a good actess, but she's not a villianas and I can't picture her as such. Both companies could have easily made adjustments to the schedule to allow Rachelle to appear as Victoria. They could have been done but Summitt screwed up already. I just hope it doesn't ruin the next film.

While I am personally looking forward to seeing New Moon and Eclipse, these are not important movies in the realm of cinema. So if this Rachelle person had an opportunity to be in a better film - something with substance - and the opportunity to work with bigger actors, good for her. She looked great as Victoria in Twilight, but the series will survive without her. Bryce has an amazing range and will be able to pull it off. I'm interested in seeing how she pulls it off. She definitely has the look.

I barely remember Victoria from the first film - the only scene that stands out is her at the end of the dance at the end of the film. In New Moon, she's talked about much more than ever seen, in Eclipse she doesn't show up until the end. Changing actors for this role is a non-issue. Looking at the photo I saw of her as Victoria yesterday, she doesn't match what I picture while reading. And the flamelike hair they describe in the books so many times? Not so flamelike. She's a blip. Everything will be okay.
