January Jones Is In Trouble For Being Too Thin

January Jones Is In Trouble For Being Too Thin

This is a complaint you don't hear about actresses facing every day! 'Mad Men' star January Jones says she's in hot water with the show's producers for being too thin.

"I got told a couple of days ago that I look too skinny, and I was in
trouble," January sheepishly told reporters at the July 28 party for
the AMC network. "I’m naturally pretty thin, so I’m trying," the
beautiful blonde actress said, showing reporters she was drinking an
Amstel Light beer at the party.

"I eat whatever is at craft services. I’m a big eater. I’m from South
Dakota, so meat, potatoes, carbs." The star notes that to maintain Mad Men’s
early '60s look, in which women definitely had more meat on their
bones, she and the other actresses are "encouraged NOT to work out. We
want soft; we don’t want any muscle definition."

"They tell us to gain weight, gain weight, gain weight, because they
want a soft, voluptuous woman which they were [back then] which is
beautiful, as it should be."

Struggling to gain weight. I know some women have this problem, and it can be a very serious issue, but I can't even begin to relate ;)

I bet plenty of actresses would be happy to be on this show!

I can't imagine being in a profession where my weight was even an issue, but that's part of acting and modelling, I suppose.

My goodness. I wish that I had this problem as well ;)

It would be difficult having to watch your weight for your job, but if that's how you got pay checks, I'm sure you would be much more dedicated.

These ano actresses who claim to be "big eaters" crack me up. None of them have had a real meal in years.

You never know. I have a cousin who can eat her weight at buffets, but remains a size two. She also doesn't work out anymore than a yoga class every other week or so.

And you know this...how?
I am a size two, and eat more than all of my male friends.
It's genetics.

I had that problem for years even after i had my son three days later people did not know what to say, i was flat as a board. I never gain any weight no matter who much food i put down but im almost in my 30's and things change i have to work a little more now ha.

I have the same problem. I can't gain weight. Even though I eat quite a bit. It gets really annoying being called anorexic when you can't help it. xD

Same here.. Whenever I feel sick I can't eat as much as I would like to and I'll lose like 4-5 pounds in one week. But it takes months to put it back on. And yes I am a big eater (vegetarian though) and I don't work out, except for a daily bikeride.

I dont even eat that much PLUS I exercise & I still need to lose weight...Before I hit 30 weight was never an issue, it was super easy to be thin...Somethings just arent fair...I think she looks great, but the show wants the women to be more volumptuous & she is far from that.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

She looks great and she should not gain any weight. Most women in the 60s were not voluptuous anyways, sizing was just different. Like when people say Marilyn Monroe was fat cuz she was a size 8, thats like a 2 in todays sizing. I would NEVER gain weight for a part, they should just hire someone with the body type they desire instead of constantly trying to change people. I am sure there are 1000's of voluptuous actresses who would love to get a break in the biz.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

A size 8 back then would not be a size 2 nowadays. Marilyn Monroe was about 5' 6" and weighed around 140 lbs, her body would look about like Beyonce's body.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

you'd think they'd cast voluptuous actresses then...

When I was younger I had that problem and still told to fat so I sort of became anorexic and got even smaller. Now I eat pretty much everything I want and have stayed the same weight for the last 5 years. I am happy someone has you need to gain weight as opposed to losing it.

Too thin? Um, what the CRAP. She looks completely, utterly NORMAL.

I hate hollywood. These actresses are always being called too thin, too fat, blah blah blah. Nobody is ever good enough. If you're not a size 2, you're fat. It you ARE a size 2, you're anorexic. WTF.

That said, I wish I had the problem of not being able to gain weight. I'm by no means fat, but I can diet & diet & diet & not lose that pesky 20 pounds. I'd give ANYTHING to not be able to gain weight :/

OK, first off, she looks great and doesn't really NEED to gain, but if it makes her feel comfortable in her own skin, I say go for it. As for all the comments on here of people wishing they had this problem, I have a question for you...Would you say the same to an obese person? What people fail to realize is that it's NOT a "good" problem to have. I'm 5'6" and my weight goes from 98 to 102 and then I drop again...It's not pretty in the least. I lost 20 lbs during a hard time last year and since then, I'm stuck at 100 lbs. I go out to eat with my husband and he wonders where I put it all. Other people watch me out of the corner of their eyes and then wait for me to go to the bathroom and stick my finger down my throat, I'm sure. People like us are NOT lucky...If I happen to get the flu, I'm practically done for! If I lose any more, I could end up in the hospital over the simplest stomach virus. I feel like I'm literally wasting away, and recently was lectured by my MOM about how "gross" I look...Yep, good times! The best advice I can give here to people, is this...If you wouldn't say the opposite to an overweight person, DON'T SAY IT TO US!! I'm hoping this gets out there and that suddenly people don't see us as the lucky ones. I'd MUCH rather have that extra 20 lbs on than to stress over a piece of cheesecake and think about how many extra minutes I'd have to work out to get rid of it!

Anonymous Anonymous said:

The reason that people say that to skinny people is because they are jealous and want to learn their secret. Usually when people say rude things to fat people it is because they think they are fat and disgusting. Seriously, even the people who say they would not want to look skinny can't help but know that it looks good.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I don't think she looks unhealthy. She looks thin, but no worse than any other celebrity. America has created it's own problem with this one. They want to see thin people on television, and gravitate towards thin celebrities, but then they want to complain about how celebrities are too thin. That's an unfair double-edged sword that has put female celebrities in a situation where they will be attacked no matter what they do. Look at Mary Kate Olsen- one week everyone complains that she's too thin, then too fat, then too thin again. Pick a side and stick with it.
