Summit Entertainment Responds To Rachelle Lefevre Responding To Getting Replaced By Bryce Dallas Howard

Oh boy! Summit Entertainment and Rachelle Lefevre are the new Tori and Candy Spelling. I expect this will go on for a while. Here is a very long response to Rachelle's claim that she is not to blame for the switch.
-----
We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre's recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the Studio. Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts.
- Ms. Lefevre's representatives were advised as early as April that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was expected to start shooting in early August.
- If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes "passionate," about being part of The Twilight Saga, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
- It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre's commitment to Barney's Version, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.
Yes, there is a lot more - click on the continue reading link below to read the rest.
- Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.
- Contrary to Ms. Lefevre's statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story.
The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre's commitment to the other project – which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment – makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
So what do you think???? Whose side are you on? Or do you care at all?

And the War between Summit and army of FANS has begun
The mental image of this makes me giggle. I don't think the fans are going to give half a cent for any of Summit's reasons.

Couldn't they work it out like grown up people instead of blaming each other.

who cares about Twilight anyway????? the books were good.but the movie was AWFUL!!!!
The books weren't that good, and I hear the movie is even worse.
Well, last night #Bring Back Rachelle Lefevre was the number one trend topic on twitter. Rachelle's own name was a top 10 trend on Twitter and then SUDDENLY this morning i its been removed from Twitter. I heard the Suits were called in and had a chat with Twitter ...since the dispute with Rachelle is in Legal Limbo... 10 days is peanuts. Most of those 10 days are pre-product and not filming. So, Summit can work around Rachelle. Rachelle totally filming time in Eclipse would be at the end(read the book and the fight scene) and maybe 10-15 mins max. Its just sad that a hard working actressed gets wanked on by the BIG SUMMIT and put some Dadddy's Girl Actress in the role. There is now a rumour that Ron Howard might direct a Twilight Saga movie ...ugh!!! I hope not....we need Peter Jackson!!!! The Fan Empire will strike back, this is not over, especially now that we know what summit is really like. ps: I love this Gossip site...you guys do a great job, Ciao
You seriously need to get laid!

Nah, she's right. It was rude and pointless. Why comment at all - just to pass judgement? Good grief is right.

"Rachelle totally filming time in Eclipse would be at the end(read the book and the fight scene) and maybe 10-15 mins max."
Just as an FYI, movies are filmed completely out of sequence, very often with scenes from the end being filmed first. Regardless of the fact that she may only get 10-15 minutes of screen time, that may take an incredible amount of time to film. We have no idea what the shooting schedule will be, and how important that 10 day overlap may be. I'm not particularly on one side or the other here, but she did violate the terms of her contract. I'm just saying

It's amazing to me that the fans immediately take her side in this. Of course you feel bad for her, she's an actress, they play on emotions for a living. The only people who really know what happened are a few people at Summit and Rachelle Lefevre and her management team. It's a shame that it's turned into this petty nonsense.

I don't think that her being replaced will "make or break" Eclipse, I'm sure they get lots of movie offers, they can't do everything, she probably thought that she could work Eclipse in with another movie, it backfired on her. It's her own fault. I'm on Summit's side on this one, sounds like Rachelle was being greedy with the movie roles.

Either way, even if it had only been a 10 day overlap,as much as I love her as Victoria, I dont think its okay. All the others will be there on time.

I think Summit's right in all of this. You shouldn't schedule two things at once and then get angry when they won't accomodate you, even if it is for 10 days.

I admit that I am pretty furious about the whole thing. I do believe Rachelle over Summit. They are just trying to unruffle the feathers of the fans but all they are doing is ticking them off more. I'm going to believe an actress over the suits at a studio any day of the week. Especially one who has been SO thrilled about her role and just was so grateful all the time about being a part of the series. Summit wanted BDH in, so they gave Rachelle the boot. It sucks.
I agree. The big corporations will say and do anything to get what they want. Does anyone else remember that publishing company that was trying to legally pressure the owner of Katie.com to sign away her rights to the domain? Some chick wrote a book by the same name and the place publishing her book thought she should have the domain to go along with it.

Summit ftw. The world can't revolve around one actress.
All she had to do was drop this other project. It's an indie, she'd make a lot more money doing the sequel instead. She had a choice to drop out of this other thing, and she chose not to do it. If you all recall there was a movie that Robert Pattinson had to drop out of because it conflicted with his Twilight schedule. She was under contract with the Summit people and she broke it, they are within their legal rights to replace her. Really, we've only seen her in the first one and she's hardly in the second one. I'm sure we'll barely notice she's gone. I thnk Bryce is incrdibly talented and surprised they got her to do one the Twilight movies. Rachelle would have been great, but Bryce isn't going to make the movies worse. Likely, she'll class up the project a little bit. I doubt Ron Howard is going to direct the last movie, it's not really his thing.

oh yea: Parts per Billion was the moviel. If Pattinson can, I dont see why Rachelle cant
I'm a reporter with the Globe and Mail newspaper in Toronto looking to chat with any Rachelle supporters from Canada about this. Please drop me a line at dbascaramurty AT globeandmail DOT com.

AFTER READING THIS STATEMENT FROM SUMMIT I CAN SAY THAT THE ONLY ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR RAHELLE'S RAPLACEMENT IS RACHELLE. SHE TOOK THE OHTER ROLE THINKING THAT SUMMIT WOULD WORK WITH HER BUT IT TOTALY BACKFIRED. SHE COULD HAVE EASILY DROPPED OUT OF THE OTHER FILM BUT SHE DIDNT. I REALLY HOPE BRYCE DOES A GOOD JOB. SHE JUST NEEDS TO PUT ON SOME WEIGHT... SHES TOO SKINNY!!!
I think your caps lock key is stuck.
This is just Summit's statement. For all we know, they might have told her it was OK and they'd work around her and then replaced her anyways.

I think Rachelle played the role of Victoria very well. I think it is immature that she and Summit are trading barbs through the media. Act like professionals!!

I liked this girl as Victoria... but I don't blame summit.
Don't poo where your bread is buttered.... Twilight is the series that boosted her career... make it a priority. Lots of talent out there looking for work! I'd hate to think that since she was the "face" of Victoria that she assumed that summit would be forced to work around her.... regardless of how we assume those "10 days" are spent....post production, etc, whatever...
What's fishy is that, according to Summit, they were notified on July 20th of the other movie, and within 9 days they fired Rochelle and had already hired her replacement. They also didn't announce anything until Comic Con was over. The timing seems suspicious and the fact they spoke to Dakota Fanning for over a month before they hired her makes me think they had planned of letting Rochelle go and they were just looking for an excuse.
Also the movie has accommodated at least 2 other cast member with their filming schedule, it seems unfair they couldn't do the same for her.
Summit has a history of being disrespectful to their cast and crew (Taylor, the directory), I hope they get it........in the jugular.
These are some good points. I wonder if they secretly always wanted Bryce Dallas Howard, but could only get her to sign on once the series took off like it did?
I don't care what happened. Summit should have been a little more supportive because this girl is and always will be Victoria as far as I'm concerned and I'm sure most, if not all, the fans feel the same way. They're both being petty about the situation and Summit is only concerned about money and Bryce is the daughter of a famous director. It makes me wonder if they're really trying to get Ron Howard to direct the last two movies?

Victoria is a minor character at best. The simple knowledge of her existence and not really her actual presence on page or screen is her contribution to the story UNTIL the very end of Eclipse. In which case, the better actress to play this character only helps the film. She was on screen, what, less than 5 minutes in Twilight? And is she truly set to be on screen at all in New Moon? This is SO not a big deal. She should have CLEARED her schedule if this franchise/saga was so important to her. Summit doesn't owe her any favors. She should be bending over backwards to them for being a part of the series.

The fact that Billy Burke, Gil Birmingham, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone and Taylor Lautner all have movies being filmed at the same time or near the same time as Eclipse. Jackson also tours/does shows with his band (he was in Greenland part of the rehearsal and then went to Anaheim suddenly to catch part of the rehearsal for New Moon!). Shouldn't mean she has to clear her schedule too. If they all can do stuff stuff at the same time. Why should she??!!!!?
For Twilight when Cam Gidandet was filming a movie and they fixed the schedule for him also.

It is sad that this has to be played out in the media and people feel the need to take sides and attack the new addition. Give her a chance and enjoy that your movie is being made at all. Lots of good books never make it this far. Take a deep breath and remember this is just the land of make believe and you will survive the day regardless of who plays what role.
Rachelle stated "Summit picked up my option for ‘Eclipse.’ Although the production schedule for ‘Eclipse’ is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those 10 days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for ‘Eclipse,’ never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10-day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.” - If she was fully prepared to honor it then she should have backed out of the indie role that caused the conflict. This is another case of someone believing they are too valuable to be replaced and pushing the limits. Well, it was a nice try but it backfired on her. The only ones they really have to try to work with are the main characters, and even Taylor had to fight like mad to get his role of Jacob back for New Moon.
It is sad that these choices have to be made but this is ultimately a business and money is boss in that world. They cannot halt or delay production for just one person when everyone else managed to make it work. If you are that upset by the choice then you should choose to not see the movie but don't bash the new actor because she did what she is supposed to do and took an acting job.
Whatever the truth is, (i don`t take a side) it`s really no big deal!!! I understand if it involved Bella or Eward`s characters, but Victoria played such a small part. She barely had lines in the movie. get on with it

If Summit is telling the truth, then I'm on their side.
I don't understand what all the fuss is about. She has a very limited part in this franchise. Any red head could have played her in the first movie and Bryce Dallas Howard can only be an improvement. Nothing against Rachelle Lefevre, I've liked her in many things before Twilight, but don't overestimate her worth here. She has a small, slightly forgettable part in the first movie, and she's HARDLY in the second. I think the fans of the franchise are so diehard that regardless of how much this bothers you, and honestly and I mean this with no malice whatsoever, get a life, you're still going to go and see Eclipse and the movies that come after. I wouldn't stress too much. Rachelle Lefevre isn't going to be weeping on the set of her Hoffman movie, so why should you?

Fans have read both sides of it arguements. Most fans are very angry about it and have petitions going around (i know of at least 6 of them), calls, emails, and letters have all been written to Summit. However! There are some fans that think it was wrong Rachelle's part. Yes the group is small but it is out there.
I personally believe Summit is in the wrong on it all. Other cast members have said they are shocked and confused. I know Rachelle also has spoken strongely about the series since the start and has always been on of the few press people for Summit for Twilight. (Rob and Kristen are horrible at it and everyone knows it. Thats why most of the interviews that were for a long time were Rachelle, Taylor, and Edi. Or Ashley, Kellen, and Rachelle) While I truthfully believe Summit is being out of line, nasty, and child like with their statement (I work in and around the business so I know a bit how it works) and I understand what Rachelle did with signing contract for something else, I think that either filming should be fixed some how around her or pushed. I would honestly rather wait for Eclipse with her in it then see Bryce Dallas Howard in it. I feel a bit sorry for Bryce really. She stepped into a role that the fans for once hadn't complained who was playing her. It's pretty hard to please the fans in a whole and she did. Not only will Summit loose their press for the movies they will be loosing a lot of fans.
