Katherine Heigl Caused Grey's 17 Hour First Day
Remember when Katherine Heigl did her press rounds for 'The Ugly Truth' and complained about how long her first day back at 'Grey's Anatomy' was?
"Our first day back was Wednesday and it was -- I'm going to keep saying this because I hope it embarrasses them -- a 17-hour day which I think is cruel and mean."
Well, it turns out the day was that long... BECAUSE OF KATHERINE. Someone tipped off Ken Levine, a TV writer, that the Grey's Anatomy actress was entirely at fault.
"Poor Katherine Heigl. What she neglected to add was this: This 'cruel' shooting schedule was only to accommodate HER and her needs. The producers graciously shuffled things around so she could go off and do promotion for her new film. Also, with union rules, the producers had to pay a ton of overtime and penalties to make this happen. The thanks they get is Katherine Heigl going on national television hoping to embarrass them," Levine wrote on his blog.
No rep confirmation of course. Do you think Katherine would just push blame like that even though she knew it was all her fault?

I know! I really sympathise with her - a multi million dollar salary for all that "hard" work. I can't imagine how tough her life is. Give me a break. A 17 hour work day is the difference for some families of having a roof over their head and their children fed. I'm a midwife and sometimes work 30-40 hour "days" - and i sure as hell wouldnt be complaining if i had the millions to show for it.

To me, she always comes across so negative and diva-like. I have never seen Grey's Anatomy, but I can't imagine that she is such an asset to the show that producers or anyone would put up with her attitude!
I think she really wants off the contract - and is trying to get fired. But the producers (as with everyone else) are fed up with her and are pissing her off by not firing her.

don't bother...if you've seen 27 dresses, it's essentially the same movie. someone paid for me, that's how i was able to see it. she's not a bad actress, but her attitude is appalling, especially since she gets paid so much! show some gratitude for the show that made you a star

I agree, she needs an attitude adjustment. I don't really find her to be anything special as an actress, so maybe her constant complaining and trying to get killed off of tv shows will make her less appealing to work with.
I'm starting to think she goes into interviews with a purposeful plan to be mean or controversial because it sets her apart from the dime a dozen chick flick actresses out there. Without all the reports of her being such a wench, what else does she have to keep the press following her and not another skinny blonde?

i get where you are coming from, but after she "broke out" into movies with "knocked up", she got true acclaim from hard-to-please sources. i really believe she could be headed toward julia roberts' status if she hadn't scared everyone away from wanting to be associated with her holier-than-thou persona.
latest in the news is that apatow and rogan are unforgiving about her perception as related to the media for how women were portrayed in knocked up and how she didn't find it funny. she is burning bridges faster than she can build them: who wants to bet she'll be back on tv in 2 years, starring in her own "rom-com", that crashes and burns in no time?
What an ungrateful wretch. People need to stop watching shows with her in them and stop seeing her movies. Hollywood will (eventually) get the hint and she won't be able to get work. She doesn't deserve to be making the kind of money she is. She needs to be blacklisted and end up working as a cashier somewhere and taking her lonely, leathery self home to an empty trailer every night. She got there on her looks, but looks only last so long ( especially with the way she smokes) and her winning personality certainly won't get her any work. there is a discernable difference b/w someone who likes to have dogs in their lives and someone who lives a vegan lifestyle. if you are saying that you have two choices: to love having pets, or to be a vegan, then you can anticipate that many loveable animals would go unwanted and unloved. this is not a black and white topic - this makes me CRAZY (-ier).
i meant: to be an animal loving vegan or an animal hater...then you are left with a lot of the most LOVING pet parents out of the mix, and what would your solution be then?

Firstly, anyone who watched her on Letterman would have seen there was no malice in anything she said, she was clearly tongue in cheek and joking about it. Noone tipped off Levine, that was just his own thoughts and interpretation. He has nothing to do with the show, nothing to do with the production and was not involved in any way whatsoever. His comments are completely misinformed. The simple fact is Heigl has been demonized for being an outspoken woman in Hollywood. What is even more depressing is that women posting here seem to find the disgraceful way she is being treated as acceptable. She must be a diva and a bitch. Has she ever thought of real doctors in real life doing unbelievably long shifts, like 36 hours, if they're on call? Are they complaining that people are cruel and mean? They knew what they signed up for went they went to college, but, unlike Heigl, they don't get a million a month or even per year, and she gets that per epidose, hypocritical b*tch that she is. If she doesn't like her working conditions that were re-arranged to accommodate her, she should start thinking about those who don't have any kind of working conditions because they lost their jobs.
I am so over Heigl. I used to like her during her Roswell days (guilty!) but now that she has had a few well known movies and a tv series, it seems its all gotten to her head. I don't buy into all of the crap that's printed about her. And honestly, I could care less what she's like in "real life". I enjoy her movies (don't watch Grey's) quite a lot, so that's all that matters, to me. ;)

As she seems to be going down the rom-com heroine route for movie fame, her attitude will do her no favours. That type of movie really depends on the personality and chemistry between the lead actors. I would not watch a movie with her in it, as she comes across as such an ungrateful bitch, I'd rather see Julia Roberts, or Sandra Bullock who are much more likable. There are thousands of actors who could be doing what she is doing but haven't got the break, she is not all that as she clearly believes herself to be. One of her movies will eventually crash and burn, it might pull her back down to earth a bit, although by then she may not have a good enough reputation to get anything else.
Well, Julia isn't exactly sacrosanct territory now that more details about her 'winning' personality surface. The Tom Hanks, tribute, the expletive-laden outbursts in public, the 'A Low Vera' incident. Vulgar, vulgar stuff.
It seems to me that a lot of these newer starlets fancy themselves to be some sort of Second Coming of Katharine Hepburn. By that turn, it MUST mean that said starlet must employ her 'razor' wit and 'impeccable timing' to cut off people at the knees--mostly men, it seems. But they aren't withering, just dithering. It's bad enough when people take up that haughty mantle, but when you don't have the intellect or bearing to pull it off convincing, you're just 'removing all doubt', as it were.
That sort of unearned condescending attitude and hysteria should be out of your system by graduation, lest you catch 'wandering uterus'.
If you can't gauge the tenor or nature of the remarks when they are made in context, in person and with consent, when can you do so? I seem to get the feeling that people use the 'chauvinism' card to escape culpability, and I just don't cotton that idea at all. I'm a female, and a minority. I hate seeing people start to play victim as if it's some sort of modus operandi autopilot: it casts a shadow of doubt over claims that have veracity, and gives the malcontents fodder.
How about, if everything you say is 'misconstrued' by so many legions, it likely has something to do with you? Show some agency! Do you hold this de-polarizing power in the manner in which you would have us believe, or are you the poor, put-upon Mary Sue who just can't win? Everyone experiences these feelings at various turns, but it's another thing completely to calculatedly try to dance across that duplicitous edge in perpetuity.
But these days, people hide under their p.c. petticoats, deflecting the inherent logic in letting people judge the book by its contents. I mean, people aren't even allowed to act professionally, and there is no greater show of egregious temerity than expecting to be spoken to with respect. Everything's not a war, this isn't Sparta, show some class. If you're looking for absolution for your own willful justification of your nefarious behaviours, stop it. Some poor octogenarian with glaucoma and detached retinas would be able to spot that hoary old transparency from miles away--even if his glasses are at Lens Crafters.
Finally, if everything you say as an actor is 'misconstrued', you might want to look into a new career.

I only ever saw her in one movie, and she was just OK. I love her look and would kill for her body and her wardrobe, but from what I read about her, she might be taking this whole famous diva thing a bit too far. I mean, the whole world is in recession, be grateful that you have a job that pays you THAT much for a 17 hour day.
