Katie Holmes Lands Role In Sex And The City?
No, I'm not talking about the extras casting that went on last week. I'm talking major role here!
Today's Internet rumor is that Katie Holmes is set to star in the next ‘Sex and the City’ movie.
The ‘Batman Begins’ actress has reportedly been approached to take on the role of a feisty New York businesswoman who infuriates Kim Cattrall’s man-eating character Samantha Jones in the forthcoming sequel.
“The character they want her to play is a really ballsy, high-powered company executive who tangles with Samantha.”
Katie has taken on less major film roles since giving birth to daughter Suri, now two, to focus on raising her child with husband Tom Cruise.
If she accepts the part, the 30-year-old actress will start shooting with the movie’s other stars - Kim, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon - in the autumn in readiness for a May 2010 release.
Katie is currently on location in Australia shooting ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’.

I disagree, I think Samantha Jones could eat Katie Holmes for breakfast.
No matter how hard she tries, Katie Holmes will always be Joey Potter to me. Even in Batman Begins, all I saw was Joey Potter playing dress up.
Oh well, if she lands the roll, I can't wait to see Samantha clean the floor with her.

yeah...no. I just don't get what people see in her. I don't think that she is a very good actress at all. But I bet that she thinks that she would be great as a high powered business woman......she and tom have pretty high opinions of themselves.
What people see in her is that she's Tom Cruise's wife (you know, she managed to hook him by getting knocked-up). That has to be the only reason she even gets parts because it's certainly not because she's talented in the least.
Her husband Tom got Katie pregnant after they were married from what I recall. She also had an acting resume before Tom. Nicole Kidman on the other hand after her divorce from Tom; her career has gone down the toilet. Every movie since Tom divorced her has been a box office bomb.

The truth is the exact opposit actually. Where were you in Mars? Suri was 6 months old when she and Tom got married. Katie was a nobody to be Nice " b " list actress with not much acting talent. It looks like his name helping her to get roles she wouldn't get other wise. Many things she did she wouldn't do if she wasn't married to him and whatever infulence he may have left with all his scientology connection.
Nichole Kidman on the other hand while she was married with him her carrier was overshadowed by tom Has been status at that time. As soon as she divorced Tom her carrier took off. She got two oscar nomination one win and a lot of success.

ME TOO! I cant at all see her playing this part, especially against kim (samantha) what is it with sex in the city? Seems like samantha is screwed over in this movie and the last. I was pretty annoyed in the sex in the city movie how everyone pretty much got a happy ending except samantha, they made her character look pathetic untill the end whereas she was left single, while all the other girls are happy in their relationships.

Hmmm, how about Nicollette Sheridan? Or to go a different way, Iman? That would be equal footing and approximate age with a obviously capable woman who could be a maneater. If they are to go younger Rosario Dawson would be interesting. And same thing, don't think she has been given that chance in a role. Lucy Lu? Linda Fiorentino? Katie is just a slice of wonderbread to me, stepford without that edge. She does/wears/smiles when told. Not really the type for SATC for me anyway. I hope that this is a trial balloon, and casting is watching fan reaction. Katie's demo is not SATC demo.

thanks, she can act, is a power business woman, and would make them look younger, lol. But she is stunning, and that will speak to the followers of SATC, and the woman can wear anything and be a great muse for Patricia Feilds.

Tom has ruined her....professionally & personally. Every time I see her I can't help but think how unhappy she looks; deflated & depressed deep down. And I can't watch a movie she is in because all I can think about is that she got this job because Tom made someone hire her. It was so gross that he was on the set of her movie every single day (I forget the name-it was about a year or so ago). Get a life buddy and let Katie keep hers.

Its a shame this was unfounded. I love for Katie to tackle the role cuz I know she will be great in it and I know she is good friends with SJP.
I prefer Katie doing an action movie or a romcom with Dempsey,Jackman or Reynolds maybe? Katie should have finished The Dark Knight since she ruled that role and had chemistry with Bale even with Eckhart on Thank you for Smoking. Cannot wait for her new thriller to come out.

I think Katie could pull this off! I can see her in this kind of part. She is a talented actress she is just always so underrated because the role of Joey Potter was on such an iconic show that she is now always seen that way which makes it hard to really get any major roles. But I can see her in this and I think it would be great for not only her career but the SATC franchise itself.
