Ashley Olsen Talks About Fashion And Cutting It Into Pieces

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen don’t feel bad when they rip their designer clothing to shreds…literally.
The twin siblings – who are the creative directors of their fashion lines
The Row and Elizabeth and James – like to stylize their outfits to make them
unique but sometimes get too carried away.
Ashley said:

“The amount of beautiful things we’ve ruined – not having the
patience for a tailor and cutting everything ourselves. My sister once took
an Alaïa dress of mine and just cut the whole thing, and then she was like,
‘I cut it too short.’

“Mary-Kate and I don’t think about fashion as these clean, beautiful
objects. We just kind of wear it and live in it.”

Ashley also revealed her mother is one of her fashion inspirations.
Talking about her style, which is often criticized, the blonde beauty told
Marie Claire magazine:

“I get it; we were fortunate enough to have really
nice clothes, and we put them together in this raggedy way. My mom wears
glasses this big from the ’70s, and you wonder where we got it from? The
dark eyeliner, the scarf around the head – it’s just so interesting and
natural.”

I guess when you have as much money as they do, owning and ruining an expensive dress isn’t the end of the world. The have enough money to buy a million more!

But hearing Ashley talk about how reckless they are with their designer duds makes me  cringe a bit. Then again, I will never understand what it’s like to be in their shoes.

When they were 16 and 17, I remember all these count down clocks for them to turn 18. At the time, I thought they were cute, but even now they just look like aliens to me. Not as attractive as everyone seems to think they are. Everytime they speak I expect them to say, “Take me to your leader!”

I think they are adorable, and taste is subjective. Just because it isn’t your style doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

I’m sure all those expensive clothes were given to them for free!!

I think they’re both a bunch of privileged snobs. They need to do something about their damn eyebrows, too. They look like dudes with those caterpillars.
