Producers Undecided About Future Of Kiefer Sutherland's 24

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I love 24! This can't be happening. Will next season be my favorite show's last?  TV executive Kevin Reilly told the New York Post,

"It’s our last contractual season of 24. There are a lot of moving parts, so we’re not sure what will happen after that.

"It’s going to come down to a business decision. It’s not an inexpensive show on the network books and we also want to finish strong. This is not a show we want to prop up… We haven’t made any decision whether it’s back or not."

I would much rather hear, "YES! Of course we are returning! 24 is one of Fox's best shows. How could we not do another season?" Sigh.

Doooo. Doooo. Doooo. Dooooo.

In related news, did you know that Kiefer Sutherland makes $550,000 an episode? Wow!

Are you still watching 24?

I agree. I would also rather hear the same, "YES! Of course we are returning! 24 is one of Fox's best shows. How could we not do another season?". 24 is a show that I dearly love to watch. The drama, the acting and plots keep you glued to the show episode per episode. I remember when I first started watching 24.. it was the show's second season. I was in 7th grade. I remember seeing the very first tv promotions for 24 before season 1 came on the air.

It's super crazy show but I enjoy watching it. The twists and turns.

And, yeah, wow... making $550, 000 an episode? Kiefer is sure making a nice chunk of cheese there.

Yes!!! I am a loyal 24 watcher PLUS I buy every season when it comes out on dvd. I just have to own it....because.....because!! I love the show!! I love Kiefer! I am so shocked and dismayed at this news because I thought Kiefer had signed a 3 yr contract with them during the holidays last season???

Oh nooooo Vera!! If this AND Lost go off I will be in total mourning. I am already in denial about it being Lost's final season :(....

All I can say is that my Husband would be devastated if 24 does not return for another season. He would rather watch 24 than do ANYTHING else!

Are you kidding me!!!! $550,000 PER EPISODE!!!!
This world is wack. They are just entertainers folks, they don't really do anything worthwhile for the community or the world. DAMN makes me sick.

I love '24' but I think once they reach the end of the contractual season they should end it. '24' is one of FOX's best shows and has been since Season 1. However, I think the show has gone on long enough and as a fan I would rather it go out on top then become a low-rated disappointing show.

I do agree that I wouldn't want to see 24 go out with a whimper, but that doesn't mean that Season 8 has to be the last. I have great faith that the writers could come up with several more seasons of fascinating scripts to satisfy not only those fans that have been with the show for many seasons, but also to pull in new viewership. When the audience has tired of Jack, then it will be time to go, but at this point, especially when fans endured a year and a half hiatus, there is still plenty of interest in, and therefore revenue from, 24 to be had. TPTB would be mistaken to deprive loyal NETWORK television viewers from the high quality that has always been the hallmark of 24. As premium cable outlets pull more and more of the audience away from the networks, 24 stands as testament to the fact that inventive, quality television drama can be produced and sustained within the constraints of the networks. PLEASE let 24 continue with Kiefer Sutherland as Jack. Mr. Sutherland's ability, creativity and professionalism are what keep the show at its high level, and keep the audience coming back!
