Ciara Talks About The Cayenne Pepper Diet
This is such perfect timing! I am obsessed with these cleanses and special diets that you always hear about. Yesterday, I ran into my friend Carolyn who owns The Daily Obsession, and she is doing the 21-day cleanse that Gwyneth Paltrow made famous. You had to SEE what she was drinking. It was clumpy and yellow and... terrible looking! I told her she was my test subject and in three weeks to report back. If it works - it works right?
Well, Ciara tried to lose weight on a cayenne pepper diet and failed.
The 'Love Sex Magic' singer attempted to follow in the footsteps of Beyonce
Knowles by cutting out fatty foods and consuming only liquids.
However, the drastic regime proved too much to maintain and Ciara was soon
missing her favorite meals.
"I attempted to do this cayenne pepper thing one time. I could not
get past the idea of drinking what that stuff looked like. I attempted to,
but I was like, 'I just cannot do it,' because I love food too much. It
would be so hard to take away physically eating food."Drinking a liquid would not work for me."
Beyonce has previously admitted she shed a staggering 20lbs for her role in
Oscar-winning movie 'Dreamgirls' by replacing meals with a drink containing
maple syrup, lemon juice, cayenne pepper and water.
"I lived on water, cayenne pepper and maple syrup
for 14 days. It was tough - everyone was eating and I was dying."
The diet claims to purify the body and aids dramatic weight loss.
Since ditching the tough liquid regime, Ciara chooses to stay slim by eating
plenty of vegetables and protein-packed meals.
The 23-year-old star explained to OK! magazine:
"I change my
eating schedule by getting rid of bad carbohydrates and replacing them with
complex carbohydrates, like brown rice and wheat toast, wheat pasta noodles."I make sure it's more protein-driven. Like grilled chicken, steak and fish.
I also like to do greens to get fiber - broccoli, string beans, salad and
lettuce - and to help cleanse your body.I do five or six meals when I'm
eating healthy. And I drink tons of water."
Now that sounds like something I might be able to handle.

AH why would you do that? It sounds so nasty! There must be another way.

i actually did this diet. i died for the first 5 days i was starving, then something happened and i felt like i can manage. eventually i did it for 12 days and i lost 20 lbs wow! i went from 183 to 163. i was very hungry afterwards, but i must admit i felt lighter and rejuvenated.
that's crazy, it hurts your body in so many different ways. and when you lose weight like that, when u start eating regularly again, you gain double the weight.
That is the way to do it, Ciara is correct. Fishsticks is not someone that anyone should be taking advice from. What works for some, doesn't work for others.-----------

Well actually I read somewhere that its healthy to cleanse the body of toxins. it shouldnt be admired just for weight loss bc of course you will gain it back, but the real point to this diet is simply to clean out the body. thats why more then ever food products are advertising foods with fiber to aid peoples digestive system, to help them clean out their body. its not that unhealthy as you think.
Cleaning out your body...that's what your digestive system is for.
exactly! this is a cleanse, not a diet. My husband and I do this for a week in January every year... we actually look forward to it because we feel so fantastic afterward. Of course weight loss is temporary... you gain at least 3-5 lbs by just having food in your stomach and digestive tract again! We just always feel like unhealthy slugs after Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years and this definitely puts a spring back in our step and makes our skin sooo clear... don't knock it until you try it! I just don't recommend this for losing weight, crash/fad diets are crazy.
Okay am I the only one who thinks all these extreme diets are extremely ridiculous?????

I read it's not healthy. Your body cleanses itself- that's what your kidneys are for! Drinking lots of water is fantastic for your body and eating regular healthy meals is good. The only way to lose weight is eat less and do more.

The problem with a liquid diet is, the minute you sit down and eat anything more than a lettuce leaf and a grape you gain weight, everything you lost plus a few more for good measure. And who wants to drink some lumpy nasty tasting concoction that Gwyneth "Fishsticks" Paltrow promotes. I'll pass on anything she has to sell.

LOVE the boots she's wearing
Here's an extreme diet idea - eat less exercise more - it'll be all the rage in 2010!
Diets are unnecessary and most are unhealthy. Is eating right and exercising that difficult?

Ha I tried it earlier this week and lasted 36 hours. I had to eat before I lost my mind.

I did this and by day 6 I could not STAND the taste of the drink. I actually didn't lose as much weight as I hoped cuz I started off a bit heavier than usual, but over all I think I've lost 12 pounds. Not only did I manage to lose weight while I was on it, I continued to lose weight after. But listen, I DO NOT ADVOCATE THIS because honestly, I think its a crock of sh*t. I didn't feel cleansed, I didn't feel detoxified, I was actually ANGRY, haa haa! But I managed to do 9 out of the 10 days. What it DID teach me was that I didn't need as much food as I thought I did. It was more a mental block. I actually was NOT hungry a lot (I drank the crap every hour). So what I got out of it was a) my stomach shrunk and b) I don't need as much food as I used to think, so that's how I've managed to keep the weight off and continue losing: I don't eat as much as I used to and of course, I work out regularly. So basically, this was a mental exercise more than anything.

Being obese isn't something anybody should embrace. Dieting is necessary for the people that need to lose weight. If you have self-discipline(which most don't) you can lose weight w/o taking extreme measures. But, most people won't stay on their diets long enough to see any results. A lot of people gain weight during pregnancy and it is hard for so many to lose. Not everybody has money for lipo. Our kidneys do not elimate all the cumulative waste that we ingest from the crap we eat. Most people don't even know the preservatives and chemicals that are found in food. I eat plenty of vegetables, fruits and drink plenty of water. This is the only thing that keeps me slim. Once school start back, I will get exercise by walking around that big a$$ campus.

i think its better and healthier if u eat right and exercise.
i dont like her boots.
That's bs, our organs get clean up by themselves. I'll rather have a healthy lifestyle than doing random diets. I think she needs long hair.

You should never go on a diet like that without consulting your doctor first, 10 days without food can be really dangerous under certain circumstances! "Detoxing" your body is not something you can do on your own with a recipe from the internet....
There´s a very good diet programme on TV here in Austria:
The participants are very thoroughly examined by doctors, get their blood tested etc. It turns out that most of them overeat because they are actually suffering malnutrition (!!!)- which they can hardly believe at first!
Even though they eat so much (bad stuff), their bodies actually crave certain nutrients (minerals, vitamins, fibers..) that are needed for the organism to "function" - and this causes hunger attacks, a craving for sweets etc. The body is constantly "screaming for more" - and always getting the wrong stuff.
Then the participants start eating a well balanced diet (this does also include carboydrates and fat, because our organs need them to work). They soon realise that they dont have to go hungry to loose weight, just eat the right stuff, and sometimes even a lot of that! Once their bodies get what they need, the craving for food stops, digestion and fat burn improve, they feel less tired and more alert and willing to get out. Of course they also have to get more exercise if they want to improve the body shape.
The whole thing seems very convincing and you even get an explanation why we always feel we "need" chocolate or salty snacks etc., the body really needs something - it´s just not what we think! It´s encouraging to think you don´t have to eat less and go hungry to lose weight - just eat enough of the right stuff and the urge to overeat will go away!
Wow thanks!! I will follow this advice!
The diet isn't for everyone, that's for sure. In fact, most people don't last 1 day! The reason is because you must 'ease in' to the diet and prepare both physically and mentally. In fact, the Cayenne Pepper Diet isn't a diet at all ... it's a fast! This diet has worked for some, but you have to choose the one that's going to work best for YOU. Good luck to everyone!
