Melissa Joan Hart had a celebratory moment with her weight loss and People magazine cover only to have to deal with something far more serious: her mother’s brain tumor. Her mother had to undergo an eight-hour surgery in June because of it.
"I was beyond worried but had faith," Melissa tells In Touch. "I
had to be patient. It was tough. Having all six of my siblings there
made it easier. We tried to distract ourselves with games in the
waiting room. I even stupidly challenged my brother to a push-up
competition!"
Thank goodness the surgery was successful! Yet Melissa, her husband, and children have relocated from LA to Conneticut in order to be closer to Melissa’s mother.

"We moved 3,000 miles away, we left behind our house and our friends – it’s very hard," says Melissa. "But it’s for my mom!"
One thing that’s suffering (and I’m sure some of you can relate to this) is the eating and exercise routine Melissa developed to lose 50 pounds.
"It’s hard because I’m stressed out with the move and everything and
eating a lot of traveling food – Starbucks breakfasts, that kind of
thing," Melissa admits. "I have to find a new program here and fit it
in my schedule, and just watch what I eat until I can get to the gym.
It’s difficult, but I did it before and I can do it again!"
It sounds like a really stressful situation. I hope Melissa’s mother continues to improve and Melissa can find the time to take care of herself while she’s taking care of everyone else.

Best of luck to her mom.
Glad her mom is OK, her kid is so freaking adorable! I want to put him in my pocket and take him out to play with. Look at those cheeks! I would pinch the heck out of those cheeks!——–
**True love is the open road, a Jeep Wrangler top down and my dog riding shotgun.**
looking at that double chin i’d say she puts eating first.
Oh grow up.
All the good wishes to her family and best of luck to her mom, great recovery
awwww her son is carrying a doll…cute.
Yes, it is cute but I’m afraid he’s going to get a lot of teasing when kids see this.
Agree!!! That comment wasn’t necessary…
best wishes to her family. it looks like her son has a scrape under his eye.
