Kate Winslet Will Be Mildred Pierce

As if Kate Winslet doesn't have enough awards, it sounds like her latest project may very well get her some more! Kate is attached to star in the project 'Mildred Pierce,' which, yes, is based on the James M. Cain novel of the same name, according to Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello.
The project, which is being shopped to cable (including HBO),
centers on a single mom struggling for independence during the Great
Depression.Mildred comes with some built-in awards cache: The 1945 film version netted Joan Crawford her first Academy Award."
This project is going to cable because producers are developing it as a five-hour miniseries rather than a feature film. Has anyone read the novel? Does this sound interesting to you?

Love Kate, she deserves only the best roles in Hollywood!
the 1945 movie is amazing. One of my favourites. Not looking for a remake.
considering all the red tape and cost of living , climate, friendliness, etc etc .....

Wow. I am at a loss. One of the all. time. best. films. ever. made. AFI top 100, oscar, etc. What, are they going to remake Gone With the Wind next? Love Kate, but seriously, this film doesn't need a remake. Half of the effect will be lost, divorce does not equal scandal and fallen woman anymore. Wow. PS, if you haven't seen the original, DO!

I am not mad about Kate. Something about her screams FAKE! I know she pretends to be down to earth and working class, but she just does not cut it and it always feels like a publicity stunt>>>> Look, I am just like you. I am normal, love me ...

I'm with you on that suffy_78... I think she's a great actress but I'm sick of her "I'm so normal" attitude. And she's not really from a typical "working class" background. I don't know why she needs to emphasize that she's not from a "privileged background", who cares what her parents did or didn't do?

I loved the original film with Joan, and I think Kate will do well.
