Tyra Banks To Reveal Her Real Hair On Season Premiere Of Talk Show

Didn't Wendy Williams annonce she was going to do that this season? Guess everyone is taking off their wigs for ratings these days.

Tyra Banks will be trading in her trademark weaves and debut her never before seen “natural hair” on her Season 5 Premiere Episode airing September 8, 2009 on The CW Network at 4:00 PM.
Tyra, who was in Union Square Monday taping a segment for her show, traded in her usual weaves for a scarf.
Tyra Banks:

"This season on The Tyra Show we're taking it to the next level and getting more real than ever before by encouraging women everywhere to own and rock what they've got and be proud! For the Season 5 premiere, I will be doing just that - no fake hair, I'm rocking my REAL hair. This will all be going down on September 8, 2009, which we’re declaring National Real Hair Day! We welcome everyone to go natural with me!”

Will you go natural with Tyra?

She's going natural because her hairline is receding to the back of her head.

Don't think I would go out of my way to see what her real hair looks like. But good for her if this was a tough decision for her

I just want to say, that for some black women, exposing our natural hair and not hiding it behind wigs and weaves is very hard. SOme have been told their whole lives that their hair is nappy ugly, bad too short, etc. So i applaud Tyra for doing this. This is a topic that is not always talked about.

I agree, I grew up with sisters who have straight thin hair like my mother had, I on the other hand have thick very curly hair like my dad. My family took it upon themselves to let me know that my hair was "bad hair" and my sisters have "good hair".....WTF!! LOL!!. It wasn't until I was an adult that I learn there was nothing wrong with my hair.-------------

Not surprised, I've seen Tyra talk on her show about how black women shouldnt really hide their own hair and use weaves etc. to feel "whiter" or something.. I think its great that she's going to show her real hair, and think every black woman should- its beautiful. We all admire what we dont have *pokes own blonde straight hair* I'd kill for curls!

BUT, its not true that its never before seen. They showed a pic of her with her real hair on Americas Next Top Model.

I don't understand why black people hide their hair? what's wrong with their natural hair? I don't get it.

Great question, Maggie! Nothing's wrong with our hair, so I don't understand all the weave and extensions. **shrugs** Although more black women relax their hair than wear it natural, more are turning to natural hair because it's much healthier.

Some of us black women "rock our natural hair everyday!" Tyra is following a movement of courageous black women. She needs to pay credit to all of us who have been feeling our natural beauty long before she came out with this revelation. I guess however, we should be glad that she is finally coming to grips with what God gave her (if this is true and not just a publicity stunt or something to take control and spin negative criticism towards her to her favor.

She kind of amuses me. Like she's so self absorbed but there's almost an innocence about it. Like she GENUINELY thinks that everyone is so gaga over her and fascinated by everything she does. I can't really explain it but yeah, she entertains me. =)

Self absorbed fame whore. Just sayin. Never watch her show anymore.

Has it occurred to you that black women as a whole have long experimented with their hair. We the natural (Thank you Angela Davis), wraps, pressed straight, curls, straight weaves, braid weaves, braids and the list goes on. What other nationality can or have done the things we have and can do with our hair. Most are jealous of the color of our varied skin color, our hair and our fashion. We are the trend leader in fashion. Come on "sistahs", don't let the media make you ashamed of anything you do with your hair. Not even Chris Rock! YOUR ARE BEAUTIFUL!
