Julia Stiles Pokes Fun At Eco Fashion

It’s sarcastic – we get that – but what do you think about Julia Stiles poking fun at eco fashion?

Take a look at this new website she created talking about a fictitious clothing line she created made out of newspaper and disposable floor cloth.

"I met this homeless man who had never owned a shirt in his life. He had taken his pants and worn them as a shirt and I thought it was so creative.
"He was liberated from the conventions of fashion." The actress also found odd inspiration for her newspaper suit, joking, "I saw all these children sleeping on the streets and they only had newspapers to cover them up and I just wish that Americans could be so open-minded."

Is it funny to you?

Seems to me that she is not making fun of eco-fashion, but instead is goofing on celebrities who take themselves too seriously and constantly are promoting “causes”, when really they are fairly clueless and totally disconnected from reality…

Like “I saw a homeless man who was so liberated from the conventions of fashion”…c’mon, pretty obvious that she is pretending to be out of touch…

    I think it’s a pretty smart joke…and really funny…

I liked when the interviewer asked if she made nine other shirts from the scraps and she gave him a WTF look before saying, “No.”

i agree. i don’t think its about eco-fashion. i think its about celebs latching onto causes that they have only a superficial idea of, being in a PR machine, being surrounded by “yes” people, and not having to deal with reality, have their ideas challenged, or being exposed to values beyond “cool”.

THANK YOU! I AGREE! and most ppl are mocking her for poking fun at this and the nerve that she hasn’t had a real role in 10 years . work is hard for most ppl period.

This is hilarious! If anything she’s making fun of celebrities who start fashion lines but have no idea how to design them.

It is funny. And clever. It pokes fun at celebrities that are cashing in on – and almost making a mockery of – the green movement.
