Anna Paquin Is Cool With Nudity

Seems celebs either go towards one opposite extreme or the other. You have those that are ready to strip down at a moment's notice and then you have the others who swear they will NEVER go nude for a film. Anna Paquin thinks that taking her clothes off is no big deal.
"People are just too uptight when it comes to nudity. I don't see what the big deal is about showing people as they actually are and if they are having sex presumably they are naked. On my planet they are anyway. I have no problem with it."
Do you agree with Anna? Are people really too uptight about nakedness?

To each their own, really!! I do feel that as a society we do stress so much on nudity as being taboo, when it is actually one of the most natural things that can be done. I, on the other hand, would never be caught dead in any kind of public display of nudity. However, it isn't due to modesty but being uncomfortable with my body. A friend had spent some time as a nudist and found it to be one of the most liberating things he has ever done. It brought him to terms with his own body. So, if Anna feels comfortable, more power to her.

I wouldn't necessarily say that it's whether some actors are uptight or not.
Imagine if you had to get naked in front of camera-men, crew people, or possible hot actors?
Even if you're comfortable in your own skin, that would be terrifying. Not many people love the way they look buck naked, so it's understandable.
If I were an actress, I woudln't care about being seen naked on the big screen. That's AFTER all the editing and outtakes are done.
It's the 'live' part that would scare me!

Well, I know I wouldn't be comfortable with it...but good for her!

It bugs me when there's a double standard - for instance, most movies/shows will display ALL of the woman but not the man. Totally not fair and sexist. When want to see the naughty bits too!

It's because women bits are prettier. Men bits are just comical.

When my man whips out his meat I don't find that comical at all.

Oh, and I'll agree that it's a personal choice and I believe it's totally cultural. A lot of us Americans aren't comfortable with it...I'm not saying ALL Americans. lol. Personally, I don't even want to be naked by myself, hehe. Although I will admit skinny dipping is FUN. Private only though.

Yes, nudity is so taboo here while violence is perfectly fine. I work at a video games store and so many parents say it's they don't mind the violence as long as there's no sexual content. Keep in mind sexual content is a flash of boob or something. So you'd rather have your children be ok with killing and torturing people instead understanding sex? Ridiculous.

I was going to comment along these lines! Do you remember when that one edition of Grand Theft Auto came out and parents made a big stink because there was that secret sex scene? Sure, you can play a character who does drive bys, beats the crap out of people and steals cars, but nudity? That's evil.

yup, i agree with her. The US is the only place (aside from Japan) that I've been to that are that restrictive about nudity..... it's only a big deal cause we make it one :)
that being said... i was raised here in the US.......so, I have the same hangups. I wouldn't be up there nekkid.
If I had her body I would be a okay with nudity, as well.
Yeh, if I was about 5% body fat and had one hanging half way to my knees - nudity - no problem!

Yip...even me.... now I wish I'd appreciated the body I had in my 20's, I was insecure then but realise now it was banging... damn hindsight.

Everybody is fighting the recession in one way or another. (Except for rich people – but they don't deserve sympathy.) Part of fighting the recession is handling layoffs, and for some, having to go job hunting. It's never easy, and learning how to be marketing yourself effectively is a must, but with slim prospects, you have to find out how to come up with some cash in the mean time. Some have moved back in with their parents, and many find odd jobs to earn a little extra. Don't give up searching – ever. You can't give up looking. It's hard to cope with fighting the recession with no installment loans to back you up, but don't stop the good fight.

Im so sick of this nudity debate. Because all it really means is that we ALL have to look at naken women, and for those of us that arent into that, we got nothing. Men should expose themselves also.

If this was a male actor talking about nudity I'd be so happy that Hollywood has finally surfaced from it's stagnant and archacic practices of gratuitous nudity in a movie, regardless of whether the story line calls for it or not. To me, it seems rather one sided though that actresses are expected to remove their clothes to further their acting careers and get the big money--while men get to remain fully clothed and get a peep show out of the deal. What do bare breasts have to do with talent?

Everything. That's a joke, by the way.
I get what she's saying but what confuses me is why it's only essential to the realism of the story to show female nudity. The guys I've been with have all been naked, too, and the peen wasn't covered up with a wash cloth in the shower, either.
i dont think it's about being uptight or not. it's just about your moral values.

There is a time and a place for everything.
Do I even NEED to answer this one? It's nudity. No big deal. We're all born nude. End of story.
