Well, I’m sure it was a little bit about the money… and it backfired. But OK – let’s go with her side of the story.
Paula Abdul says that leaving ‘American Idol’ wasn’t about money – it was about principle.
“I had to stand on my principle,” Abdul, 47, tells TV Guide. “I’m going to miss the experience of watching young talent evolve into a place where they get to take off and soar.”
“I stand on principle where many people stand on money,” she says. “I’m a hard-working artist. I’ve lasted in this business for 23 years. And you can’t do that unless you are good at what you do.”
“I believe in myself and you have to have your own self respect. And sometimes decisions are very difficult to make, but I’ve always believed that at the core I’m a survivor. There’s not one thing I’ve done that I’ve really set my mind to that I’ve failed at.”
So what’s next? Paula says she is hoping to host a talk show.
“I definitely want to do a talk show because it would be different,” she says. “It would be a lot of fun variety with a ton of unexpected stuff and tributes to everyday people getting their big chance.”
Will you tune into Paula’s talk show if she lands one?

Oh Paula, the last thing we need is you talking. I love you but no thanks. Go choreograph something.
An Ohio zoo is celebrating a No. 1 ranking with a new commercial all about getting rid of “number 2″ the other kind. A cast including Columbus Zoo celebrity zookeeper Jack Hanna shovels and sweeps animal waste to lyrics such as “Lots of scoopin’ all their poopin’” and “No more number 2.” It’s the zoo’s way of promoting its designation as the country’s top zoo by USA Travel Guide. The Columbus Zoo is more accustomed to being rated the No. 2 zoo after San Diego’s.
A talk show? It will get cancelled after a week (or less)
Enlisted in the Army out of pique, this female lieutenant has quickly understood that the Army could turn into a passion! Surrounded by men and being the only woman around, she reaps the fruits of her passionate work: she fucks every day and soon attains her rank. In this video, she gets screwed by a
Like her reality show. :O)
I think she’s been doing a lot of choreography work over the years?
I think it’s sort of about the money–the lack of money compared to the other guys indicates she’s not as valued and respected as the rest of the people on American Idol.
Bull
It’s always about the money.
It’s always about the money. No question.
She hasn’t lasted in this business for 23 years straight. Before American Idol she was known as a “has been”. That show practically brought her back to life.
COMPLETELY AGREE!!!!
Oh pllllllllllllllllllllease give me a break. Principal my ass.
im not even sure what kind of talk show she would have. maybe what american idol ppl are doing now?
She looks great! She should have stayed with Jackie Jackson of the Jackson 5. They made a cute couple!
I would watch the show because she would undoubtedly be either A.) on painkillers, B.) drunk, or C.) A and B. It would be fantastic.
LOL! I just may tune in myself.
I do agree with her to some extent (i dont know about the “23″ years thing, maybe she was working behind the scenes?) but she brought just as much to that show as anyone else, why not have it be a level playing field? Or at least somewhat level? ***annie***
I wouldn’t watch her on AI, much less an entire hour of her talking :S
I like the dress she’s wearing, even if one of her boobies seems about to fall out.
I’d watch her talk show out of curiosity. I always wonder what people look like interacting with others in an interview type of situation.
…counting the steps to the door of my heart…
Overall I think Paula is kind-natured…and it’s not that she’s stupid. I think she has injured her brain from all the painkillers. So, yeah, I’m with the others watching her try to get the questions out would be like observing a train wreck. I do think she would be a kind and gracious host though.
