Rumer Willis Says Girls Don’t Have To Be “Stick Skinny”

Rumer Willis has blasted "stick-skinny" actresses.
The 21-year-old daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore is disgusted by "young Hollywood" because it promotes the idea you need to "see your bones through your skin" to be considered beautiful.
The actress told BANG Showbiz:

"I think that in general, especially in the last few years in the younger generation, the idea of perfection that has developed in Hollywood is wrong. There needs to be a shift in that.

"I have two younger sisters in high school and they talk about image all the time. Girls need to have a better body image. The stars out there now, they don’t need to be stick-skinny to the point you can see their bones through your skin. It’s not a good look.

"You don’t need to be like that to be beautiful or perfect or to fit in. What you are is exactly what you should be. You can’t let other people dictate your life or tell you how to feel about yourself because then you’re not living."

Rumer – who stars in upcoming horror film ‘Sorority Row‘ – has vowed to devote her career to being a "positive" role model for "normal" girls.
She explained:

"One of the most important things that I would love to do if I get to continue doing this job is to be a really positive role model for young women about their body image and about eating.

"I want to start giving girls a better body image."

What do you think about what Rumer is saying? Do you think young girls will look up to her as a role model?

  1. That’s so wonderful! I really love this style.

  2. YAYI says:

She’s definitely looking way better in those pictures.

  3. papyrus says:

she’ll have some surgery done, just wait and see. nowadays she can have some of her chin shaved off to have a more female shape. transgenders (male to female) do this to soften their look . and then she’ll say surgery was done for some neverheard of medical reason and the world will be happy again.

  4. Ariel says:

This reminds me: did Miley have a butt chin shaved off? I could have sworn that earlier photos had the indentation on her chin, but now I don’t see it.

  5. bgduckie_01 says:

it looks like she has lost some weight in these pictures. she actually looks ok here….

  6. Gisela says:

I doubt that Rumer would be so concern for the fat girls if she looked as hot as her mother. When Demi was the “it” girl in Hollywood she was all about her looks and her body. Demi is a very self-absorb woman, Rumer needs something to make her endearing to the fans. What’s next? spokeswoman for the potato head people?

  7. meme says:

Demi is still all about her looks and body and chasing her youth.

she looks like eric stoltz from the mask! scary!!

  9. Anonymous says:

I think Rumer herself is pretty darn skinny.

  10. KissKiss says:

    I’m starting to like her

  11. supia says:

wow this is probably the one thing she is doing right than her mother.

  12. Anonymous says:

Good for her. She has a nice body.

  13. back.in.plaid says:

She looks realy cute here. It’s good for her to say that. But at the same time, people can do what they want. Actresses shouldn’t have to gain weight just so they can give out a better body image to young girls. But it’s good for people to say that stick thin is not the only look that is beautiful. I’m back and I’m clad in plaid :)

  14. dyinggiraffe says:

it’s kind of funny because she looks like she lost weight in this photo.

  15. anniedawg25 says:

really! I do like her dress though, it’s so cute! Although Ive seen tons of pics of her that must have been taken AFTER the red carpet, because she looks trashed! At least she had fun celebrating her new movie!! ***annie***

  16. lara jane says:

    I thought so, too.

  17. Ariel says:

Yeah, it seems kind of hypocritical to say “you don’t have to be skinny” when you’re already skinny.

  18. dieselchicklett says:

Good for her. But let’s see if she cracks under the hollywood pressure to lose weight for a film…

  19. Ladylala says:

What she’s saying is really great, but omg… She is really unfortunate looking :(

  20. Tanis says:

LOL Ladylala, I’ve been saying the samething, with genes from Demi and Bruce you would think she would be more attractive. Although, I have heard that she doesn’t photograph well, that she is stunning in person.

  21. Ariel says:

I hope that’s true, because her photos look like those image compilations you can get if you’re curious about what a child would look like after mixing two people’s genes.

  22. Anonymous says:

Wow. Rumer is like so deep and stuff. Sorry, but nobody that fugly in pictures is “stunning” in reality. NOBODY!!!! She needs to go away.

  23. Ariel says:

She really isn’t fugly. I’d say she looks awkward, and definitely like someone who might like better in person.
