Ugly Betty's Ana Ortiz Talks Motherhood - On And Off Screen

In the September issue of New York Family magazine, Ana Ortiz (Hilda Suarez on Ugly Betty) talks about motherhood on and off screen.

On being a mother on Ugly Betty to Justin (played by Mark Indelicato):

She’s always been his biggest fan, his strongest advocate, his cheerleader. She’s never told him to be anything other than who or what he is. She encourages him to be himself, all the time, no matter what. I think, for young people, it’s so important to have that.

On being a working mother and having her mother help with daughter Paloma:

She comes to the set with me and the baby. So the transition has been pretty good. I have a lot of support from the people at work. We started work probably a little too soon—Paloma was just 2 weeks old when the season resumed.

Fans of the show will enjoy this piece of news! Ortiz also discusses the fourth season of Ugly Betty which premieres October 9th on ABC:

This season I think it’s very “no holds barred.” We’re also moving to Friday nights at 9 p.m., so we can push the envelope a little bit, we have a little more freedom.

Yikes, going back to work after two weeks. That would be tough... barely any time to bond with the baby, and bam. You're back at work.

I haven't said a lot about the ongoing battle between Craigslist and certain overly-aggressive politicians, but after reading his most recent blog post, An Apology Is In Order, I have to say that I'm really proud of Jim. Having a CEO standing up to politicians and media for what he believes is right and true really reaffirms my decision to join Craigslist last year. Better yet, he's outdone most of the media by, *gasp*, actually linking to relevant information in...

And it's Bullwinkle by a nose a really big nose at Saratoga Race Course. A large moose wandered onto the grounds of the historic upstate New York racetrack where the likes of Man o' War and Secretariat have run. Police said the moose was first reported walking through the city's downtown business district shortly before 4 a.m. Monday.
