Jerry O'Connell Refused To Watch His Daughters' Birth

In all fairness, the view isn't for everyone :) Jerry O'Connell was in the delivery room when Rebecca Romijn gave birth, but he didn't actually watch twins Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip being born.

"I was there for the birth but I did not look though. A friend of mine said 'listen, I've looked so I'm giving you a piece of advice - I don’t think you should look' so I didn’t actually see anything," O'Connell told Tarts at the Much Love Animal Rescue Dinner in Hollywood on the weekend.

The Fox News reporter who was talking to Jerry kept on with the tough questions, next asking if Rebecca had managed to get her pre-pregnancy body back yet.

"Yes… yes I guess she is. She looks great, back into the pilates," O'Connell said. "She's stopped breast-feeding so it slows down a little, I don't know the particulars. But we had a very large lunch today and we had dessert so I don't think she’s dieting per se."

You have to love Jerry for his honesty :)

Jerry also talked about his decision to go to law school.

"I got the short straw for not working so I'm going to grad school part-time. I can do my homework and watch the kids at the same time," he added. "But Rebecca misses the girls a lot when she's at work so I bring them around and let them bother her on set."

Law school and child care sounds like a lot of work! Good luck with it all, Jerry.

Oprah actually had a story about this on her show.....a husband watched his child's birth and after that, his sex life with his wife was shot. He couldnt get the image out of his head......I had never heard of that before!

I didn't know he was going back to school. Good for him.

I didn't want my husband watching our kid come out during the birth. The midwives kept saying, "Oh, you have to come and see this" while I was thinking, "Please, please don't. I'm never going to get laid again if he looks."

Yeah, there's a reason there's only going to be one person in the room with me, and it's *not* a man! I would never make me husband actually watch that, if I were married.

Amen. I watched my own births via a mirror. it's not for everybody though.

It's not that he refused to watch the birth, it's simply that he didn't. There's a difference. It made for a briefly interesting headline, though.

Law school is an interesting choice, but I wonder why bother at this point? It's so stressful and they have two babies to raise.

No, he refused. He wasn't on location or something, he was right there in the room. Do you own a pair of eyes and a head that swivels on your neck? If you're in the same room and you're not looking, it is because you decided not to.

Testguy, refusal implies that she really wanted him to see it and he refused to grant her request. That is not mentioned here. It sounds like he just didn't do it! That's not refusing, simply a lack of doing.

Okay, sure. Like holding both your hands over your ears and going "LA LA LA" is simply a "lack of hearing".

When I was giving birth to my daughter, my husband watched and he turned gray. First time I'd ever seen someone actually turn gray before. LOL!
