Maggie Gyllenhaal “feels sorry” for her brother. The ‘Dark Knight’ actress is saddened her younger sibling Jake Gyllenhaal is constantly followed by paparazzi and admits his celebrity lifestyle has changed him as a person.
She said: “Of course, everybody does change as they grow up, but I think it’s really hard for anybody who has to figure out a way to manage it. Like in Los Angeles, I don’t always know where to avoid going – sometimes you just walk right into a paparazzi nest. I get so angry, really upset. They chase him in their car and it’s just different for him. More than anything I feel sorry for him that he has to deal with that.”
Maggie, 31, and her family – actor husband Peter Sarsgaard and their two-year-old daughter Ramona – split their time between America and Britain to avoid the intrusion into their private lives.
She explained to Britain’s Marie Claire magazine: “When Ramona was born, it was bad. We were living in the West Village in New York, where all the paparazzi are, and it got frenzied. They never bother us in London. We were at Wimbledon, walking around with sausages and champagne, and we thought, ‘We are so lucky we can do that – I don’t want to give it up.’ ”
Maggie truly has the best of both worlds. As long as Jake and Reese are an item, I don’t think they will be able to avoid the press.

Yeah, I feel bad for them too, but it’s the business, it’s unavoidable.
I bet that’s hard to watch your brother go through something like that. But as long as Jake is dating Reese there is just no way to avoid it.
It’s sometimes hard as a normal person to see the downside of being famous, but it totally has a dark side. I love my privacy (but could prolly deal with being famous and loved and rich lol).
Is he still hounded? I haven’t noticed a lot of pictures of him and Reese as of late.
Neither have I, Ariel. Maybe it’s not as bad lately. I would imagine it would be hard – but like someone else said, it’s part of the business. You know what you’re getting into when you make certain choices.
I finally watched the Dark Knight a few weeks ago and I have to be honest – she drove me crazy. I just don’t find her attractive at all and it was sort of distracting through the whole movie. That’s so shallow, I know.
I would TOTALLY FEAR that too. I feel just because you chose to be in the spot light doesn’t mean you choose to be there DAY AND NIGHT. The Paz get to walk away from the scene and no one will follow them home, shopping , to the kids play date and on the front deck or on vacation , the middle of no mans land. No matter if it is the same Paz or a new group of them , to a star THEY ARE ALL THE SAME; INTRUSIVE AND ALWAYS SPYING, I feel for them too
I can’t stomach this woman or her dopey husband, ugh! The only movie I could stand her in was the Secretary…for obvious reasons.
