Aubrey O'Day Defends Coloring Her Dog

Aubrey O'Day says she finds nothing wrong with the fact that she colors her dog's hair. In fact, Ginger likes it!

"She likes to have looks. It actually seems like such a taboo weird thing nowadays, but if you research online, you will see a whole underworld of dogs who are dyed."

And because we live in an age where everyone is trying to make a buck, the singer has announced she is working on a "natural dog dye" line.

When does she do the coloring? When her little pooch is sleeping because its "hassle-free; she doesn’t even know [it's happening]."

"I do it like anyone would color hair. She sits on my lap, and I have a brush, and I paint it on and use foils.

Ginger "loves attention and because she's colored and has different outfits, she gets so much of it. She prefers it."

What do you think about Aubrey coloring her dog's hair?

I think it looks a little silly, but to be completely honest - as long as she's not hurting the dog (and she looks like she loves him), then whatever.

I guess I'm missing what the big deal is?? It's not like she's plucking the dogs fur out.

first, "a whole underworld of dogs who are dyed" doesn't make it right or cool or uncruel.
second, the dog can't possibly know about the change of color.
why are people so ignorant and stupid. is it correlated with fame and money?

It may be ridiculous, but it's far from cruel.

oh yes, it's cruel indeed to mistake your dog, which is a living creature, for a barbie doll. it is distressing for animals. period.

pulling the tail of an animal, eating an animal, dying an animal, wearing an animal.
for some people they are all cruel. though many of you won't see a problem in that and unfortunately that doesn't surprise me any more...

I guess those people who put bows and jackets on their dogs are cruel too. Boo me. I stand for what I said: it's ridiculous, but not cruel.

what a dumb@ass!... dogs dont see colors like we do. if she puts the coloring when the dog is asleep is probably done so she wont get her finger bitten. she shows no love or consideration for her dog and thats cruel.

I would actually love to see a line of specifically pet-friendly dyes. That'd be great.

the deal is...that is a dog and no doll.
many of you guys were angry because angelina jolie dyed maddox hair blue...but now it is a dog and you dont care.

Well, I personally believe that humans come before animals - so that might explain the different reaction. Duh?

Oh please! While I agree that as long as it's not bad for the dog it's fine if she wants to dye her or dress her up, don't try to act like the dog enjoys it! She'd be better off just admitting she's a little crazy instead of trying to justify it.

Before I scrolled down this post I said to myself "She better not say that the dog likes it". How does she know this, did the dog tell her???? I mean come on, I feel this is WRONG!!! Dogs were not meant to be dyed!

Why does she always have that look on her face? It's part stunned, part mystified or excited. It's odd.

1/2 of me thinks she's telling the truth: her dog must love the attention she gets when she gets a "makeover"; 1/2 of me also thinks she's kidding herself if she thinks the "makeovers" she gives the dog looks good!

I don't think it is harming the dog, but it just doesn't seem right.

If you really care about your dog - as a DOG, not a toy or accessoire - you will want him to have "species-approbiate" fun, which for a dog (!) means running around, sniffing around, playing with other dogs, searching for some smelly old thing... but that seems to much to ask from some dog owners. I wonder if these people ever saw a dog having a real good time, you definitely NOTICE when tehy are havin fun, and that does not mean "quietly & camly endur some treatment". Not putting up a fight is not hte same as enjoyment!
Smell is important in the "dog-world" and I´m not sure if a dyed, over-washed, perfumed animal does not suffer somehow in some way. What if he meets other dogs who don´t like his unnatural smell? Oh, sorry pets like that never get to do that, they are carried in the bag from event to event...
Of course the paint does not hurt and it´s not actually "cruelty" but a life of being carried around and treated like a doll or ornament is just a 2nd class life for a dog anyway, it just pleases the degenerate owners.
And it shows a lack of respect for the creature "dog" as it is, for it´s characteristics and its needs (that goes even for a cute tiny doggie like that - it still is an ANIMAL).
And: it´s just degrading for any creature on earth to be paraded around looking that silly (- not that fashion victims would notice?).

Would people like that dress and paint up their kid like a complete idiot and teach him to sit up and beg for a treat? They probably would....
