Ellen DeGeneres Is Replacing Paula Abdul On American Idol

It looks like a lot more laughter is heading to 'American Idol' this season. Ellen DeGeneres has officially signed onto REPLACE Paula Abdul as a judge on the hit reality show program.
What ever will Simon Cowell do? Will he be able to remain so blunt and honest with the comedian around?
"DeGeneres will sit alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi and offer her own unique perspective to the contestants throughout the competition," Fox television says in a statement.
What does Ellen say about the new job?
"I'm going to have a day job and a night job," DeGeneres said at her talk show taping Wednesday, assuring her audience that The Ellen DeGeneres Show will continue. "This is so exciting for me."
Can't wait to see how she does!

Sounds good to me! I'm not sure how she'll fit in to the mix, but I'm hopeful! :)

She was probably one of the LAST people I would have thought to be an Idol judge. I'm not sure I'm happy about it... I'll have to watch and see.
This is going to be interesting or rather fun to watch. But wouldn't it be very weird for her show or Ellen herself, which usually have booted Idol contestants as guests, to have next seasons booted Idols, where some she will be responsible or have a hand for booting out, guest at her show? I hope her show; Ellen will not turn into a Jerry Springer Show. I think with her show and now being the fourth judge, I think she has much money now.
What does she really have to offer to the show besides her comic perspective? I love ellen I think she is funny but she know nothing about music industry. How will she know who sings good and who doesn't, if they hit the right note or not? Sorry Paula they did not replace you with someone with as much talent as you.

This is an upgrade! Except she isn't exactly a musician, but well, it's all about entertainment.

I watched the video of her announcement and she explains that she's not there for the "technical" critiquing, just as a music lover and whatnot. I have never watched American Idol (a few blips here and there but never even a whole episode) but I just might now.

Her selection makes no sense to me. She has no musical talent or background. When she was a guest judge on So YOu Think You Can Dance, she was funny but useless as a judge. I think it will be the same here.

This makes no sense to me. What does she know about music again??
Excellent choice!! What does Paula Abdul honestly know about music? Come on. I doubt there is another celeb out there who watches more AI than she does! They've just saved the show!! After Adam's loss there was no was hope..

I don't watch the show, but I think she will make it interesting and entertaining.
I think she's good! Go for it Ellen!
I like Ellen but I'm not sure she's the best choice for this job
That's pretty awkward. I watched when she was a guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance. She was funny and sincere but obviously was not an expert in the area. I have a feeling this is going to be very similar.

its going to make things a bit interesting...well at least in the beginning :)
I know Ellen is very personable and funny but AI will not be the same without Paula.
Ellen would be a great replacement for PA...the labels suing her is just another sign of the times...its so tough for labels to make money that they are suing everyone who uses music without paperwork...
