Katherine Heigl Is Adopting A Baby From Korea
What a night for breaking news!! Katherine Heigl and her husband Josh Kelley are adopting a baby!! The news is confirmed by her rep.
The Grey's Anatomy star, 30 -- who wed her musician husband, 29, in December 2007 -- will formally announce she's adopting a baby girl from Korea on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show to air Friday, a source tells Us.
WOW! How wonderful for them!
Katherine has an older sister who is adopted and has voiced in the past how she desired to adopt as well.
The 10-month-old is named Nayleigh.
Will Katherine decide to physically have children in the future? Doesn't sound likely.
"I'm done with the whole idea of having my own children," Heigl told USA Today. "[It] doesn't seem like any fun. I don't think it's necessary to go through all of that."

I just can't see her as a mother...she doesn't seem to have that mother quality we see in other women..That being said I hope the adoption flows well and that most of us are wrong for the sake of the child!

I think it so cool that there is this trend going on in hollywood to adopt. There are so many kids out there that need a loving home. And lets face it they can also use a lot of money. Who couldn't? School supplies and enough money to afford top-notchirvine computer repair.

Who are you to judge which method or "trend" of conception is acceptable or not?
Since I am tired of reading about the 20,000 foster children left to age out of the system in this country, the millions dying across the world every year, for lack of healthcare, and dying in wars, when someone could pluck them out of their own hell on earth instead of selfishly demanding their genetics be passed on. That's where I get off.
Another one of these "I NEED to have MY own baby" people I see. Blinders. take em off. 20,000 kids a year age out of the foster care system in this country alone. Millions of children die every year of hunger, sickness and war, when they can be adopted instead and given a chance at life. That is where I get off. I can't have my own children, and even if I could, I wouldn't, due to all the genetic issues in me and my husbands family. I would never use artificial means to pop out my own perfect child, either, its nature's way of saying you shouldn't reproduce, therefore, I am listening to what nature is telling me. There are plenty of kids that need mothers, and the NEEDS of children should always come before the WANTS of adults!

'adopting children shouldn't be the latest fashion' - I don't think that's fair to say. Her sister was adopted so she's probably had the idea in mind for some time, not because it's the 'latest fashion'. Since she seemingly has no desire to have biological children but wants to be a mother, then it's really such a wonderful thing to adopt. There are so many children that need families to love and care for them. If anything, I think it's great that celebrities are adopting because it's bringing about awareness to the world.

Seriously, I'm not even american or anything, but aren't there babies who need homes too? Why do most celebrities adopt them from other countries? It's silly.
Well, if the US didn't make adopting a terrible, heart wrenching chore, make people jump through insane hoops, and make them wait years, there wouldn't be such an issue. Also, this idea that you "have" to have a baby is nonsense! Adopting an older child needs to be pushed, by officials, and society. We need to push adoption reform.

I had no idea it took so long in the USA too. My country has terrible adoption laws, many couples end up quitting, but adopting from another country it's nearly impossible.

The red tape you have to go through in the US for adoption is so thick that many couples choose to adopt from another country. It can take years.
Well, the if laws in the US didn't make some one jump through so many hoops, for so many years, people would adopt from here more often. Since you have to basically go through years of red tape, people opt to go somewhere where they can get a child within a couple of years, instead of a decade.
Katherine's sister is adopted from Korea so that's probably why she went this route. I think one of the reason people, not just celebrities adopt from outside the USA is kids in underdeveloped countries are in more need than kids from USA. American kids will have their basic needs met (food, shelter, clothing, education, etc). That can't be said for most kids from Asia, Africa, etc. Also a lot of news programs say that prospective parents find less redtape and a shorter time period in adoption abroad.

I have no idea what her beef is about normal child birth (actually sounded kind of strange), but it's good that she wants to adopt. Wouldn't it be nice if women who resort to abortion would consider giving up the babies for adoption instead? There are lines of want-to-be parents out there that would take these children in a heart beat. Lets find a way to substitute abortion for adoption. casino en ligne
