Whitney Houston Opens Up About Crack Usage To Oprah

Whitney Houston spent seven months in her pajamas getting high on crack cocaine. The soul singer made the shocking confession in an interview with talk show host Oprah Winfrey.

Speaking about the explosive segment which will air next week, Oprah said:

"It will leave you gasping. She does not blame her ex-husband Bobby Brown and she takes full responsibility for her engagement in drugs.

"At one point she says, 'I didn't get out of my pajamas for seven months'. She talks about doing the drugs and sitting in the house and the two of them going, 'What are we doing?' "

The 46-year-old star also reveals her addiction began shortly after she starred in 1992 film 'The Bodyguard'.

Oprah said:

"She said, 'I want to tell my story, I want to tell the truth.' She talks about when it started to go wrong after 'The Bodyguard' - that was a long time ago.

"The thing most shocking to me is that Whitney tried to make herself smaller to fit in a marriage so the man could be bigger. How many women have done that? I deeply felt for her. She was trying to be the good wife. She really, truly loved him."

Whitney has not done a TV interview since 2002, when she denied taking drugs, saying: "I make too much money to smoke crack. Crack is whack."

I can't wait to see this interview! And I am so happy that Whitney is so far removed from the substance that she is actually able to discuss it.

I'm sorry, but I no longer respect this woman. It's good to see her finally get off of it, but she WILLINGLY started and lied about it. So much for her being a role model, huh?

Hasn't she told everyone about her addiction many times before? Isn't that how she's been staying famous? Why is this "new"? It's no secret.

Lying is a part of addiction. It takes a lot of courage to come forward as part of the recovery process. I wish her well.

She is still lying, watch the interview. I still got that weird vibe that I did when she was sweating profusely during performances. Something seems not right-I hope she does ok, but man, something is off

if she was lying before she could b lying now. how can anyone believe her when all she has ever done is lie. ya great role model. if her drug habit was this bad then why does she still have custody of her daughter. why if it was as bad as she made out why did no one step up and report her to protect her daughter. oh ya i forgot celebs r above the law. it must of been great for her daughter to see that for pretty much her entire life. once a drug addict always a drug addict.

If you know anything about addiction you would know that an addict will lie about it. The fact that she is now facing her demons and admitting something that she fathomly denied is a huge milestone and step towards recovery. I'm sure you have lied about something you were ashamed of or didn't want to reveal the truth.

good for her for taking responsibility. even though it'll be hard for her, it's good she's trying to change.

Whitney was doing drugs before The Bodyguard, I found this out years ago when her first album came out. I was 16 at the time and met a man who invited me and a friend to "party" with him. He told me that Whitney was going to be there and if we wanted to come. My friend wanted to go and I was "hell no!" He told us how Whitney loved to party and do drugs. I didn't believe him at the time, everyone blamed Bobby but Whitney was a big coke head before she married Bobby.

Whether Whitney was using drugs before Body guard is hardly worth the issue of investigating. What is prevalent and undenieable is that the usage of said drugs have brougth down the quote "Diva". Whitney Houstons' voice will never have the swag, or should I say the magnetic pull it once had for us. The vocal cords have endured life-changing damage. It will take God to reverse the damage that the drugs did to Whitney, and all other Divas. What is needed to be said is that we can use anything or anyone as our scapegoats; but when we do drugs or any other mind altering subsatnce it is because we choose to, for whatever reason, No Bobby Brown, or any clown can put any amount of pressure on you; if you didn't allow them. I pray that Whitney Houston falls inlove with God, then she cantruly love herself.
She is worth all the prayers that can be prayed!

I'm proud of Whitney for having the guts to admit and deal with her addiction. My boyfriend fights that very same demon, which he is doing great (drug-free) and we must continue to remember not to turn our backs on the people we love must. We must be supportive and stop judging one another. I love her new CD and I pray she continues to do well.
