Dita Von Teese Performing During The Gentry De Paris Revue
Have you ever seen a video of Dita Von Teese performing her burlesque act? I was lucky enough to get invited to one of her NY events last year - and BOY is it steamy!!
Take a look at Miss Dita performing her Opium Den routine during The Gentry de Paris Revue in France.
What do you think?

Still it's just a glorified stripper. Not that there is anything wrong with it but dont try to pretty it up to be something its not, ya know?
Love her! She is amazing. Love following her twitters, too.
A bit in the stripper dept. i have too agree. she looks so classy in public and she whips it out ( if i may say) for how ever pays too see her PEEP-A-BO goodies. she's like the 1940s women, who look proper for the public, but down in her basement she charges admission to whip the neighborhood boys AND THE FATHERS. she may not be showing much, but she surly is giving a VERY SEDUCTIVE EYE FULL.
From that clip it seems like she's a bit of a stiff "dancer."

No, I would not like to see that. I do not like Dita at all. She is a tramp.
you think Dita is a tramp? Really??? um take a look at ur pic honey!
I'm so BORED by this. I think she is a pretty girl with an amazing ability to look like perfection (for her genre) all the time....but I don't "get" the whole burlesque thing. It's just stripping. Showin' off the goods.
Loved the decor... her 'dancing' didn't do much for me, but she has a great body.

I love burlesque and she does it quite well!
.........cheating americans is easier.
FRANCE though IS SECOND BEST!!
People are just into her because she's always "on", always in costume. She's a glorfied stripper. And she is a HORRIBLE dancer!!! She always looks lost and awkward.
I don't get what "glorified stripper" is supposed to mean, if you mean "removing your clothes for the titillation of others" then yeah, "stripping", "burlesque", "exotic dance" etc are all ways to refer to that, but why is that considered generally undignified? You could make a case that some performers working under the umbrella of "strippers" could perhaps be uncomfortable with or feel exploited etc, but it's pretty obvious Dita is very much in control of her objectification, enjoys performing and that it's very much an artistic thing for her, as can be seen in the attention to detail, sets, music, costumes, it's a highly choreographed and stylized performance, so why try and trivialize it or insult her (and other strippers in the process) by making it sound like she (or they) are doing anything wrong, stripping is a completely valid form of self expression (or for those who act more out of necessity, a form of income).
very well said :)
