Evan Rachel Wood Not Scary Enough For True Blood Fans

Evan Rachel Wood Not Scary Enough For True Blood Fans

Did you see last night's 'True Blood' finale? Were you expecting a little more from Evan Rachel Wood's Queen character? You weren't alone. The internet is exploding with disappointing fans upset that the actress was giving a meatier role in the finished season.

Michael Ausiello from EW sat down with True Blood creator Alan Ball and he said things will change.

She will [show her scary side]. You don’t want to introduce a character you’re going to see later and blow your wad up front...All I can say is keep watching. It will make sense...She won’t be a series regular, but she will appear. Every state has its own vampire royalty. We will meet the King of Mississippi. Interesting things happening between him and Evan’s Queen.

While we are on the subject, what about hottie Eric Northman (aka Alex Skarsgard)?

There is a reason for not seeing Eric in the last part of the episode, but if I explain it, I’ll be [giving away] too much...I thought wow, I had many seasons of Eric planned but I guess I’ll have to off him...Personally, I’m like, yes, Eric’s hot, but beyond that he’s dangerous, and I don’t know if he’d love anybody besides himself. What’s the appeal there? The bad boy? The danger?

If he kills Eric... I just don't know what I will do!

I've never been a fan of hers and grumbled when I heard she was going to the be the Queen BUT she was fantastic. I really like her a lot in this character and the character is fun. She's sort of light but evil and I'm sure is quite nasty and dark. I can't believe people were disappointed. Whatever. Can't please everyone. He'd be an idiot to kill off Eric. Please take Bill instead. LMAO And thank GOD Maryanne is gone..that storyline was driving me crazy.

A lot has been disappointing with this show, especially the fact that creator Alan Ball has gone as far off the book series as he has. Other than the fact that they are based in Bon Temps and have some of the names of the books' characters, the Charlaine Harris series has been majorly rewritten. I'd be seriously peed off in her shoes. The creator should just have written his own characters from scratch if he's going to deviate that far from the books. I was really hoping that Bill would cheat on Sookie and that she'd fall for Eric, as it happened in the books. They make a much more interesting couple. Charlaine Harris had it right in the first place and Alan Ball should respect that.

My first thought when I read the title was "Maybe she should dye her hair that horrible black again - she was scary then" lol (okay, probably not as funny as I think it is...)

I don't like Evan Rachel Wood as the queen. She's not doing it for me, she's not convincing and she really irritates me to the point where I don't even want to watch any scenes she's in. If they kill off Vampire Eric I will no longer watch the show. It's bad enough that they've gotten so far off from the books, if they get rid of Vampire Eric there will be no reason to watch.

it is a tv show! they aren't going to give you everything at the beginning or the end...they want to keep us watching the show for many seasons to come. i liked erw as the queen. i have read all of the books and i am glad that the show is not the same. if it was the same, why would i watch it? knowing whats going to happen would get on my nerves. the book and the show are two seperate entities, i don't even think about the books while i'm watching the show or i wouldn't be able to enjoy the show!

Who cares about the queen? Just don't kill Eric! Did you see him talking to those kids calling them "teacup humans"? That was so funny, and then flying! He's the most interesting character in the show! I hope they don't ruin it by killing him off or making up some lame storyline.

I knew this show would try to pull this sort of stunt later down the road. Eric is one of the most important characters in the Sookie Universe and Alan Ball is just going to kill him off. Madness.
Ps: i agree with CapturingLife that maryanne strory line went on for far tooooooo long.

You can't kill eric! He is the best part of the show. Bill and Sookie are totally boring. Why don't you stay true to the book where she ends up with Eric not bill, instead of appealing to the cookie cutter love story.

i think she's a terrible actress. she looks beautiful in the part and i love the way they style her and do her makeup, but she is terrible. i really don't like the show, but for some reason can't stop watching. eric is one of the only characters i actually like. if they kill him off i won't have any reason to keep watching.

RECAST THE PART. I don't understand why they don't, it's obvious from ANYTHING written about her that she's been AWFUL in this part.

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Oh no! He better not kill off Eric. Eric is one of the best characters on there! If he's gone, I'm gone! As for Eric loving, I think he can and I think that Sookie can show him. He's already got feelings for anyway. He just doesn't know how to show his feelings. I was disappointed that they stuck Eric in that stupid yahtzee scene. For two episodes they did that to him. Fans want Eric, they don't care about the Queen, this queen anyway. Evan Rachel Wood is HORRIBLE. She can't act her way out of a paper bag. Recast the character with someone who knows how to act. If she continues to play the queen, it'll be laughable performance when she finally does show her true side.

I will not continue to watch if Eric is gone. I think he's one of the more interesting characters on the show. It was stupid to keep him in a yahtzee scene with the queen. Evan Rachel Wood is horrible as the queen. It'll be laughable to see her when she plays evil. Recast her already.

she has always been a terrible "actress" its laughable that she is STILL trying to be Dita. enough!!

I understand changing up the books a bit and so on but killing off Eric would destroy the show and the whole meaning of True Blood. He is a MAJOR part in the series and you can't take Eric away from Sookie. Apparently the idiot hasn't read the series since he says Eric can't "love anybody besides himself". HELLO BOOK 4!!!! That changes everything that has to do with Eric and Sookie!

If he makes the Queen and the King get married I'm going to attack the man! The King is Gay and the Queen has a lover! .. (which it's puzzleing me if the blonde at the house is supposed to be Sookie's cousin?.. either way)

I also read in this whole little statement thing that they are going to be telling what Sookie is already next season :-/ ... Granted I know season 1 they cut out the scene with Claudine hidding in the bushes.. but now they are going to be bringing out what she is... Which I'm not so sure I'm okay with this soon.

I really hope Alan Ball is just trying to fool us when he says he said he may kill off Eric! Even though the show isn't completely faithful to the books the character of Eric is still wonderful. I think there is so much potential and so much more to explore in the show with Eric!

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Well I TOTALLY agree with what everyone is saying. Evan Rachel Wood isn't believable to me. I love all her other work but NOT this role. It's too forced and not in toe with how a "queen"/old vampire would behave. She acts like a 20 something...not old, wise, elegant and evil.

On killing Eric....Well that is idiocy! lunacy! Eric is what keeps basically everyone watching. Bill has lost his "umph" as they say and I think the love scenes between him and Sookie are getting lame. Killing Eric would extinguish a lot of the humour in the show and Pam? We wouldn't get that great dynamic. Alan Ball has to be kidding!

If he kills Eric then he destroys a major essence of the Sookie Stackhouse world. Granted, the show does NOT follow the books, the general feel is the same and Eric is a very integral role in the Sookie universe, even moreso than Bill as it goes on. I did not really like this season all that much. I enjoyed the Dallas plot but the whole maenad plot really was quite boring and ridiculous as it got to be more out of hand. So, if they get rid of Eric, then I won't be so miffed to give up HBO to cut my monthly expenses.

He can't kill off Eric if he wants to stay true to the books AT ALL!! Eric & Sookies awesome love affair is the most interesting part of the books!

The Queen is very disappointing. Her attitude is all WRONG! She's playing a spoiled, sarcastic little girl from the Valley. Clearly, someone alot more mature should've been cast. This is a child trying to play a seasoned vampire Queen. No thanks! I want to see a woman in his role. An unknown would've been lots better. And her companions are all wrong. A Queen would not surround herself with wimpering little fools. In fact she'd prob spend alot of time alone, reminiscing about her "hey dey". Not playing Yatzee with some little girl. At the most, if she were keeping company, they'd be older vampires, who enjoy the finer things in life and an occasional orgy.

RECAST THE QUEEN, PLEASE! No sarcams, no games.
