i really wish she'd stop it with the botox, its ruining her performances. she cant make any face properly apart from a 'im nearly constipated' or 'im going to open my mouth and eyes real big so people think im a good actress' face. besides, i think theron is a better actress than kidman.

This is a story that will have an audience beyond the rather large LBGT community. If you think about Dustin Hoffman as "Tootsie" why is it so hard to believe that even Nicole Kidman could be transformed? Look at Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes, and John Leguizamo in "To Wong Fu ..." . We have many fine actresses who have made the transformation to men -- Julie Andrews in "Victor, Victoria"; Meryl Streep as the rabbi in "Angels in America" -- and I'm sure there are others. A role is a role and makeup artists are amazingly talented. And there are some amazing artists among those who are cross-dressers in life and especially those in the entertainment field -- who become stunning women.

There have been many transformations as we are about to see in this movie-- Julie Andrews in "Victor, Victoria"; Meryl Streep as the rabbi in "Angels in America". And for the reverse, see Dustin Hoffman as "Tootsie"; Patrick Swayze, John Leguizamo, and Wesley Snipes in "To Wong Fu...Julie Newmar"; and many more.

There will be a wide audience for this movie. Hollywood has many fine make up artists and great performers who are able to create transformations all the time. Why have an attitude about this...after all, it is an interesting story. You can decide whether or not to pay to see it. IT'S A MOVIE!!

Kidman is so unbelievably exquisite...& so talented...she'll probably take the role to heights even beyond her turn as Virginia Woolfe in the Hours!! Sooo look forward to the film...

To those of you that are ignorant because of your lack of knowledge should keep your yaps shut! Im transsexual and this is real for us, its not a fetish thing! Do you think its fair that were deprived of living a normal life because we were born with a females mind? Its a medical condition and we need treatment with dangerous hormones, its never ending in our Transition, NOT transformation. It really unreal what society puts on us. I think its what the public sees as in the fetish side of transgenders, their goal is way different then our, I can respect that cant you? We have a much different goal in life the tg's cd's tv's and that is just to live as female, thats all we want.

Well - if this cheap publicity wasn't enough, how STUPID is this topic for a major film? Are we out of good stories with interesting, everyday characters? Why not just DONATE the $150 million in wasted vanity project bucks to REAL PEOPLE who could USE IT for good causes, perhaps even tossing ten bucks to see crap movies like this one is sure to become? She is an amazing actress. If I hadn't seen her don a fake nose and do such an amazing job as Virginia Wolf in The Hours, I still would have doubted her, but I'm excited to see this happen. The film hopefully will be a tribute to the trans-sexual community, and I feel Nicole has "the balls" to carry it off.

I see the word homophobic used here. Who invented this word? I value homosexual people. I have worked with many homosexual people and I often admire them and have much affection for them. I also understand that at times their sexuality is probably inborn, so I can't discriminate against them, it would not be fair. I can love and value homosexuals, but that does not mean I must believe their sexuality is normal. I honestly don't think normalizing sexual behavior that is not normal is ok.

Since the word "homophobic" was recently invented, this viewpoint automatically makes me guilty of this ridiculous charge with a word that is thrown around without real meaning. I am not phobic because I don't agree that homosexual behavior is normal.

As I say this, I still believe in homosexuals' right to commit in a ceremony and that they should be able to make their committed unions permanent and legal, just as heterosexual (I hate the terms "straight" and "gay" they are meaningless ) people can. It is not fair to deny them this right. I would like for homosexual people across the country to be able to form a union with their partners.

I would also, however, like for the homosexual community to consider that some people who support their aims in this may not be completely supportive of their calling the union "marriage" due to the fundamental difference inherent in their particular union vs. a heterosexual union. I would like to see the homosexual community face the fact that their union has differences, and consider that perhaps those differences could be reflected in what they call their unions. This language shift might bring about more support of their right to form a spousal bond. Calling their state a promise bond, or something similar for instance, rather than marriage preserves the unique aspects of the different types of bonds the homosexual has compared to the heterosexual, even as they share much in common when it comes to loving a spouse/partner (don't like the term partner either though, I prefer spouse for a homosexual couple).
