Jim Carrey And Jenny McCarthy Are "Married"

Well, maybe not legally, but in every way that matters to them, I'm sure. Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy reportedly held a commitment ceremony with family and friends in Malibu where they promised to be together forever.

A source said: "The vows basically said that they would 'be forever in love' with one another and that they would always be together. For the two of them, it was as good as a marriage ceremony."

After the ceremony Jim and Jenny went to Las Vegas for a honeymoon.

"They stayed at the Fantasy Tower in a luxury Sky Villa suite. When they weren’t kissing and cuddling, the two of them played Texas hold 'em."

Jim is said to be afraid that a legal marriage to Jenny would actually "spoil" their relationship.

"He insists that he and Jenny are incredibly happy together, and they don’t want to jinx things by tying the knot. Jim says he doesn’t need a legal ceremony or a piece of paper, and Jenny feels the same."

Well, congratulations to the couple!

Congrats but why the resistance to marriage? Sounds like it is better to have an easier out without a marriage license. What happens when one spouse gets sick? The other can't get insurance. The other can't be in ICU. The other won't have an income. What if one cheats or wants to leave during an illness or injury? There is no legal protection for financial support. It's all roses in the beginning and the real life sets in.

I was thinking the same thing. If they had a ceromony and are just as comitted, why not just dive in? Whatever. HOpe they stay healthy and happy...
