Celebs Turn Out For The Invention Of Lying Premiere

I've been curious about 'The Invention of Lying' ever since I heard about it. It stars Ricky Gervais (of the UK version of 'The Office,' 'Extras,' and 'Ghost Town'). It's set in an alternate universe where no one knows how to lie. Then Ricky's character discovers how to lie. Hijinks ensue.

The supporting cast includes Rob Lowe, Jennifer Garner, and Louis CK (pictures above) as well as Jason Bateman and Tina Fey. So, great cast, and Ricky is hilarious, but what do you think of this as a film? Is this worth a trip to the theater or is it a renter or skip it altogether?

And check out former 'Ugly Betty' star Ashley Jensen working her baby bump on the red carpet :)

Jennifer looks adorable, but Rob looks like he's had some work done...rather plastic looking.

I'm interested in the movie because of Ricky Gervais. He's a pretty funny British dude who hasn't had much exposure here in the states.

We very rarely make it to the theater (with the exceptions being cartoons or superhero flicks!) but this one's worth the $8. We love Ricky (Please rent his standup special if you haven't seen it! Hysterically funny stuff!)!

Jason Bateman & Jennifer Garner were great together in Juno so I'm looking forward to seeing them together onscreen again.

Lara Jane, I've been getting the spam filter a lot too! I'm not sure what's going on. Jen looks good. I'm kinda on the fence about her dress. It's ok. Neither here or there...

i agree about jens dress. its pretty, and gucci- but it looks like something violet would wear.....(if it had straps). and we never see ben and jen ouit together. not to be judgemental, but the seem like they could be having some problems.

Interesting concept... could be good. But dosn't sound like a theatre film... more a sunday afternoon movie

Yeah, it sounds like a possible rental to me. None of those people in it by themselves is a box-office draw.... to me anyway. Looks kinda lame.

Ben and Jen aren't pimping themselves out together because Jen is currently on the West Coast promoting a film in which she starred while Ben is directing and starring in another film on the East Coast.

See, they are not like Matt Damon who craps out movie bombs quicker than his sleazy, illiterate, subservient, fame-hungry, Crobar dancing wife craps out illegitimate kids. While Ben and Jen are active and involved parents, Matt Damon and his wife prefer to abandon their kids to nannies in order to party and pose for paparrazzi in any city, state or country except those in which their children reside.

Wish I could see the UK version of THE OFFICE on my TV! It's soooo much better, thanks to Ricky and his ensemble, than our OFFICE! Anyway, spend money on movies anymore. I have a big screen LCD Samsung on the wall and all the channels you can get plus Netflix. Going to the movies and paying THAT much money for the seats, popcorn, drinks, etc. is unbelieveable. Nope, as much as I love Ricky and he'll carry this movie even if it's kinda a piece of crap, I'm waiting to see it for super cheap.

One of the beautiful mothers in the Hollywood today is Jennifer Garner. And she’s doing well, not just being a wife, a mother, but also a Hollywood celebrity. She is one of the stars of the new film “Invention of Lying”. The film, written and directed by and starring Ricky Gervais, poses the philosophical and ethical question of where the world might be if no one lied. The film takes place in an alternate reality where no lie has ever been told, and Gervais' character tells the world's first. It also features Jonah Hill, Christopher Guest, and comedienne phenomenon Tina Fey. If the Invention of Lying reviews are as good as the film is it might be worth a small loan to go see.
