Marilyn Manson Has Swine Flu

Marilyn Manson Has Swine Flu

Marilyn Manson has swine flu. The ‘We’re From America’ rocker has been officially diagnosed with the H1N1 virus, although he does not have a life-threatening case and is expected to make a speedy recovery.

Joking about his diagnosis on his MySpace Celebrity blog, he wrote:

“So I have officially been diagnosed, by a real doctor, with THE SWINE FLU. I know everyone will suggest that f***ing a pig is how this disease was obtained.

“However, the doctor said my past choices in women have in no way contributed to me acquiring this mysterious sickness. Unfortunately, I am going to survive. M [sic]”

He's joking, but thank goodness the doctors aren't that concerned.

Manson isn't the only celebrity to have been diagnosed with the potentially fatal disease, which originated in Mexico and has the symptoms of a heavy cold.

‘Harry Potter' actor Rupert Grint - who plays Ron Weasley in the hit wizard film franchise - thought he was going to die when he contracted the highly contagious disease.

"It was quite scary when I first found out I had swine flu. I thought, 'Am I going to die?' But it was just like any other flu really. I had a sore throat and I went to bed for a few days."

Do you know anyone who had and recovered from swine flu?

I know a lot of people who've had it. It was nothing more than a regular flu, in some cases even less severe. Some sniffles, light cough, body aches, feverish and gone within a few days. I think the hysteria over it is so over the top. And there's NO WAY I'm getting that vax - I'm not a guinea pig. Do some research as to what happened the last time there was a breakout and they rushed the vaccine through without proper testing....it's scary.

In the Netherlands (maybe in other parts of the world too :) ) we have this meatdish, it's pork (sometimes beef aswell, or a mixture) it's rolled up in a net and then you cook it in the oven. Kinda like Manson.

I guess he totally had that swine flu coming :p

I have friends who get a flu shot every year. And every year they get sick with some form of the flu that the shots don't cover. I don't get flu shots--not ever. I've been sick maybe all of twice in the past 10 years. I get colds, those are impossible to avoid, but otherwise I am healthy.

same here, everyone I know gets the flu everytime they get a flu shot. I NEVER get flu shots and I've only had the flu once in my lifetime.

I got the flu shot in Jan 2008, and in Dec I got the flu really bad. I NEVER got the flu to the extent of vomiting before my father made me get that stupid shot. I refuse to ever get a flu shot again, you kill your chances of your own immunities getting strong enough to fight it...

Wow, do your research people. The flu shot does NOT cover stomach viruses (rotavirus, norovirus, etc...). It covers certain strains of the INFLUENZA virus. It will only protect you from the worst strains of influenza that scientists predict are going to hit the hardest every year. People are like, I got the flu shot but I sitll got sick! THAT'S BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER TYPES OF VIRUSES YOU CAN GET besides influenza which the flu shot is for! It is impossible to vaccinate for everything in one shot. And once again, that is NOT the vomiting flu. Geeeeeez.

don't get the shot...it will kill you! Do the research people!
just a money making business...even the makers aren't getting the shot!

WRONG... People who die after receiving the shot do not die from the shot, but some other cause. Why don't you do YOUR research? If it were just a money making business, then Canada wouldn't give them away to millions and millions for FREE!!!! What do you have to say about THAT?

I hope he stops touring until he is 100% free of this virus because a few weeks ago myself along with 7 other people went to one of his shows and we front row and center on the gate. He spat on the crowd throughout the entire performance, and within a day or so ALL 8 of us had contracted the virus. Noone died but it is VERY VERY painful, it is more intense than the "regular" flu and it just down right sucks.

the vaccine has killed more people than the actual virus. I refuse to get vaccinated.

My best friend had swine flu in May. She's a nurse, she was pregnant and she almost died. She spent most of the month unconscious on a ventilator then trach'd. Her baby was delivered at 32 weeks in the midst of all of that. Everyone is now fine for the most part (she has lingering memory issues), but I would advise pregnant women to seriously consider getting the H1N1 shot when it's released (As a non-pregnant person I will most likely not get this vaccine as I don't think it's been researched enough, plus it's a live virus). This swine flu affects pregnant women more strongly than other people. There are many women around the country who have died because their swine test came back negative and they weren't given Tamiflu. My friend's test also came back negative, but she was given Tamiflu. We feel this saved her life.

I don't know anyone who had Swine Flu, but it doesn't really seem like that big of a deal from what everyone on here is saying. There are a few kids in the schools my parents work in that have it, and my parents are fine.

Okay so I am confused, is the H1N1 virus the swine flu or are they two seperate viruses?
