Rick Springfield Has Led An Interesting Life

Here’s another 80′s flashback! LOL! I haven’t heard anything about Rick Springfield in a long time but it sounds like we’ll be seeing and hearing quite a bit!

Rick Springfield is currently shopping around his autobiography and it sounds like it’s a doozy! He promises to be:

“brutally honest about anything other than the things that will put me in prison.”

He shared a quick story from it:

I went to Vietnam in 1969, with a band when I was 17 or 18, and we toured Vietnam for three months. I almost killed the band, blew us up with a hand grenade. And we basically lived off the good grace of the hookers there and bought dope off the little kids. I look back on that and I think, I’m lucky I’m not dead from it. The only way girls could make money back then was to be a prostitute. I was a young man, and we were all pretty cute, and they would give us freebies. I went home with this one, and I said, ‘Okay, I got to go back to the barracks now,’ because we stayed with all the soldiers in tents. It was pretty rough, it wasn’t like a USO tour at all. It was just this private guy that brought Australian bands over because we’re the closest occidental country to Vietnam. She threatened me, ‘She said, if you leave tonight I’ll kill you.’ So I said, ‘Okay, I’ll stay.’ [Laughs] You never knew who had an AK-47 under their bed in Vietnam back then….”

Who knew? I always imagined him as this very clean-living kind of guy!

Rick is also set to play a “twisted version of himself” on the upcoming season of Californication, which stars David Duchovny. I can only imagine what’s in store! The third season starts this Sunday night on Showtime!

I liked his music–one of my guilty pleasures. And I confess–I started watching GH way back when he first began playing Noah Drake.

He was always hot. Love Jesse’s Girl.

Didn’t he beat up his wife a few years back? Hardly a clean-living guy.

I think the autobiography sounds interesting….. probably quite a tell all. Will be great to have insight on ‘the man inside’ versus the public image. Oh and to the person who said he was ‘snotty and patronizing”….. he himself said he has changed since the early days, and I haven’t seen a man more devoted to his fans. Always gracious even when they interrupt him on his down time.

My aunt was sooo in love with him, lol.

Is he really? My sister was in love with him through high school. LOL! She’d listen to his music and watch GH with my mom. Can’t wait to see him on Californication – LOVE that show! :D

I worked for a radio station in Sacramento when he showed up to do a promotion. He’s a douchebag. A cute douchebag, at least back then, but snotty and patronizing to everybody who worked there and all the fans who showed up. It was not a pleasant experience.
